Abstract

The halal industry in Indonesia faces a dual imperative: meeting Islamic ethical standards while addressing growing environmental sustainability demands. Despite extensive quantitative research linking Green Human Resource Management (GHRM), Green Knowledge Sharing (GKS), and Organizational Citizenship Behavior for the Environment (OCBE) to Employee Green Performance (EGP), the social processes underlying EGP formation in values-based Islamic organizations remain theoretically underdeveloped. This paper proposes a conceptual framework grounded in Grounded Theory methodology to theorize how EGP is constructed through the interplay of GHRM, GKS, and OCBE, moderated by Green Prophetic Leadership (GPL) in the halal industry of West Java, Indonesia. Drawing on Resource-Based View (RBV) and Social Exchange Theory (SET) as sensitizing concepts, we develop five theoretical propositions and a substantive model organized around the core category of prophetically-anchored green identity construction. This framework contributes to the emerging discourse on Islamic organizational behavior and green management, offering context-sensitive theoretical alternatives to variance-based models dominant in current sustainability management research.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid advancement of digital technology demands strong digital competence, particularly among civil servants in educational institutions. This study aims to examine the influence of digital competence on civil servants’ performance, investigating both direct effects and indirect pathways through employee engagement and interpersonal communication. Methodology: A quantitative survey method was employed involving 150 civil servants working in public educational institutions in Riau, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Main Findings: The results indicate that digital competence has a significant positive impact on performance, both directly and indirectly. Employee engagement and interpersonal communication serve as effective mediators that enhance the relationship between digital competence and performance. The findings suggest that civil servants who possess strong digital skills, coupled with high engagement and effective interpersonal communication, demonstrate better job performance. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers a novel contribution by integrating psychological (employee engagement) and relational (interpersonal communication) dimensions as mediators in the relationship between digital competence and performance. While previous studies have focused mainly on technological aspects, this research highlights the importance of human and social factors in driving performance in digitally transforming institutions. The implication of these findings points to the need for a more holistic approach to digital transformation policies in the public sector, where capacity building should not only address technical skills but also foster engagement and communication abilities among employees.

Abstract

Purpose – This study systematically reviews empirical research on the relationship between Big Five personality dimensions and workplace emotions over the past decade, proposes an integrative conceptual framework, and identifies directions for future research. Design/methodology/approach – A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed following PRISMA guidelines across four stages: identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. Searches were conducted on Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis Online, and Google Scholar using Boolean keyword combinations. A structured quality appraisal rubric was applied to all eligible articles by two independent reviewers. Finding/Results – From 458 identified articles, 19 met all inclusion criteria. Thematic synthesis reveals consistent patterns: neuroticism is the strongest predictor of negative workplace emotions (stress, anxiety, burnout) mediated by maladaptive emotion regulation; extraversion and agreeableness consistently associate with positive emotions and prosocial interpersonal quality; conscientiousness functions as an emotional buffer, and is the strongest predictor of job performance; and openness to experience supports emotional flexibility, particularly in dynamic environments. Emotion regulation and emotional labor serve as the primary mediating mechanisms. Affective events theory is confirmed as a robust framework for understanding personality–emotion linkages at work. Originality/Value – This study contributes an integrative conceptual framework linking Big Five traits, emotion regulation strategies, and workplace emotional outcomes, with contextual factors as moderators. Practical implications are provided for personnel selection, employee development, and organizational well-being interventions.

