The study employs a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 105 parents of students at MI Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Probolinggo. The analysis results show that Service Quality, School Reputation, and Religious Values have a significant impact on Parental Preferences. Among these three variables, Religious Values have the greatest influence, followed by Service Quality and School Reputation. The F-test indicates that all three independent variables simultaneously have a significant impact on parental preferences, with an R² value of 0.674, indicating that 67.4% of the variation in parental preferences can be explained by the regression model used. This study concludes that Religious Values play a major role in influencing parental decisions in choosing a school, and improvements in service quality and school reputation also contribute significantly to parental preferences. These findings provide recommendations for educational institutions to strengthen religious values, service quality, and school reputation to enhance parental attraction and preferences.

Abstract

The urgency of this study is based on the phenomenon of declining social attitudes among students in school environments, such as low levels of empathy, cooperation, and social responsibility, as well as the limited number of empirical studies examining the relationship between emotional intelligence and social attitudes in the context of Islamic junior high school education. This study aims to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on students’ social attitudes at MTs Miftahul Ulum and to analyze the extent of emotional intelligence’s contribution to the development of students’ social attitudes. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The research population consisted of all 120 students of MTs Miftahul Ulum, with a sample of 60 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring emotional intelligence and students’ social attitudes. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression assisted by SPSS, after meeting the required assumption tests. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a significant and positive effect on students’ social attitudes, with a significance value of 0.000. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination shows that emotional intelligence contributes 69.6% to the variation in students’ social attitudes. Abstract

This study examines the concept of uswah hasanah in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 as a theological and pedagogical foundation for prophetic moral education in Islam. The background of this research is the global moral crisis, marked by the rise of individualism, materialism, and the reduction of education to a merely technical-cognitive process that neglects ethical and spiritual dimensions. The objective of this research is to analyze the theological and pedagogical dimensions of uswah hasanah, to explore the relevance of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ moral values in the context of modern Islamic education, and to formulate a prophetic educational model that is responsive to the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, using content analysis of classical Ahlussunnah wal Jama‘ah tafsir, classical Islamic educational works, and contemporary educational literature. The findings indicate that uswah hasanah embodies three main dimensions of prophetic education: the spiritual dimension (tazkiyah al-nafs), the moral dimension (ta’dib), and the social dimension (mas’uliyyah insaniyyah). The Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ exemplary character is understood not merely as a normative principle but as a pedagogical paradigm that integrates faith (iman), knowledge (‘ilm), and action (‘amal) in the character formation process. This study emphasizes the need to reorient Islamic education from an instructional-cognitive approach toward character development grounded in the lived example of the Prophet. Practically, this research proposes a prophetic education model that positions the teacher as a living example (uswah amaliyah), integrates prophetic values into the curriculum, and fosters a cultured, ethical educational environment in response to the contemporary moral crisis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of majelis taklim activities on adolescent religious literacy in the Imam Syafi'i Mosque environment in Sampit. The urgency of the study is based on the need to strengthen adolescent religious literacy in the digital era characterized by the rapid flow of religious information with varying quality and authority, so that a structured and credible development space is needed through mosque-based non-formal Islamic education. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design. The study population was all adolescents in the Imam Syafi'i Mosque environment in Sampit, with a sample of 41 valid respondents determined through probability sampling (simple random sampling). Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire, then analyzed with descriptive statistics and simple linear regression using SPSS. The results showed that the level of adolescent participation in majelis taklim activities was in the high category (M = 41.58; SD = 7.06), while adolescent religious literacy was in the good to very good category (M = 79.54; SD = 13.39). Regression tests show that majelis taklim activities have a positive and significant effect on adolescent religious literacy (β = 1.833; p < 0.05) with a coefficient of determination R² = 0.935, meaning that 93.5% of the variation in religious literacy can be explained by majelis taklim activities. This finding confirms that majelis taklim plays a role not only as a forum for religious study, but also as an effective educational space in transmitting knowledge and strengthening the internalization of adolescent religious values.

