Abstract

Abstract. Aging naturally reduces physiology, increasing susceptibility to injuries, particularly in the knee joint, which supports substantial body weight and is vulnerable to osteoarthritis and ligament injuries. The current study investigates the effectiveness of leg muscle strength training in reducing knee pain intensity among elderly women aged 45 years and older residing in Gayamsari District, Semarang. A pre-experimental design employing a one-group pre-test post-test approach was implemented. Forty-two participants were selected using purposive sampling methods. The intervention involved leg muscle strengthening exercises conducted twice per week for six weeks, with each session lasting 40 minutes. Knee pain intensity was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale both prior to and following the intervention. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon signed ranks test due to non-normally distributed data. Findings indicated a statistically significant reduction in knee pain intensity, with average pre-test pain scores recorded at 3.2 ± 2.2 and average post-test scores recorded at 0.9 ± 1.4 (p = 0.000). Of the participants, 40 demonstrated a reduction in pain levels, whereas 2 participants showed no improvement, potentially influenced by additional medical conditions including gout and hypertension. In conclusion, leg muscle strength training significantly contributed to reducing knee pain intensity in elderly women, thereby justifying inclusion in rehabilitation programs targeting knee pain associated with osteoarthritis and ligament injuries. Further research is recommended to investigate tailored training protocols that account for co-morbid conditions and their impact on pain management efficacy. Abstract in Indonesia. Penuaan secara alami mengurangi fisiologi, meningkatkan kerentanan terhadap cedera, terutama pada sendi lutut, yang menopang berat tubuh yang substansial dan rentan terhadap osteoatritis dan cedera ligamen. Penelitian saat ini menyelidiki efektivitas latihan kekuatan otot kaki dalam mengurangi intensitas nyeri lutut di antara wanita lanjut usia berusia 45 tahun ke atas yang tinggal di Kecamatan Gayamsari, Semarang. Desain pra-eksperimental yang menggunakan pendekatan satu kelompok pra-tes pasca-tes diterapkan. Empat puluh dua peserta dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Intervensi melibatkan latihan penguatan otot kaki yang dilakukan dua kali seminggu selama enam minggu, dengan setiap sesi berlangsung selama 40 menit. Intensitas nyeri lutut dinilai menggunakan Numerical Rating Scale sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji peringkat bertanda Wilcoxon karena data tidak terdistribusi normal. Temuan menunjukkan pengurangan signifikan secara statistik dalam intensitas nyeri lutut, dengan skor nyeri pra-tes rata-rata tercatat sebesar 3,2 ± 2,2 dan skor pasca-tes rata-rata tercatat sebesar 0,9 ± 1,4 (p = 0,000). Dari peserta, 40 menunjukkan pengurangan tingkat nyeri, sedangkan 2 peserta tidak menunjukkan perbaikan, yang mungkin dipengaruhi oleh kondisi medis tambahan termasuk asam urat dan hipertensi. Sebagai kesimpulan, latihan kekuatan otot kaki berkontribusi signifikan terhadap pengurangan intensitas nyeri lutut pada wanita lanjut usia, sehingga membenarkan dimasukkannya dalam program rehabilitasi yang menargetkan nyeri lutut yang terkait dengan osteoatritis dan cedera ligamen. Penelitian lebih lanjut direkomendasikan untuk menyelidiki protokol pelatihan yang disesuaikan yang memperhitungkan kondisi komorbiditas dan dampaknya terhadap kemanjuran manajemen nyeri.

