Abstract

The Abbasid Dynasty has produced many important figures who made great contributions to the development of Islamic civilization. Caliphs such as Abu al-Abbas alSaffah, Abu Ja'far al-Manshur, Harun ar-Rasyid, and Al-Ma'mun played a very good role in advancing the Abbasid Caliphate, both in terms of politics, economy, and science. It should be noted that the Abbasid Dynasty was an Islamic government that implemented a more open and tolerant policy towards non-Muslims, such as Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians. Thus, giving birth to pluralism, thus encouraging the development of more diverse science and culture. The purpose of this study is to determine the learning methods used in mosques during the Abbasid Dynasty and to analyze the influence of mosques on the development of Islamic science and education during the Abbasid Dynasty. This research was conducted using a literature review system approach. This approach views existing literature as part of an interrelated system, where each element (theory, concept, research findings) influences and interacts with each other to form a more comprehensive understanding. The results of this study indicate that the characteristic of the peak of the glory of the Abbasid Dynasty was significant progress in the field of science, marked by the large number of Muslim scientists in the Abbasid era and the main factor in the glory of the Abbasid Dynasty was the establishment of Bait al-Hikmah, kuttab, and mosques as centers of learning at that time.

Abstract

The rapid rise in urban growth and health-conscious behavior in Pangkalpinang has spurred a demand for hydroponic vegetables. This study seeks to explore the factors shaping consumers' decision to purchase hydroponic vegetables in this area. By employing a quantitative research design, survey data were gathered from 170 respondents, focusing on demographic characteristics, variables related to socioeconomic status, perception as psychological influence, and marketing elements. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was applied to identify the key predictors of purchasing behavior, alongside the application of the STP (Segmentation, Targeting, Positioning) strategy to enhance sales. The results show that most consumers are women working in the private sector, with a bachelor's degree, earning between Rp 4,000,000 and Rp 6,000,000, aged 17-25 years, married, and residing in Gabek District. The factors directly and significantly influence the decision to purchase hydroponic vegetables are product, income and perception. Price, however, does not have a direct effect. Nonetheless, price has a significant indirect impact on purchasing decision through its influence on perception. The marketing strategy employs the STP model to create an appealing product image and attract potential consumers. This approach integrates excellent customer service, attractive packaging, promotional pricing, and product innovation.

Abstract

Climate change, such as flooding, is indeed a major challenge for the agricultural sector. However, farmers continue to try to overcome this impact by increasing the use of agricultural technology. The objectives of this research are (1) analyzing farmers' perceptions and levels of adoption of rice productivity in three land typologies, namely lowland swamp, tidal and rainfed land in South Sumatra, (2) analyzing the influence of socio-economic characteristics on the level of technology adoption, (3) rational behavior of farmers in dealing with floods as an impact of climate change (4) adaptation strategies for facing climate change. The sampling method used was a simple random sampling. The population of rice farmers is 854 farmers. By using the slovin method (α=0.1), 90 sample farmers were obtained. Data was collected through deep interviews in three regency in South Sumatera.  Data processing uses are simultaneous multiple correlation test with SPSS software for the influence of socio-economic, KMO (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) method and Bartlett's test for testing rational behavior of farmers, and SWOT analysis for adaptation strategies. The research results show that farmers have adopted technology in the form of tractors, organic fertilizer, inorganic fertilizer, pesticides, combine harvesters, superior variety seeds, and rice threshing machines. The adoption rate in three regency of South Sumatra is in the high category, there is a relationship between perception and adoption level on productivity. On land with a lowland swamps and tidal lowland typology, farmers are more likely to pay attention to the technology used during irrigation and harvesting. Meanwhile, the typology of rainfed swamps includes planting methods and superior variety seeds. Tthe success of farming on three different technology is very dependent on proper irrigation using a system of opening and closing sluice gates. Therefore, for rainfed land, a water management system must be implemented to deal with the impacts of climate change.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an essential competency for prospective science educators in understanding scientific concepts, applying scientific methods, and making decisions based on scientific evidence. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Ecotourism-Based Field Practicum Model (MPLBE) in improving the scientific literacy of prospective biology teacher students. The subjects of the study were students of the Biology Education study program, FKIP, Mataram University, who took the vertebrate Zoology course. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental group used the MPLBE model that focused on the study of ecology and conservation of the Megapodius reinwardt bird in the Gunung Tunak and Kerandangan Nature Tourism Parks, while the control group followed conventional practicums in the laboratory. The research instrument was a scientific literacy test that had been validated by experts. Quantitative analysis was performed on the effectiveness of the model using N-Gain and the Mann-Whitney Test. The results of the data analysis showed a significant difference in the increase in scientific literacy scores between the experimental and control groups. These findings indicate that the MPLBE model is effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This model not only strengthens the understanding of biological concepts contextually, but also builds environmental awareness and scientific thinking skills of prospective biology teachers. This study recommends the integration of ecotourism in biology learning as an innovative approach based on local potential.