Abstract

The formation of religious attitudes in elementary school ged children is a foundational aspect of personality development, cultivated through the habituation of regular worship practices within the school environment. This study aims to analyse the effect and the magnitude of the contribution of congregational prayer habits to the religious attitudes of students at SD Muhammadiyah 29 Surabaya. The research employed a quantitative associative causal approach with a population of 50 fifth  and sixth-grade students. Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and subsequently analysed using simple linear regression through SPSS version 26. The results indicate that congregational prayer habits have a positive and significant effect on students’ religious attitudes, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.639 shows that congregational prayer habits contribute 63.9% to students’ religious attitudes, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. These findings confirm that the consistent implementation of congregational prayer within the school environment is an effective strategy for fostering and strengthening the religious attitudes of elementary school students

Abstract

This study examines QS Al-‘Alaq (1–5) and QS Luqmān (12–19) to formulate the objectives of Islamic education, reinforced by the perspectives of al-Ghazālī, Ibn Sīnā, Ibn Khaldūn, and Ibn Miskawaih. Using library research and thematic analysis of Qur’anic verses, classical works, and recent studies, it identifies epistemological and axiological foundations of Islamic education. QS Al-‘Alaq establishes an epistemological basis through the command iqra’, affirming Allah as the ultimate source of knowledge and encouraging intellectual and literacy development. QS Luqmān provides an axiological framework emphasizing wisdom, moral character, social responsibility, and ethical guidance. Classical scholars further strengthen this integration: al-Ghazālī stresses purification of the soul and unity of knowledge and action; Ibn Sīnā highlights holistic human development; Ibn Khaldūn underscores social formation; and Ibn Miskawaih focuses on moral training. The study concludes that Islamic education must adopt an integrative approach uniting spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social dimensions to form faithful, knowledgeable, and virtuous individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the moral education values contained in Surah An-Nur verses 27-31 and their relevance within the context of contemporary Islamic education. The research adopts a qualitative approach through a library research design. The primary data sources consist of the Qur’an, specifically Surah An-Nur verses 27-31, as well as Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir and Tafsir Al-Misbah, while secondary data are obtained from Islamic education literature and related studies. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analysed using descriptive-analytical and comparative methods by examining the similarities and differences in the interpretations of the two exegetes. The findings indicate that Surah An-Nur verses 27-31 contain moral education values, including visiting etiquette, respect for privacy, control of the gaze (ghadd al-bashar), and the preservation of personal dignity (hifzh al-farj). The exegetical analysis shows that Ibn Kathir emphasises normative aspects and adherence to Islamic law, whereas Tafsir Al-Misbah presents a contextual and persuasive approach. The integration of these two perspectives affirms that Qur’anic moral education is comprehensive, dynamic, and relevant for character formation in the modern era.

Abstract

Islamic education curriculum reform has become a strategic global issue in response to the need for an educational system that is adaptive to globalisation, digitalisation, and the plurality of values. This study aims to map global trends in Islamic education curriculum reform through a bibliometric approach and scientific network visualisation based on Scopus and Web of Science data (2019–2024), using the PRISMA 2020 framework. The results show a significant increase in publications (an average of 8.84% per year), dominated by Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia. Thematic analysis reveals four main clusters: Islamic education curriculum education (a foundational theme), religion–Islam–culture (a motor theme), human–teaching (a humanistic pedagogical foundation), and humans–questionnaire–Saudi Arabia (a cross-cultural empirical theme). Theoretically, these findings confirm a paradigm shift towards Integrative Curriculum Theory, which integrates spiritual values (maqaṣid al-shari‘ah), 21st-century competencies, and digital innovation. This research also reinforces the relevance of Critical Islamic Pedagogy and Digital Islamic Pedagogy in developing value-based, technology-enhanced, and human-centred curricula. These findings provide a scientific basis for adaptive, evidence-based Islamic education policy and contribute to SDG 4 on Quality Education, as well as to the development of globally competitive human resources with strong character.

Abstract

This study presents a global bibliometric analysis of Islamic Educational Thought, aimed at mapping the intellectual landscape and exploring trends, contributions, and potential future directions of research in the field. Based on data from Scopus, this study examines the growth in the number of publications related to Islamic education from 2015 to 2025, with particular emphasis on research in Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia. The research reveals a significant increase in publications, with a focus on digital education innovations, such as augmented reality, game-based learning, and social practice pedagogy, indicating a shift from traditional, normative approaches towards technology-driven, character-based educational models. This analysis also highlights the growing global importance of Islamic education in addressing key issues like anti-corruption education, Islamic character development, and madrasah management, linking these to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 and SDG 16).Through the use of bibliometric methods, including co-citation and network analysis, the study identifies the intellectual structure of the field, revealing an interdisciplinary shift involving the integration of biomedical, social, and psychological research. This dynamic evolution reflects the growing interconnectedness of various fields, suggesting that future research will increasingly focus on bio-socio-digital interconnectivity, where human development is viewed through the simultaneous interaction of biological, social, and digital factors. The study also emphasizes the need for a more integrated, systems-based approach in Islamic education, proposing a shift toward the adoption of a bio-psycho-social-epigenetic model in research. Ultimately, this paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of global research in Islamic education and sets the stage for future studies that focus on interdisciplinary, digitally-informed approaches to education.
