Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of a waste pollution module based on the Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) model in shaping environmental behavior among biology students. A nonrandomized control-group pretest–posttest design was employed involving three biology student classes at Universitas Negeri Malang: the experimental class (ADI module), positive control (ADI model), and negative control (PowerPoint presentation). Data were collected using an environmental behavior questionnaire covering indicators of pro-environmental activity, non-active public behavior, and household environmental behavior. ANCOVA analysis showed that although all classes experienced an increase in posttest scores, there was no statistically significant difference among the treatment groups (p > 0.05). This indicates that the ADI module was not significantly more effective than other teaching methods in improving environmental behavior. Limitations such as online learning constraints, lack of direct interaction, and technical challenges in module implementation contributed to this outcome. Nevertheless, the ADI module has potential as a contextual learning tool and is recommended for further development into a more practical and interactive digital format.

Abstract

Students at SMAN 1 Singosari continue to demonstrate limited problem-solving skills and cognitive learning outcomes, partly due to contextually irrelevant media and reliance on LCD projectors. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and practicality of "Digestopia", an audiovisual, website-assisted electronic board game developed using the RICOSRE model (Reading, Identifying problem, Constructing solution, Solving the problem, Reviewing the problem solving, and Extending problem solution) and integrated with the SDGs' Zero Hunger initiative (Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger). The development process adopted the Lee and Owens instructional design model, which consists of four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. Data were collected using expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques to determine the average scores. The results showed that "Digestopia" was valid (90.6%) and practical (86.7%) for classroom use, indicating its potential as an interactive learning tool.

Abstract

Digital literacy is important for every student to have. Digital literacy needs to be trained and learned to form a young generation that is digitally literate so that they are ready to participate in the digital community with confidence in communicating, sharing and distributing knowledge in a useful and efficient way, provides readiness to adapt successfully to a changing work environment and increasing self-control as a solution to the spread of false information that continues to repeat itself and is increasing in number. This research aims to measure students' digital literacy at SMAN 1 Kesesi. The methods used were filling out questionnaires and conducting interviews. Seventy-six eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kesesi, Pekalongan Residence, Central Java, Indonesia, and two biology teachers were selected as the research sample in this study. The research results showed the following aspects: Firstly, the student's digital literacy questionnaire is 71%, which is classified as moderate in digital literacy indicators including finding, using sources, selecting, evaluating, considering sources, message effects, and using data to produce work; secondly, some of the things that teachers do to train these two skills are by inviting students to search for information via Google/search engines and video searches to support the teacher's explanations and using Canva to make some presentation. Unfortunately, teachers do not train them on how to search using appropriate keywords and trusted sources. Finally, teachers must be more active and innovative in maximizing the wise use of digital media to improve students' digital literacy.
