Abstract

This research aimed to assess the knowledge and behavior of the community regarding the Sustainable Reserve Food Garden (SRFG) program. The study was conducted in July 2016 in Jorong Lubuk Agam, Kenagarian Ampang Kuranji Koto Baru, Dharmasraya, West Sumatra. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected using Accidental Random Sampling, involving 33 heads of families as respondents. The findings revealed that community knowledge and behavior related to the SRFG program were generally insufficient, with 44.1% and 47.27% of respondents, respectively, demonstrating a lack of understanding and practice. The study concludes that approximately one-third of the population has limited knowledge and engagement with the SRFG program, indicating a need for further initiatives to enhance community awareness and behavior toward the implementation of the SRFG concept. Abstract

One of the global problems that often occurs in society is environmental pollution, one of which is water pollution. The impact of water pollution is in the form of ecosystem damage and decreased water quality. One of nature's efforts to prevent environmental pollution in waters is by having bioindicators in waters, one of which is microalgae. However, if the community is less sensitive to environmental sustainability, environmental pollution will continue to occur. Therefore, public awareness is needed to protect the environment, one way is to foster an attitude of environmental concern among high school students by creating teaching materials related to the environment. To make it easier for students to understand and use the teaching materials, teaching materials were made in the form of PBL-based electronic modules that integrate materials related to microalgae and water quality to improve the environmental concern of class X high school students in a valid, practical and effective manner. The subjects used in this study were four classes of class X students of SMAN 12 Makassar. The instrument used in this study was an environmental concern attitude questionnaire that had been validated by experts. The results of this study can be categorized as valid, practical and effective because the validity results obtained 100% from the material expert validator, 92.2% from media and teaching materials experts, and 89.3 from biology education practitioners. While for the practicality test, there are 3 categories, namely, for individual tests the results were 86.58%, small group tests of 87.42%, and field tests of 87.44%. The effectiveness test is divided into 5 tests, namely, normality test, homogeneity test, N gain test, T test and ANCOVA test, where all tests obtained the results of the electronic module effectively used as teaching materials for class X of high school. This shows that the electronic module has an influence on the environmental care attitude of high school students in class X.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of creative thinking skills among tenth-grade students at Public Senior High School 1 Belitang. Creative thinking skill is the ability to think in new, original, and flexible ways. It involves generating innovative ideas, solving problems in unique ways, and making connections between seemingly unrelated concepts. This skill is essential for adapting to new situations and fostering innovation across various disciplines. Creative thinking is one of the essential skills for the 21st century. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with data collection through questionnaires and interviews. A total of 96 students participated in completing the questionnaires, and interviews were conducted with 3 biology teachers. The results showed that students' average creative thinking skills were in the medium category, with a percentage of 70%. Interviews with teachers revealed that although teaching media such as PowerPoint and student worksheets were used, creative thinking skills were not explicitly taught or assessed. These findings highlight the importance of developing more innovative teaching methods and using technology and multimedia to enhance students’ creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Teaching materials in the form of electronic learning modules really help students and teachers in understanding a learning flow or process. E-Module is a digital learning media that is arranged systematically so that students can learn independently. This research aims to see differences in use of e-module Biodiversity containing Sumba's local potential based on guided inquiry with the JAS approach to increase students' environmental literacy in high school biology material. This study is a Research and Development (R&D) with the Lee & Owens (2004) model. The research population was all class X students of SMA Negeri 6 Malang for the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample in this study was 33 students for the experimental class and 37 students for the control class. Environmental literacy analysis uses the ANACOVA test with a significance level of 5%. The results of the study showed that in the ANACOVA test a significance value of 0.008, which means it is smaller than α 0.05 (Sig < 0.05). This confirms that there are significant differences between the classes that use it e-module and those who do not, so that it has an effect on increasing students' environmental literacy. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of e-module Biodiversity containing Sumba's local potential based on guided inquiry using the JAS approach can influence and increase students' environmental literacy.

Abstract

Digital literacy is important for every student to have. Digital literacy needs to be trained and learned to form a young generation that is digitally literate so that they are ready to participate in the digital community with confidence in communicating, sharing and distributing knowledge in a useful and efficient way, provides readiness to adapt successfully to a changing work environment and increasing self-control as a solution to the spread of false information that continues to repeat itself and is increasing in number. This research aims to measure students' digital literacy at SMAN 1 Kesesi. The methods used were filling out questionnaires and conducting interviews. Seventy-six eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kesesi, Pekalongan Residence, Central Java, Indonesia, and two biology teachers were selected as the research sample in this study. The research results showed the following aspects: Firstly, the student's digital literacy questionnaire is 71%, which is classified as moderate in digital literacy indicators including finding, using sources, selecting, evaluating, considering sources, message effects, and using data to produce work; secondly, some of the things that teachers do to train these two skills are by inviting students to search for information via Google/search engines and video searches to support the teacher's explanations and using Canva to make some presentation. Unfortunately, teachers do not train them on how to search using appropriate keywords and trusted sources. Finally, teachers must be more active and innovative in maximizing the wise use of digital media to improve students' digital literacy.

Abstract

Complementing science subjects with spirituality components is almost universal and is a significant requirement in religion-based schools. However, integrating spiritual components into science classes is challenging, particularly in inquiry-based problem-solving tasks. In this experiment, we modified inquiry learning and contextual teaching. We tested the efficacy of a combined model called the socio-science spirituality (3S) model on students’ spirituality and science process skills (SPS). Through a quasi-experiment, this learning model was applied in classes addressing the digestive system, additives and addictive chemicals, and the circulatory system. Following the 3S classroom implementation, we compared the mean pre- and post-test scores of the experimental and control groups using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) test and then assessed the relationship between spirituality and SPS in the classrooms using the Pearson-correlation test. The research found that spirituality and SPS were much higher and more prevalent in the experimental group compared to the control group. In the experimental class, there was also a link between spirituality and SPS. Theoretically, this research finding contributes to spiritual education and the development of SPS skills in science classes simultaneously. This research provides a unique way to prioritize the integration of spirituality in science learning. Practically, the research explain the details of the implementation of spirituality that can be applied to inquiry activities in science classes through the 3S model.
