Abstract

Background: The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education presents both opportunities and challenges for curriculum design. Purpose: This study aims to develop and validate an AI-Integrated Curriculum Innovation Framework with an Islamic Perspective, which holistically integrates technological, pedagogical, ethical, and spiritual dimensions. Method: Using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design, qualitative data were collected through interviews and focus group discussions with 25 participants (lecturers, students, and administrators), while quantitative validation involved a survey of 115 respondents. Thematic analysis identified four core dimensions—AI Literacy, Data-Driven Personalization, Ethics & Governance, and Adaptivity & Future Skills—which were tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Result: Results demonstrated strong construct validity, with Ethics & Governance as well as AI Literacy as a major predictor of future adaptability and skills. Integration of Islamic values such as ta‘lim (education), ḥikmah (wisdom), and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah ensuring that AI functions not merely as a technical tool, but as a catalyst for values-oriented curriculum transformation. Conclusion: Theoretically, this research bridges classical curriculum theory with AI studies; practically, the AI-Integrated Curriculum Framework has the potential to revitalize academic governance, strengthen digital literacy, and establish an adaptive, ethical, and sustainable learning ecosystem in higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the reasons why Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah 6 Nglegok employs etiquette learning through the team teaching model, as well as the process of implementing etiquette learning through this model. In this case, the main focus is the planning, implementation, and evaluation of etiquette learning through the team teaching model. This study employs a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach and utilizes a case study research design. Data collection uses observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data validity employs triangulation and extended observation time in the field, along with data analysis techniques that include pattern matching, explanation creation, and time series analysis. The results show that the planning of etiquette learning through the team teaching model in MIM 6 Nglegok was carried out thoroughly at a work meeting. Teachers compiled etiquette learning materials, shared roles, and agreed on joint learning objectives, prepared human resources, and procured training programs. The implementation of etiquette learning in MIM 6 Nglegok employs a strategy of dividing teaching roles, utilizing lecture methods, group discussions, role-plays, storytelling, and simulations. There are 19 etiquette materials grouped into three concepts: etiquette towards God, etiquette towards oneself, and etiquette towards society. Learning evaluation is carried out comprehensively, both on the student learning process and the effectiveness of collaboration between teachers. Weekly evaluation forums, home visits, and Bengkel Adab programs serve as strategies for problem-solving and continuous improvement. This study presents new scientific findings in the form of a method for cultivating etiquette earnestly, with two teachers in one class, allowing the material to be taught more focused and easily absorbed by students. This study only focuses on one location and a specific discipline, further research can be developed on broader themes.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the development of educational systems in five regions of the Malay World, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, and Thailand, with a focus on the relationship between education, religion, culture, and colonial influence. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics, similarities, and differences of educational systems in each region and their role in preserving cultural and religious identity. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review and historical analysis of relevant sources. The findings reveal that each region’s educational system has evolved through different historical dynamics. Singapore emphasizes technological modernization supported by a bilingual education policy. Malaysia has developed an inclusive national education system while strengthening Islamic education through pondok and national schools. Brunei Darussalam places Islamic education at the core of its national curriculum through the philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy. The Philippines shows a dual system between secular education and Islamic madrasah in Mindanao. Meanwhile, Thailand maintains the dominance of Buddhist-based education alongside the existence of pondok and madrasah in the southern region. This study concludes that educational modernization in the Malay World continues to progress without abandoning traditional and religious values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy for implementing the Strengthening Project of Pancasila Student Profiles and Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin Student Profiles (P5-PPRA) in developing Rahmatan lil-‘Alamin character among students at MTs Muhammadiyah Mandalle, Gowa Regency. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the implementation of P5-PPRA followed a systematic approach through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The strategy involved integrating the program into the school’s operational curriculum, establishing a facilitator team, and conducting thematic projects such as “Sampah Berkarya” (“Creative Waste”), designed to raise students’ environmental awareness and enhance collaborative skills. The program's implementation showed positive implications in shaping students’ character, particularly in fostering environmental concern, responsibility, collaboration, and social empathy. These outcomes align with Thomas Lickona’s theory of character education, which highlights three essential dimensions: moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. These dimensions are reflected in the integration of character values into learning processes, reinforcement of social activities that cultivate empathy, and students’ active participation in project-based activities. The findings suggest that P5-PPRA serves as a strategic and effective approach for character formation within the framework of moderate and contextual Islamic education.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the education sector, including Islamic educational institutions. These institutions are urged to adapt through institutional reform to remain relevant in the digital era. This study employed a qualitative approach using literature review and participatory observation. Data were collected from relevant academic publications (2019–2024), institutional reports, and observations at selected Islamic educational institutions. The findings reveal that Islamic educational institutions face several challenges in the digitalization process, including the digital divide, resistance to change, limited infrastructure, and insufficient digital competencies among teachers. However, the digital era also presents substantial opportunities, such as broader access to learning resources, flexible learning environments, improved institutional management, and global collaboration. Institutional reform in Islamic education requires strategic efforts such as infrastructure development, human resource digital literacy enhancement, curriculum integration with digital competencies, and the use of digital platforms for da'wah and religious moderation. These efforts are essential to maximize the potential of digital transformation while maintaining Islamic values.

Abstract

Creed Akhlak (Islamic Aqidah ) learning plays a strategic role in shaping students' character and personality in accordance with Islamic values. However, in practice, this learning often focuses on cognitive aspects and memorization, thus under-emphasizing the affective and psychomotor dimensions that are essential in values education. Therefore, a deep learning approach is needed that emphasizes not only understanding the material but also the appreciation, reflection, and application of values in real life. This study aims to examine the application of the deep learning approach in Aqidah Akhlak learning and its impact on the internalization of Islamic values in grade XII students of MA Muhammadiyah 01 Tegalombo . This study used a qualitative method with a case study design. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, and the deputy head of curriculum, documentation, and open-ended questionnaires to students. Data analysis was carried out using the interactive approach of the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the deep learning approach can increase students' active engagement in the learning process, deepening their understanding of the Aqidah Material morals, and encourage the internalization of values such as honesty, responsibility, and tolerance in everyday life. Teachers implemented various strategies such as contextual case studies, reflective discussions, journal assignments, and grade presentations. Madrasah support contributed to the success of this approach. Despite challenges in terms of student readiness and time constraints, this approach was deemed effective in realizing Aqidah Learning morals that were more meaningful, transformative, and aligned with the goals of Islamic education.
