Abstract

This article examines the effect of implementing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) academic supervision on the performance of PAI teachers in junior high schools (SMP). This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method in two junior high schools in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan Province. The research data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model. The results showed that PAI academic supervision in junior high schools is still not optimal because various factors, such as competence, motivation, work environment, and facilities, influence it. However, PAI academic supervision also positively impacts the performance of PAI teachers in junior high schools, such as improving the quality of learning, developing student potential, and job satisfaction. This article provides recommendations for PAI supervisors, principals, PAI teachers, and other relevant parties in improving PAI academic supervision in junior high schools, as well as a reference for future research related to the same or similar topics.

Abstract

The low level of teacher skills in creating independent curriculum teaching modules based on differentiated learning in Indonesia as well as in North Dempo District means that the quality of learning is not yet optimal. The community service carried out in Pagar Alam City is a form of effort to increase teacher professionalism in creating independent curriculum teaching modules. The aim of implementing community service is to increase teachers' understanding and skills in creating independent curriculum teaching modules based on differentiated learning. The methods used in implementing community service are socialization, training, practice, mentoring, and evaluation. This training material was carried out in two stages, where the first stage focused more on providing information about material related to teaching modules, differentiated learning, and differentiated learning-based teaching modules. The second stage of training focused on creating independent curriculum teaching modules. Community service program training participants were very satisfied with the training in creating independent curriculum teaching modules based on differentiated learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi tren penelitian PISA Sains di Indonesia dan implikasi bagi Pembelajaran khususnya pembelajaran Sains. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan pendekatan analisis isi dengan teknik systematic literature review (SLR). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mendokumentasikan seluruh artikel yang memiliki penelitian terkait dengan PISA. Artikel yang diperoleh dan digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 17 artikel yang dipublikasi pada periode 2019-2024 kemudian dijadikan acuan untuk dikaji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan literasi sains dan matematika siswa Indonesia umumnya masih berada pada level rendah, dengan tren penelitian yang lebih banyak berfokus pada literasi matematika dan dilakukan di wilayah perkotaan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya penguatan literasi Sains juga bukan hanya literasi matematika. Pada pembelajaran hendaknya dihubungkan dengan pemahaman tentang PISA dan dikoneksikan dengan soal-soal PISA. Literasi PISA Sains ini bukan hanya digalakan pada sekolah-sekolah perkotaan namun perlu digalakan juga di sekolah-sekolah pedesaan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the process of applying physics learning based on problem based learning at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh. The method in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from observations and interviews with physics subject teachers and documentation. In analyzing this research, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion were drawn. The result of this research is the physics learning process still uses conventional learning models by way of lecturing to students but there is an approach that uses other learning models but not completely. learning with problem based learning models, the implementation of the independent curriculum has been implemented, but the PBL model has not been fully implemented due to the curriculum transfer process. PBL is in accordance with collaborative learning in solving existing problems in accordance with physics learning. The application of problem-based learning models in physics learning is only part of the teachers who apply it to achieve better learning such as physics learning which studies natural phenomena, as well as the surrounding environment so that it is feasible to be implemented in learning. process. learning. The problem-based learning process is based on the application of Pancasila profile learning by producing projects that start from solving problems related to the environment.

Abstract

Machine Learning is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI) that helps computers or teaching machines learn from all previous data and make intelligent decisions. Machine learning frameworks require capturing and maintaining a rich set of information and turning it into a structured knowledge base for different uses in various fields, one of which is in education. The purpose of this article is to answer the questions 1) Why is Machine Learning Important for Education? and 2) How is Machine Learning Utilized for Education? This article uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques with literature study. Abstract

Creative thinking and critical thinking skills have an increasingly important role in dealing with complexity and rapid change in the modern era. This research aims to illustrate the importance of skills in the 21st century, as well as describe the challenges in developing them and methods for strengthening learning. The research method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach, data is collected from various library sources such as scientific journals, books and related research reports. This study confirms that creative thinking and critical thinking skills are an important foundation in a holistic learning process, preparing individuals to face challenges in the ever-changing world of work. Challenges in developing these skills include changes in teacher roles, integration of technology, development of appropriate curricula, and project-based learning. However, by applying the right learning methods and relevant tips, future generations can be well prepared to become successful leaders and innovators in the modern era. The results of this study provide deep insight into the importance of creative thinking and critical thinking skills in the 21st century, and show the need for a holistic and innovative learning approach to prepare individuals to face future challenges.

