Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia has plenty of national heroes. In education, they have the potential as a medium for transmitting values and character education. From 1959 to 2023, the president awarded the title of hero to 206 people. This number will continue to increase every year. However, the contribution of learning about national heroes has not been studied in depth. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze how national heroes' mapping in history class and the heroes' position in the Indonesian History curriculum. This paper also examines the internalization of heroic values and obstacles encountered in historical learning. Data was collected on policies related to hero titles, curriculum documents, history textbooks, and learning cases about national heroes in Semarang City. The results showed that historical learning in the Indonesian curriculum accommodated the teaching of heroes. Some material addressed the role of the hero explicitly. However, not all heroes were conveyed in the lesson. Overproduction of heroes was counterproductive to students' recognition of the value of heroism. On the one hand, the role of local heroes had not been optimally reviewed. As a result, history learning was stuck on the term "learning about heroes." History learning has not entirely made students "learn from heroes" or "learn to be heroes."

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out about the existence of internship participants and the effectiveness of activities in accordance with the objectives of the internship, where the government agency, Harbor Master's Office, and Tanjung Emas Port Authority are not places of education. Both facilities and infrastructure are not places of education, so the researcher finds out about the effectiveness and success of the activity and can create new knowledge for the interns in the activity as proven by an assessment at the beginning and end of the activity. The research results show that the internship program significantly contributes to improving the technical skills of interns. Respondents reported increased understanding of the business world of industry (DUDI), the ability to use relevant tools and technology, and the application of academic theory in practical contexts. Apart from that, internship programs also help in developing non-technical skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management. Most students feel better prepared to enter the world of work after completing an internship program. However, this research also identified several challenges faced in implementing the internship program, such as a lack of support from the internship company and limitations in the assignments given to students. Therefore, it is recommended that there be increased collaboration between educational institutions and industry to ensure internship programs that are more structured and beneficial for students.

Abstract

This research aims to empower teachers to strengthen Pancasila values in high schools throughout Indonesia through textbook-based training integrated with the Experiential Learning Cycle (ELC). Pancasila, the basic ideology of the Indonesian state, plays an important role in shaping students’ character and national identity. However, challenges such as student disengagement, conventional teaching methods, and diverse backgrounds require innovative approaches. This research develops a comprehensive teacher training management model combining textbooks and ELC, encouraging more interesting and practical teaching methods. This methodology involves an extensive literature review to build a theoretical foundation, integrating subject knowledge with pedagogical strategies, reflective methodology, and empirical research. The research results emphasize the important role of textbooks in providing structured, consistent learning and comprehensive coverage of Pancasila values. Effective teacher training programs must integrate subject matter knowledge with innovative pedagogical strategies, employ reflective methodology, use comprehensive evaluation criteria, and encourage action research. This study advocates ongoing, collaborative, and subject-specific professional development for teachers. Applying Kolb’s Experience-Based Learning Theory enriches Pancasila education, making it more relevant and impactful for students. This approach ensures that teachers are well-equipped to deliver dynamic and effective Pancasila education, cultivating a generation of students embodying these important national values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the participation of Paskibraka members influences their attitudes towards unity and tolerance amidst Indonesia's cultural diversity. Paskibraka, as a youth organization playing a crucial role in state ceremonies, not only prepares its members for ceremonial duties but also fosters the internalization of values of nationalism and tolerance. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with Paskibraka members and field observations during their educational and training camps. The research findings indicate that participation in Paskibraka provides profound experiences for its members, where they learn to appreciate national symbols and understand the importance of unity and diversity. Paskibraka members also engage in social activities that promote national values and tolerance, significantly strengthening their national identity. The study found that the direct experience of raising the national flag and involvement in social activities enhances members' awareness of the importance of unity and tolerance, as well as developing an inclusive attitude towards cultural differences. These findings highlight the importance of supporting extracurricular programs like Paskibraka in the national education system to shape young generations with a spirit of patriotism and a commitment to diversity.
