Abstract

The increasing global concern regarding children’s declining social-emotional competence within academically dominated early childhood education systems has intensified the demand for innovative pedagogical approaches capable of fostering holistic developmental growth. Despite the growing recognition of experiential learning and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks, many kindergarten learning environments continue to rely heavily on classroom-centered instruction that provides limited opportunities for authentic emotional interaction, collaborative engagement, and adaptive social participation. Addressing this gap, the present study investigated the effectiveness of Camping Day activities as a structured experiential learning model for strengthening children’s social-emotional intelligence in kindergarten education. The study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 60 children aged five to six years from four kindergartens in Kampar Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through structured observations, semi-structured teacher interviews, and field documentation based on five SEL dimensions, namely self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsibility, and relationship skills. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests, while qualitative findings were interpreted thematically to provide contextual and conceptual depth. The findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in children’s social-emotional intelligence following participation in Camping Day activities, with the mean score increasing from 2.08 to 3.41 (t = 8.73, p < .001). The most substantial improvements were identified in emotional regulation, collaborative responsibility, communication, and peer interaction. The findings further demonstrate that pedagogically mediated experiential outdoor learning creates emotionally meaningful learning ecologies that strengthen children’s adaptive behavior and interpersonal competence through authentic social engagement. This study contributes conceptually by positioning Camping Day as a structured socio-emotional immersion model that extends experiential learning and SEL discourse within contemporary early childhood education while offering a globally relevant pedagogical perspective for fostering holistic child development.

Abstract

This study was conducted in response to the limited development of early childhood mathematical abilities, which is closely associated with the insufficient use of interactive and explorative learning media. The present research focuses on designing and evaluating an inquiry-oriented interactive wordwall game intended to enhance young children's mathematical competencies. The study employed a Research and Development framework using the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The participants involved 15 kindergarten children aged 5–6 years, while data were collected through expert validation, observation, questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments. The findings reveal that the developed media achieved a very high level of feasibility, indicated by media and material validation scores of 96% and 92%, respectively. Practicality testing also demonstrated a very positive response from teachers and strong engagement from children. In terms of effectiveness, there was a substantial improvement in mathematical ability, reflected by an increase in average scores from 60.1% to 97%, with an N-Gain score of 0.91 categorized as high. These results suggest that combining interactive digital media with an inquiry-based approach can meaningfully support children's conceptual understanding and engagement. Therefore, the developed Wordwall-based learning media can be considered an effective and innovative tool for improving early childhood mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited development of early childhood mathematical abilities, which is often associated with the use of conventional learning approaches and the lack of innovative, technology-based instructional media. The objective of this research is to develop and evaluate local culture-based interactive animated video media to enhance early childhood mathematics skills. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The product was validated by experts in media, materials, and culture, followed by limited and broader trials involving children aged 5–6 years at Mekar Melati Kindergarten. Data were collected through validation sheets, observation, questionnaires, and pretest–posttest instruments, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and N-Gain scores. The results indicate that the developed media achieved a very high level of validity, with media validation at 100%, cultural validation at 93.75%, and material validation at 98.33%. The practicality test showed a score of 92.5%, indicating that the media is highly feasible for classroom use. Furthermore, the effectiveness test revealed a significant improvement in children's mathematical abilities, with an N-Gain score of 0.768 categorized as high. The findings also demonstrate that integrating local cultural elements into interactive media enhances children's engagement, conceptual understanding, and contextual learning experiences. In conclusion, local culture-based interactive animated video media developed through the ADDIE model is proven to be valid, practical, and effective in improving early childhood mathematics skills. This study highlights the importance of integrating technology and cultural context in early childhood education to support meaningful and engaging learning processes.

Abstract

Kajian literatur sistematis ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam perkembangan intelektual yang mencakup domain kognitif dan fungsi eksekutif Anak Usia Dini (AUD) dalam konteks Revolusi Digital 4.0 dan transisi menuju Smart Society 5.0. Perkembangan teknologi digital telah menjadi keniscayaan dalam ekosistem pendidikan anak, namun paparan yang tidak terstruktur menimbulkan tantangan signifikan terhadap fondasi kognitif yang rentan pada usia emas. Metode yang digunakan adalah Kajian Literatur Sistematis (SLR) dengan mengadopsi kerangka kerja yang meliputi identifikasi, penyaringan, dan analisis deskriptif-analitis terhadap jurnal ilmiah mutakhir yang terbit antara tahun 2019 hingga 2024. Proses ini dirancang untuk memastikan transparansi dan kebaruan temuan ilmiah. Temuan kunci menunjukkan adanya paradoks digital. Di satu sisi, integrasi teknologi yang terstruktur dan aktif, seperti penggunaan Augmented Reality (AR) dan game edukatif, terbukti mampu meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Tingkat Tinggi (High-Order Thinking Skills / HOTS) dan kemampuan problem-solving pada AUD. Namun, di sisi lain, temuan yang dominan menyoroti risiko fundamental: screen time pasif yang berlebihan secara signifikan berkorelasi negatif dengan degradasi Fungsi Eksekutif (EF), khususnya working memory (memori kerja) dan kemampuan inibisi. Permasalahan ini diperparah oleh fenomena technoference gangguan interaksi orang tua-anak akibat gawai yang merusak proses scaffolding sosial-kognitif, serta kesenjangan substansial dalam Kompetensi Pedagogis Konten Teknologi (TPACK) di kalangan pendidik PAUD. Abstract

The low level of fine motor development in early childhood, evident in suboptimal abilities to hold writing tools, cut, paste, and perform accurate eye–hand coordination, remains a classroom challenge due to learning activities that tend to be monotonous and lack variation. This study aimed to determine the effect of batik activities using natural materials on the fine motor development of young children. A quantitative approach was employed with a quasi-experimental design, using fine motor skill tests as the data collection technique and data analysis conducted with a t-test using SPSS version 26. The results showed that children’s fine motor skills in the experimental class improved more than those in the control class. The t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. Thus, batik activities using natural materials have a significant effect on the fine motor development of young children and can be recommended as a varied and meaningful alternative learning activity to support fine motor stimulation in PAUD institutions.

Abstract

Keterbatasan fasilitas dalam kegiatan sains menyebabkan metode eksperimen jarang dilaksanakan. Hal ini menyebabkan anak-anak kurang memiliki kesempatan dalam mengembangkan kemampuan sains secara langsung. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh eksperimen magnet terhadap kemampuan sains anak di Taman kanak-kanak Nur Ilaahi Lubuk Buaya Kota Padang. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini ialah semua anak Taman Kanak-kanak Nur Ilaahi Lubuk Buaya Kota Padang, dengan jumlah 12 orang anak dari kelas B1 dan B3. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar pernyataan. Selanjutnya, data diolah menggunakan uji hipotesis (uji t) dengan bantuan SPSS 30.0 for Windows. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0.002 < 0.05. Hasilnya, diperoleh perbedaan yang sangat besar antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Maka dari itu, eksperimen magnet berdampak pada kemampuan sains anak. Dapat disimpulkan Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Jadi, eksperimen magnet berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan sains anak.