Abstract

Abstract. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of FIFA 11+ training on the speed improvement of SSB Spartan FC football players. The population of this study consisted of 20 players, all of whom were included as the sample through a saturation sampling technique. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design, in which measurements were taken before and after the intervention to assess the effect of FIFA 11+ training on players’ speed. The training program was implemented for 45 minutes per session over a period of four weeks. Speed performance was measured using a 20-meter sprint test. The results showed that the average speed before training (pretest) was 3.80 seconds, while after training (post-test) it improved to 3.60 seconds. The paired t-test results yielded a p-value of 0.000, indicating that p < 0.05 and, therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected. It can be concluded that FIFA 11+ training had a significant effect on improving the speed of SSB Spartan FC football players. Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan FIFA 11+ terhadap peningkatan kecepatan pemain sepak bola SSB Spartan FC. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 20 pemain, yang seluruhnya dijadikan sampel dengan teknik sampling jenuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu (quasi-experimental) dengan rancangan one group pretest–posttest design, yaitu pengukuran dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan FIFA 11+ terhadap peningkatan kecepatan pemain. Program latihan dilaksanakan selama 4 minggu dengan durasi 45 menit setiap sesi. Pengukuran kecepatan dilakukan menggunakan tes lari sprint 20 meter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kecepatan sebelum latihan (pretest) adalah 3,80 detik, sedangkan setelah latihan (posttest) meningkat menjadi 3,60 detik. Hasil uji-t berpasangan (paired t-test) menunjukkan nilai p = 0,000, yang berarti p < 0,05 sehingga H₀ ditolak. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan FIFA 11+ berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kecepatan pemain sepak bola SSB Spartan FC.

Abstract

Abstract. Injuries resulting from physical activity can limit an individual’s mobility and performance. Appropriate therapeutic interventions are therefore required to minimize the risk and impact of injury. The present study aims to examine the effectiveness of a combination of effleurage and trigger point therapy in reducing pain caused by delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) among Muara Enim United athletes. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total sampling technique was applied, involving sixteen athletes as both the population and sample. The treatment was administered three times over the course of one week. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with the SPSS version 26 software. The independent variable was the combination of effleurage and trigger point therapy, while the dependent variable was the intensity of delayed onset muscle soreness. The results indicated a decrease in the mean pain score on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) to 3.8/10 after three treatment sessions. The findings demonstrate that the combination of effleurage and trigger point therapy effectively reduces pain intensity associated with DOMS when applied three times within one week. Abstrak. Cedera yang terjadi akibat aktivitas fisik dapat membatasi pergerakan dan performa seseorang. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan intervensi terapi yang tepat untuk meminimalkan risiko serta dampak cedera. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas kombinasi teknik pijat effleurage dan trigger point therapy dalam menurunkan nyeri akibat delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) pada atlet Muara Enim United. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi-eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest–posttest. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling dengan jumlah populasi dan sampel sebanyak enam belas atlet. Perlakuan diberikan sebanyak tiga kali dalam jangka waktu satu minggu. Analisis data menggunakan uji Wilcoxon dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 26. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah kombinasi teknik effleurage dan trigger point therapy, sedangkan variabel terikat adalah intensitas nyeri DOMS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan nilai rata-rata nyeri pada Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) menjadi 3,8/10 setelah tiga kali perlakuan. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa kombinasi pijat effleurage dan trigger point therapy efektif dalam menurunkan intensitas nyeri akibat DOMS dengan pemberian terapi sebanyak tiga kali dalam satu minggu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) dengan pendekatan teacing at the right level (TaRL) terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pretest-posttest dimana hanya dilakukan pada satu sekolah tanpa adanya pembanding. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SDN 06 Pasir Jambak yang berjumlah 31 orang. Sampel penelitian ini ditentukan dengan teknik convenience sampling yaitu sampel tersebut ada pada tempat dan waktu yang tepat. Data penelitian ini berupa kemampuan membaca pemahaman yang dikumpulkan dengan tes objektif pilihan ganda yang dirancang sesuai dengan pembelajaran yang telah dilaksanakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa setelah penerapan strategi DRTA dengan pendekatan TaRL. Rata-rata nilai posttest (84,35) lebih tinggi dibandingkan rata-rata nilai pretest (80,32). Analisis statistik menggunakan uji t berpasangan (paired t-test) menunjukkan nilai signifikan (Sig. = 0.005 < 0.05) menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata nilai pretest dan posttest. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi DRTA dan pendekatan TaRL berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an aerobic and resistance training program in improving forced vital capacity (FVC) in young athletes participating in the DBON program (Desain Besar Olahraga Nasional). The study included 19 participants aged 13 to 16, including 7 boys and 12 girls, who underwent a 15-week training program. To ensure measurement accuracy, FVC values were taken before and after the training program with a spirometer. The intervention resulted in a modest increase in FVC values in the male group, from 3.7±0.4 to 3.7±1.3 liters (p=0.509). Females had significantly lower FVC levels (3.4±1.1 liters vs. 3.9±2.7 liters) (p=0.047). Other variables, such as forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and peak expiratory flow (PEF), showed no significant differences between the male and female groups before and after therapy. These findings indicate that both endurance and strength training can improve vital capacity, but the response may vary by gender. This work can be utilized to build individualized training programs for young athletes, taking into account sex-specific physiological characteristics to increase training effects and sports performance.

