Abstract

Misconceptions are seen as a learning barrier because they hinder students from learning and understanding new concepts. Misconceptions about mastering physics concepts occur in Newton’s Laws. The language that is difficult to understand and errors in writing are some of the causes. To overcome those problems, this study aims to use a comic-based e-module assisted by a flipbook maker to remediate misconceptions about Newton’s Laws. The research method is a pre-experimental design, with one group for prе-tеѕt and pоѕt-tеѕt. A total of 22 samples were selected based on the purposive sampling technique. The data were collected twice during the pretest and post-test using a three-tier multiple-choice diagnostic test consisting of 20 items. The analysis of misconception remediation indicates a decrease in misconceptions from 57.01% to 20.24%, with an N-Gain score of 0.71. This implies a significant reduction of misconceptions before and after treatment. This data is also supported by the results of the Wilcoxon test analysis, that is, 0.000<0.5, which means that the use of comic-based e-module significantly affects the remediation of students’ misconceptions of Newton’s Law material. This e-module is expected to be an alternative for teachers in remediating misconceptions in learning physics.

Project Based Learning (PjBL) has many advantages but has not been widely implemented, let alone linked to entrepreneurial activities in schools. Entrepreneurship in schools, especially those taught by chemistry teachers, still has not produced crafts that link chemical knowledge therein. The aim of the research carried out was to analyze how much influence the application of the PjBL model has in improving students' creative thinking skills and entrepreneurial interest. The research method uses a one group pretest-posttest design approach. The research sample was selected using proportional sampling with data collection techniques, namely test techniques and distributing questionnaires which were then analyzed using the paired sample t test. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a positive significant difference between before and after treatment. This shows an increase in students' creative thinking abilities and entrepreneurial interest after implementing the PjBL learning model.

Abstract

Oral diseases, especially caries and malnutrition, are two major problems the world faces in developing countries. World Health Organization (WHO) report 2019 states that caries is the first non-communicable disease (NCD) suffered by children worldwide. In addition, malnutrition rates are still very high and most of them are in low-income countries. Many studies have suggested a relationship between oral health and children's nutritional status. However, the relationship between the two has not been consistent. Therefore, we conducted a scoping review to learn more about the relationship in developing countries. We obtained a total of 1,707 articles published in the last 10 years from two databases, Scopus and Science Direct. Ten relevant articles, written in English and published from 2015 to 2024, were reviewed and satisfied the inclusion criteria: a study about the relationship between oral health problems and nutritional status of 6 years old children and below who live in developing countries,. The 10reviewed articles were taken from eight developing countries in which nine articles used a cross-sectional design and only one article used a longitudinal cohort design. The results of the review shows that caries status studies related to nutritional status are five studies. Meanwhile, the remaining 5 articles shows no substantial relationship. In this scope, we used BMI (Body Mass Index) as an indicator for nutritional status. Further research is still needed, particularly in a longitudinal cohort design to get a clearer understanding of the causal relationship between both.