Abstract

This study examines the structural relationships among financial literacy, lifestyle, and financial management behavior among Generation Z university students in Indonesia, addressing concerns about weak financial decision-making amid increasing digital consumption and lifestyle-oriented spending. A quantitative explanatory design was employed, involving 250 undergraduate students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that financial literacy has a significant positive effect on financial management behavior both directly and indirectly through lifestyle, confirming lifestyle as a key mediating variable. This result reinforces that financial knowledge alone is insufficient unless it is internalized into daily lifestyle patterns that guide financial decisions. This study contributes theoretically by positioning lifestyle as a behavioral transmission mechanism linking financial literacy to financial management behavior, thereby extending behavioral finance and planned behavior perspectives in a Generation Z context. In practice, the findings offer insights for designing holistic financial education programs that integrate financial knowledge with lifestyle-oriented and behaviorally tailored interventions for digitally native youth.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum was introduced to increase learning flexibility, encourage project-based learning, and integrate technology and local culture in the educational process. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including the varying readiness of educators, limited educational infrastructure, and disparities in access to technology and learning resources between regions, particularly in remote areas. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in secondary schools using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. The study employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the PRISMA framework to identify, screen, and analyze relevant studies. A total of 26 articles published between 2022 and 2024 were selected and analyzed to understand the effectiveness, opportunities, and challenges of curriculum implementation. The findings indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum provides greater flexibility in learning, promotes project-based learning, and supports the development of 21st century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. In addition, the curriculum has a positive impact on increasing students’ learning motivation and encouraging more contextual learning practices. However, the effectiveness of its implementation is highly dependent on the readiness of teachers, the availability of learning infrastructure, and consistent policy support. To optimize the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, strengthening teacher capacity through continuous professional development, improving educational infrastructure, and refining project-based and authentic assessment systems are essential. Continuous evaluation and adaptive strategies are also needed to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant to global educational demands. The findings of this study provide insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers in improving the effectiveness of curriculum implementation and in designing more inclusive and sustainable educational policies in Indonesia

Abstract

In the learning process, students’ beliefs in their own abilities do not form spontaneously; instead, they develop through experiences shaped by classroom dynamics and the quality of pedagogical interaction. Low self-efficacy is often a major obstacle to economic learning, especially when students encounter material that requires conceptual analysis and numerical skills. To understand how such self-beliefs are constructed in real classroom contexts, this study explores students’ subjective experiences of interpreting an autonomy-supportive learning climate and how this climate strengthens their self-efficacy. The research employed a qualitative approach using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) design and involved six grade XI social science students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and documentation, and were analyzed following IPA procedures. The findings generated four key themes: (1) teacher-provided autonomy that fosters confidence through opportunities for student choice; (2) verbal encouragement that helps students interpret their abilities positively; (3) small mastery experiences that serve as internal validation of competence; and (4) a positive classroom atmosphere that provides psychological safety for active participation and exploration. These results emphasize that self-efficacy development is a socio-psychological process influenced by emotional states, interpersonal support, and meaningful learning experiences. The study highlights the importance of creating a learning climate responsive to students’ psychological needs as an effective pedagogical strategy for enhancing self-efficacy in economics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to map and conceptualise the development of research on school leadership in Islamic schools through a bibliometric approach. This study analyses 150 internationally indexed scientific articles using citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic mapping to identify publication trends, research focus, scientific structure, and dominant geographical context in Islamic school leadership research. The analysis shows that studies on Islamic school leadership have increased significantly over the last two decades, with a strong emphasis on spiritual leadership, religious values, moral legitimacy, and character development. These findings indicate that Western educational leadership theories, such as instructional, transformational, and distributed leadership, have limitations in explaining Islamic school leadership practices rooted in belief systems and spiritual values. The theoretical contribution of this study lies in affirming Islamic school leadership as an integrative, contextual model that combines managerial, pedagogical, and spiritual dimensions. Conceptually, this study expands the discourse on educational leadership by presenting a non-Western perspective grounded in values and beliefs (faith-based leadership), while also closing a research gap by providing a comprehensive mapping of the scientific landscape of Islamic school leadership as a basis for further in-depth, contextual research. The conclusion of this study affirms that Islamic school leadership is an integrative model grounded in religious and spiritual values, distinct from the Western leadership paradigm. This leadership is not only oriented toward school effectiveness but also toward safeguarding the ethical and transcendent mission of Islamic education.