Abstract

A holistic education demands attention not only to the academic aspect, but also to the emotional and social development of students. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a strategic approach that has been proven to support the overall well-being of students. This study aims to analyze the strategies used by teachers in implementing SEL to improve students' wellbeing. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a literature study approach, which involves the analysis of fifteen articles from national and international journals published from 2020 to 2025. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed thematically to identify patterns of SEL implementation strategies by teachers and their relationship with the dimension of student welfare. The results of the study showed five main categories of strategies: integration of SEL values in the curriculum, reflective learning practices, creation of an empathetic classroom environment, provision of counseling guidance services, and teacher professional competency training. These five strategies contribute to strengthening emotional regulation, social relationships, confidence, and student learning motivation. This study concludes that effective SEL implementation requires strong teacher competence, a supportive school culture, and consistent implementation at all levels of education.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a 15-week structured training program combining strength and aerobic exercises with progressive overload principles on body fat percentage and muscle mass in young athletes participating in Indonesia's National Sports Grand Design (DBON). Using a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measurements, 19 athletes aged 13–16 from four sports disciplines at Universitas Negeri Semarang were assessed via InBody 270. Results indicated no significant changes in muscle mass (male: 28.5 ± 2.7 kg to 29.0 ± 2.4 kg, p>0.05; female: 24.7 ± 4.0 kg to 24.6 ± 3.9 kg, p>0.05) or body fat percentage (male: 7.8 ± 5.9 kg; female: 11.6 ± 3.8 kg, p>0.05). A weak positive correlation was found between BMI and fat/muscle mass (rho = 0.124, p = 0.612). The findings suggest that the 15-week program was insufficient to induce significant body composition changes, highlighting the need for longer intervention periods, individualized training adjustments, and integrated nutritional strategies to optimize outcomes for young athletes.

Abstract

Instilling empathy values from an early age is an important aspect in children's social-emotional development, especially at the elementary school level. Along with the advancement of digital technology, educational game applications are beginning to be used as learning media that are not only informative, but also emotionally transformative. This study aims to explore how the experience of elementary school students in using educational game applications can contribute to increased empathy. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature review of various relevant previous studies. The results of the study showed that educational games designed with strong narratives, role-play features, and social interaction in the game, were able to build emotional attachment of players to the characters, as well as facilitate perspective taking. This study concludes that interactive and meaningful educational games are effective in increasing the empathy of elementary school students by building emotional connectedness and social sensitivity, so that it becomes an important learning medium in character formation from an early age.

Abstract

This research departs from the fact that there are still few studies that discuss how parenting at home affects the character development of children in elementary school. In fact, parenting at home plays a big role in shaping children's values, attitudes, and behaviors, both at school and in daily life. This study aims to explain the influence of parental parenting on the character development of elementary school students through literature studies. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collected from various academic journals through platforms such as Google Scholar and Publish or Perish. The results of the analysis show that parental parenting has a significant effect on the formation of children's character, both in the school environment and in daily life. These findings confirm the importance of collaboration between schools and parents in designing parenting styles that support children's character development. In addition to enriching theoretical studies on family-based character education, this study also provides practical recommendations for the development of more effective parenting.

Abstract

This study is a literature review that aims to examine the role of mindfulness in the regulation of emotions and its relation to students' academic achievement. Studies have shown that mindfulness can improve self-awareness, acceptance without judgment, as well as the ability to be present in the present moment. These abilities contribute significantly to healthier and adaptive emotional management. This study uses a literature review approach with  a systematic review type  to understand the relationship between mindfulness, emotion regulation, and student academic achievement. The study relies on scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 and obtained from trusted sources such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Google Scholar, and DOAJ with relevant keywords. Good emotional regulation allows students to be more focused, calm, and resilient in the face of learning pressure, which ultimately has a positive impact on academic achievement. The review also highlights the importance of implementing mindfulness programs in elementary school settings as part of efforts to improve psychological well-being and learning quality. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that mindfulness be one of the approaches that can be integrated into learning strategies to support students' emotional and academic development in a balanced manner.
