Abstract

Mathematical knowledge and computational thinking train students' ability to reason, and this is needed to be able to compete in the digital era in the future. This study aims to construct a mathematical cognitive test instrument using the computational thinking (CT) model that meets the validity, reliability, and good item criteria and provides new insights into how to apply computational thinking in Islamic education (madrasah). This research includes development research consisting of design and implementation stages with a sample of 160 madrasah aliyah students in the Sleman district. Instrument validity was conducted by proving content validity. Reliability was estimated using the separation reliability coefficient, and the quality of the instrument was analyzed using the Rasch model. The instrument was declared reliable (separation reliability coefficient of 0.8059), classified as a good fit for the model, with a p-value of 0.64 > 0.05), and effective in measuring mathematics skills with a percentage of 99.85%. The instrument developed opens the insight that the subject matter in madrasah can be integrated with computational thinking skills and can be used as an alternative for diagnostic, formative, and summative tests.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop a valid and reliable Relativity Concept Inventory Test instrument. This instrument is based on relativity material, which includes Einstein's first and second postulates, time dilation, velocity addition, and length contraction. Methods for preparing instruments include 1) test design, 2) test validation, 3) test trials, and 4) test data analysis. The design of the test grid is based on Bloom's taxonomy C2 to C5 and produces 13 questions. The instrument is made in the form of multiple-choice questions and is equipped with a level of confidence. Instrument validation was carried out by 6 physics education lecturers and 1 high school teacher, with analysis using the V Aiken formula. The validated instrument was then tested on 130 students from 2 high schools in Madiun. Trial data was analyzed using the Generalized Partial Credit Model 3PL (GPCM-3PL). The development results show that: 1) 13 multiple choice Relativity Concept Inventory Test questions with a level of confidence were successfully developed, 2) expert validation showed that all question items got a score of 0.93, which is included in the valid, with instrument reliability of 0, 42 (very low category), 3) the results of the trial test showed that the relativity concept inventory was proven to be fit with the GPCM, with different power of the items of 0.407 and the level of difficulty showed that 11 items were valid with a range of -1.05 to 1.64, while 2 questions (numbers 8 and 9) are invalid with a value of more than -2. Apart from that, the question items have no potential to be guessed, as evidenced by the guessing value of 0 (zero). This Relativity Concept Inventory Test instrument meets the requirements for use in measuring students' conceptual understanding         Keywords: assessment, inventory concept, relativity. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp142-154

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the item characteristics of the mathematics problem-solving ability test instrument using the Classical Test Theory model. The data collection was based on the results of the test documentation as many as 359 students with dichotomous data. Qualitative validation analysis by experts uses the panel method, and quantitative analysis uses the Aiken index and Content Validity Ratio (CVR), while quantitative validation uses biserial point correlation. The test reliability index used the Alpha-Cronbach method. The results of qualitative validation show that all items correspond to the indicators of solving mathematical problems, but technically writing a few items needs improvement. Quantitative analysis using the Aiken index and CVR shows all items are valid with good validity. The reliability of the test is stable, with a coefficient of 0.83. Then, the test instrument consists of items with very difficult, difficult, and easy levels. All items were able to distinguish the test taker's ability and the effectiveness of the distractor to function correctly. Keywords: classical test theory, biserial point correlation, validity, reliability. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp98-111

Abstract

Assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes are crucial aspects of education. Effective assessment requires well-designed evaluation test questions, one of them is multiple-choice questions. However, the quality of the multiple-choice questions made must be high. Quality questions are those that have undergone item analysis to assess the validity and reliability of the assessment results for students during the learning process. This study employed an evaluative research methodology with a descriptive quantitative approach. The research subjects involved 251 tenth grade students from two schools in Bombana Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The evaluation was conducted using an instrument consisting of 10 physics questions that were created and validated with the assistance of teachers from each school. These questions covered the topics of the nature of physics, the scientific method, and work safety. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality of the physics questions to determine whether they meet the criteria or not. Data collection was carried out using the QUEST software and analyzed using the Rasch model. The analysis results showed that the 10 questions had INFIT MNSQ values ranging from 0.77 to 1.33, which are consistent with the Rasch model. Furthermore, the OUTFIT t values for all item questions were obtained at values less than or equal to 2.00, indicating that the questions can be considered usable and passable. The reliability estimate score for the items is 0.98, indicating that this test has high consistency and can be relied upon to accurately measure students' learning outcome.         Keywords: cognitive assessment, rasch modelling, Item response theory.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i2.pp671-685

Abstract

Differentiated learning is the core of the independent curriculum now. The aim of this research is to develop an instrument for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students based on differentiated learning on elasticity material and to obtain its characteristics. Differentiation, in this case, is differentiation of student learning styles. The instrument grid is arranged based on indicators of cognitive learning outcomes, which are then used to compile question items. The test instrument consists of two test sets, each of which has 9 items including two anchor items so that the total number of items is 16 items and has been validated by 6 experts. The validated instrument was tested on 252 respondents spread across high schools in the low, medium and high categories. Dichotomous data were analyzed using the Partial Credit Model (PCM). The trial results showed that all 16 items and the differentiated learning-based student cognitive learning outcomes test instrument were proven to be valid, fit the PCM model, and reliable, which means all items were in the good category. Thus, the test instrument developed meets the requirements for measuring the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students on elasticity material based on differentiated learning.
