Abstract

Leadership in an educational institution is seen more in school leadership. While on the other hand there is teacher leadership which is very urgent for its existence teaching quality. This teaching practice is an activity that is directly in contact with users of educational services, namely students. Many things related to teacher leadership have an impact on teaching practice. This study seeks to explain the influence of teacher leadership on teaching practice by using the teacher-student relationship as mediation. The quantitative method was used in this study through an electronic questionnaire filled out by 130 teachers from eight private Islamic elementary schools in the city and district of Mojokerto. Using SEM (structural equation modeling) techniques through the SMART PLS 4.0 application, we examined the data to ascertain the direct and indirect influence of teacher leadership on teaching practice. The indirect effect was observed using the teacher-student relationship as the mediating variable. The observation results show that teacher leadership has a significant direct or indirect effect on teaching practice. The mediating nature of the teacher-student relationship is partial mediation. The findings in this study show the urgency of teacher leadership in teaching practice through institutional, professional development and collaboration with fellow teachers. Furthermore, teacher-student relations which include handling conflicts and building closeness with students also play a role for quality teaching practices. This research provides additional evidence regarding the urgency of the role of teacher leadership aspects in teaching, in addition to professional, pedagogic, social and personality aspects which have been used so far in the world of education in Indonesia.

In facing the era of globalization and increasing business competition, attention to employee performance becomes crucial. In this context, work stress and work culture become the primary focus of research. This literature review utilizes the literature study method to investigate the impact of work stress and work culture on employee performance. Work stress, arising from high pressure and uncertainty in the work environment, is examined in the context of its effects on psychological well-being and employee productivity. In line with that, the role of work culture, encompassing values, norms, and beliefs within the organization, is explained in the context of its influence on employee motivation and performance. Through the literature study method, this research presents key findings from previous studies to provide a deep understanding of the complexity of the interaction between work stress, work culture, and employee performance. These findings are expected to contribute to practical and theoretical insights into human resource management strategies in this era of globalization, where emphasis on stress management and the development of positive work culture is imperative for achieving optimal employee performance.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to ascertain the extent of the gap between the human resources presently available in the Republic of Indonesia (the number of study programs classified into fields of science existing in Indonesian higher education) and those required in the future to realize the Visi Indonesia Emas 2045. Furthermore, it seeks to identify how resource orchestration can narrow this gap through the lens of Resource Orchestration Theory (ROT). Design/Methods/Approach: The study employs a qualitative research methodology utilizing secondary data sources, namely higher education statistical data issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and gross domestic product industrial data issued by the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency. Findings: This study finds a mismatch between the sector and study program by field of study both nationally and regionally. Nationally, some top sectors are not supported by specific study programs in accordance with their needs. Regionally, there is a mismatch between the distribution of study programs by field of study and the top industries in some region Originality/Value: This research contributes to the existing body of literature on ROT by exploring its applicability to the country’s human resources. While previous studies have employed ROT in organisational settings, this is one of the first to examine the theory in the country-level analysis. Furthermore, research on ROT has typically relied on surveys that are vulnerable to bias. This study, however, employs a distinctive and more comprehensive approach, namely the secondary data analysis. Practical/Policy implication: It is imperative that higher education institutions adopt a resource orchestration theory, which entails discontinuing study programs that fail to reflect the current and future priorities of the industrial sector. This necessitates the establishment of future-oriented programs of study that are aligned with the evolving requirements of the industry and the development of curricula that equip human capital with the skills and knowledge that are required in the future.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Muhammadiyah is one of the largest religious organizations in Indonesia which owns and manages the largest non-profit hospitals for more than a hundred years. Muhammadiyah Hospital is a model of social entrepreneurship organization (SEO). Studies related to the performance of Muhammadiyah hospital organizations and their relationship with several other related variables have not been widely conducted and have focused more on Muhammadiyah's philanthropic activities and roles, Muhammadiyah's history in the field of health services, and the ethics of Muhammadiyah's health service. Therefore, this research aims to explore the relationship of variables Servant Leadership, Managerial Cognitive Capability, and Emotional Regulation to shape Organizational Performance (OP) with intermediate variable: Leadership Effectiveness in Muhammadiyah Hospitals. This research utilizes primary data which was collected through phone-call surveys with 443 top and middle management respondents at 111 Muhammadiyah Hospitals in Indonesia. The data was collected by trained and experienced Enumerators using structured questionnaire designed specifically for each type of respondents. Methods: The study utilizes Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) methods using Maximum Likelihood Estimation. The method is used to analyze the influence of variables Servant Leadership, Managerial Cognitive Capability, and Emotional Regulation: Improving and Worsening (IMP and WOR) on Organizational Performance (OP) with Leadership Effectiveness as a mediator. Results: The study results found that Servant Leadership, Managerial Cognitive Capability, and Emotional Regulation: Improving (IMP) have a positive effect on Leadership Effectiveness. The increasing Servant Leadership, Managerial Cognitive Capability, and Emotional Regulation: Improving (IMP) will increase Leadership Effectiveness. Meanwhile, Emotional Regulation: Worsening (WOR) has a negative effect on Leadership Effectiveness. Increasing Emotional Regulation: Worsening (WOR) will reduce Leadership Effectiveness. The analysis results show that Leadership Effectiveness variable directly affects Organization Performance positively, in terms of the effect of Leadership Effectiveness as a mediate variable. Conclusion:This research concludes that leadership effectiveness play an important role in the cognitive abilities of hospital directors in driving hospital performance and the hospital director's cognitive ability is the key to strengthen leadership effectiveness. Considering limitations of this research, future studies should employ a-mix method of quantitative and qualitative data collection technique to bring deeper analysis results, as well as include diverse leadership types other than servant leadership to explore their relationship with the organization performance.

Abstract

Work engagement has a contribution to the success of an organization. Governmental institutions are often criticized for showing less satisfying performance and less effective services due to the misconducts of the civil servants such as coming late to work, leaving at working hours, and being less enthusiastic at work. This study aimed to examine civil servants' working conditions using three variables, namely leader-member exchange, psychological well-being, and work engagement. The measuring tools used referred to the Leader-Member Exchange Multidimensional (Liden & Maslyn, 1998), Psychological Well-being Scale (Ryff, 1989) and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2004). There were 80 civil servants involved in this study as the subjects. They were selected using simple random sampling technique. Statistical techniques used in this study Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with Warp PLS 5.0 Software. The result indicated that the three variables had a positive correlation with one another, and psychological well-being mediated the influence of leader-member exchange on work engagement.
