Abstract

This study analyzes the readiness of Sumedang Regency in organizing international sport tourism events such as Tour de Singkarak. Sumedang has supporting geographical and cultural potential, but it needs in-depth studies related to infrastructure, government support, and community and private sector participation. The methods used are literature studies and in-depth interviews with the Head of Disparbudpora and the local community. The results of the study show that Sumedang has potential routes for cycling in the Jatigede, Kampung Toga, and Gunung Tampomas areas. However, supporting infrastructure such as roads, public facilities, and accommodation still need to be improved. This event has the potential to improve the local economy through the culinary and accommodation sectors, but sponsorship support still needs to be strengthened. The community welcomed this event, with the hope of improving facilities and training. Environmental sustainability is also a major concern, especially in waste management. In conclusion, Sumedang has great potential as a host for sports tourism events, but requires infrastructure improvements, promotional strategies, and further collaboration between the government, community, and private sector in order to optimize the potential for sports tourism and improve the regional economy.

Abstract

This study investigates the enhancement of self-efficacy among non-music specialist primary school teachers in Indonesia through a targeted training program. Many primary educators, particularly those without formal music training, often lack confidence in their musical abilities, which limits their willingness to teach music. Using an action research design, the program was implemented in three stages—pre-action, action, and post-action—aimed at improving teachers’ competence and confidence in music instruction. Twenty-eight teachers from Sumedang Regency, West Java, participated, representing diverse demographics in certification status, age, employment type, teaching grade level, and years of experience. The training included workshops, collaborative reflections, teaching simulations, and practical sessions on integrating music into classroom activities. Quantitative data from pre- and post-tests, along with qualitative observation notes, revealed significant gains in all self-efficacy dimensions, with the overall mean score increasing from 3.3 to 4.3 (p 0.001) and a very large effect size (d = 2.5). Notable improvements were observed in developing higher-order thinking skills, assessing students’ understanding of music, and fostering the value of music learning. The findings underscore the importance of sustained, practice-based professional development to build teacher confidence, promote innovative pedagogy, and integrate music meaningfully into primary curricula. This research highlights the necessity of equipping non-specialist teachers with pedagogical strategies and personal empowerment to strengthen music education frameworks and improve student learning experiences in primary schools.

Abstract

One of the obstacles to teaching physical education in the 21st century is the necessity for teachers to integrate technology-based learning. The TPACK framework plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of instruction in physical education. This study aims to map the TPACK competencies of physical education teachers. A cross-sectional survey design with a quantitative approach was employed, utilizing convenience sampling techniques. The research participants consisted of 14 physical education teachers from North Sumedang in Sumedang Regency. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through the SPSS 20 program. The results indicated that the understanding of the Content Knowledge component was 78.57, categorized as sufficient; Pedagogical Knowledge was 83.48, classified as excellent; Technological Knowledge was 73.21, also sufficient; Pedagogical Content Knowledge was 79.64, appropriate; Technological Content Knowledge was 73.21, sufficient; Technological Pedagogical Knowledge was 74.55, appropriate; and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge was 79.17, also appropriate. The application of TPACK in the learning process showed that 78% of teachers have mastered it; similarly, 78% of teachers demonstrated mastery in implementing learning, while 77% of teachers showed proficiency in evaluating learning. Thus, physical education teachers in the North Sumedang sub-district effectively integrate technology, pedagogy, and content in their physical education instruction. This finding underscores the importance of ongoing support and training to enhance teachers' TPACK competencies, ensuring effective technology integration in physical education.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education in elementary schools not only serves as the teaching of religious material but also as a means to instill discipline and character in students. This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping student discipline at the Elementary School in South Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency. The method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The results indicate that Islamic Religious Education plays a significant role in instilling discipline values through the habituation of worship practices, such as congregational prayers, exemplary behavior by teachers, and constructive advice. Collaboration between the school and parents also proves to strengthen the formation of student discipline, creating consistency between learning at school and at home. Other supporting factors include good cooperation between teachers and parents, as well as a supportive school environment. This research concludes that the integration of religious education at school and parental support at home is crucial in shaping students' disciplined character, which in turn can enhance the quality of education at the elementary level. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of character development in discipline through Islamic Religious Education, as well as the collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents to ensure the sustainability of student discipline formation in schools. These findings provide a better understanding of the development of more effective strategies or methods for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and highlight external collaboration in the sustainable formation of student discipline.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of cryptocurrency as a digital asset has sparked extensive discourse within Islamic legal scholarship, particularly concerning its permissibility under Sharia law. This issue remains contentious due to the absence of authoritative legal fatwas from recognized institutions such as the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), compounded by concerns over gharar (excessive uncertainty), maysir (speculation), and riba (usury) inherent in cryptocurrency transactions. This study investigates the perceptions of both Islamic scholars and the local Muslim community in Sumedang, Indonesia, regarding the Sharia compliance of cryptocurrency. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The findings revealed a divergence of opinion: a majority of respondents viewed cryptocurrency as speculative and incompatible with Sharia principles, while a minority expressed conditional support, emphasizing the potential for permissibility with stringent regulatory oversight. The analysis further identified a pervasive lack of Islamic economic literacy and regulatory clarity, which exacerbates uncertainty and influences public skepticism. Younger participants, despite showing strong interest in crypto assets due to profitability and accessibility, demonstrated limited understanding of Islamic financial jurisprudence. These findings highlight the critical need for formalized guidance through fatwas, alongside robust Islamic financial education initiatives. A nuanced, Sharia-compliant framework—developed in collaboration with knowledgeable scholars—could offer pathways for integrating cryptocurrencies into the Islamic economic system in a manner that upholds doctrinal integrity.

Abstract

This study compares conventional and Sharia-compliant hotels in Sumedang Regency, with a focus on the application of Islamic values within the hospitality sector. The research aims to analyze how the integration of Sharia principles influences hotel operations and customer satisfaction. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews and observations at selected hotels. Sharia-compliant hotels adhere to Islamic guidelines by providing halal food, designated prayer facilities, gender-segregated amenities, and marriage verification at check-in. These practices foster trust and enhance satisfaction among Muslim guests. In contrast, conventional hotels emphasize general guest comfort without prioritizing religious considerations and often encounter difficulties in consistently applying Islamic values. The findings indicate that aligning hospitality services with Sharia principles not only enhances competitiveness but also strengthens customer loyalty. This alignment supports the moral and spiritual well-being of Muslim travelers and contributes to the advancement of halal tourism. The study underscores the potential of Sharia-compliant hospitality to offer culturally and religiously sensitive services that meet the growing demands of the Muslim travel market.