Abstract

This development research aims to produce Mobile Learning of Physics (Moblep) by applying Android-based Problem Based Learning Approach to Increase Student Learning Independence which is valid and practical. The development model used is the Rowntree model modified with Tessmer's formative evaluation method. The tessmer's formative evaluation stages in this study include self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, and small group. At the expert review stage, data were collected through interviews, expert tests, and questionnaires using nine material experts, nine design experts, and eleven language experts. The one-to-one stage and the small group stage were carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh. The results showed that the Mobile Learning of Physics (Moblep) with the Android-based Problem-Based Learning Approach that was developed, based on the results of the expert review, obtained a total percentage score of 94.73% from the validator and was included in the "very valid" category. Based on the results of the student response questionnaire at the one-to-one evaluation stage, the average percentage was 83.5%, and at the small group stage, the average percentage was 95.2%, so this Moblep was included in the "very practical" category.The implication of this research is that the results of this study can be applied as reference material and considered as additional references for further research.

Abstract

Sustainability awareness among students is crucial for fostering environmentally responsible behaviors, particularly concerning peatlands’ role in global warming. However, a valid and reliable measurement tool is needed to assess students’ awareness effectively. This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of a questionnaire designed to measure secondary school students’ sustainability awareness in this context. A descriptive survey design was employed, involving 40 participants eight expert validators and 32 students. Data were collected through expert validation and questionnaire distribution. Content validity was assessed by four content experts and four readability experts, while item validity and reliability were analyzed using the Rasch model. Results indicated a high content validity score (91%), confirming the questionnaire’s effectiveness in measuring students’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. The item validity test showed all statement items were valid, and reliability analysis yielded strong internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha: 0.84 for person reliability and 0.85 for item reliability). These findings suggest that the questionnaire is a reliable instrument for assessing sustainability awareness. The study contributes to environmental education by providing a scientifically validated tool for measuring students’ understanding of sustainability, which can inform future curriculum development and policy-making efforts to enhance environmental awareness among students.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approaches on enhancing critical thinking, creativity, and student engagement in science education among elementary school students in Palembang, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 120 fifth-grade students from two public elementary schools. The experimental group participated in a 6-week STEM-based science learning program, which included hands-on activities, project-based learning, and collaborative problem-solving tasks, while the control group followed the conventional science curriculum. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, creativity assessments using the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT), observation sheets, and student project evaluations. The results revealed significant improvements in critical thinking (M=85.6, SD=4.2) and creativity (M=82.4, SD=3.8) among students in the experimental group compared to the control group (critical thinking: M=72.3, SD=5.1; creativity: M=68.7, SD=4.5), with p-values of 0.001 and 0.002, respectively. Additionally, observational data indicated higher levels of student engagement, collaboration, and enthusiasm in the experimental group. These findings underscore the effectiveness of STEM-based learning in fostering higher-order thinking skills and innovation, while also highlighting the importance of contextualizing STEM education to local environments. However, challenges such as limited resources, inadequate teacher training, and rigid curricula were identified as barriers to implementation. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers and educators to invest in STEM infrastructure, provide professional development for teachers, and reform curricula to support the integration of STEM approaches in Indonesian elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to present the design and efficacy of an enhanced learning tool for digital platforms featuring interactive simulations to educate students about the complexities of global warming. This study utilized an experimental method involving 32 10th-grade high school students. The Python-assisted E-Learning Tool offers dynamic visualization and model interaction, allowing students to explore the causal relationship between human activities and climate change. By manipulating simulation parameters, students observed the impact of global temperature trends in real-time, which fostered a nuanced understanding of global warming. This allows them to observe the cause-and-effect relationship between human activities, greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental impact. Interactive simulations and applications enable students to experiment independently with physics concepts. Python underscores its suitability for education because of its extensive functionality and ease of use and because it encourages a hands-on and exploratory approach to learning complex STEM subjects such as global warming. This process is accompanied by structured instructional content, including data analysis, group discussion, and reflective assessment, to enhance cognitive engagement and promote ongoing practice. This study highlights the potential of integrating technology-based learning tools into the STEM curriculum to facilitate active exploration of global sustainability challenges.
