Abstract

Border infrastructure has an impact on trade and economic growth for communities living on the border. This method of investigation uses the study of literature by searching for references that fit the context of the research. The results of the research show that the improvement of the infrastructure in the border area has a significant positive impact on the volume of trade, with reduced logistics costs and improved efficiency of the flow of goods and services. Better infrastructure is strongly correlated with higher levels of foreign investment and closer regional economic integration. Further analysis shows that increased access to education, health care, and public services, catalysed by infrastructure investment, significantly contributes to economic and social development in the border areas. The research also found that strong border infrastructure increases economic resilience to external disturbances and drives long-term growth through economic diversification and innovation.

Abstract

The economic dependence of Indonesian border communities on Malaysian products is a phenomenon influenced by various structural factors and policies. This study aims to identify the main contributing factors, such as geographical proximity, infrastructure limitations, differences in product prices and quality, as well as weak local economic development and Indonesian government intervention. This dependence has significant impacts on the socio-economic life of border communities, including reduced competitiveness of domestic products, changes in consumption patterns, increased social and economic vulnerability, and weakened national integration. The literature review indicates that efforts to strengthen the local economy, improve infrastructure, and implement cross-border policies that prioritise border communities are essential to reduce this dependence and reinforce Indonesia's position in this strategic region.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on economic resilience and the global labour market, forcing structural changes affecting various sectors. This article analyses the dynamics of post-pandemic economic resilience as well as structural transformations in the labour market through a human resource management perspective. Research shows that digitalisation, automation and flexible working are becoming dominant trends in the labour market, shifting conventional skill requirements towards more technology and data-driven ones. In the context of economic recovery, companies need to develop responsive HR management strategies, such as reskilling, upskilling and supporting employee welfare. This approach aims to ensure operational sustainability and improve organisational competitiveness in the face of future challenges. This article concludes that the role of flexible and innovative HR is very influential in responding to post-pandemic change demands.

Abstract

The ‘Desa Maju, UMKM Berkembang’ programme is a community service initiative that aims to improve local economic growth through the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in villages. In the context of sustainable economic development, MSMEs play a vital role as drivers of the grassroots economy. However, MSMEs in rural areas often face various challenges, including limited access to capital, markets, technology, and modern management knowledge. Thus, the ‘Desa Maju, MSMEs Berkembang’ programme has demonstrated the effectiveness of a holistic approach in the development of rural MSMEs. The programme has not only succeeded in improving the economic capacity of individuals and groups, but has also contributed to strengthening the overall economic structure of the village.
