Abstract

This research is important to uncover how cultural commodities are used as instruments of legitimacy in colonial identity-building projects. The purpose of this research is to analyse the existence of Sidemen Songket Weaving in the context of Balinese cultural politics during the Baliseering era in the early 20th century. Through the imagination of Western Orientalism, the Dutch Colonial Government attempted to construct Bali as a pure cultural entity by protecting it from the influence of missions and Islamic preaching. This research uses historical methods that include heuristic stages (observation, literature studies, and oral traditions), verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results show that Sidemen Songket Weaving functions as a tool of colonial political representation to strengthen social stratification, class, and caste. Songket Weaving is transformed into a symbol of strength, wealth, and power, where ownership automatically attaches privileges. These findings indicate that the Dutch cultural preservation policy is not neutral but rather has political motives to control society's social structure. In conclusion, Balinese cultural politics has shifted the intrinsic function of Sidemen Songket Weaving into an instrument of identity politics that perpetuates feudalism under colonial control. This finding confirms that cultural objects are often engineered to maintain hierarchies for the sake of power stability.

Abstract

Butterflies are important bioindicators and pollinators whose presence is strongly associated with the availability of food plants and habitat conditions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between food plant diversity and butterfly diversity in Taman Wisata Alam Kerandangan, West Lombok. The research was conducted in three observation blocks, namely utilization, protection, and rehabilitation, using a survey method along transects. Data were collected on the diversity and abundance of food plants and butterflies, and analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed that food plants consisted of 1,298 individuals belonging to 27 species and 16 families, with an H’ value of 2.591; the dominant family was Rubiaceae, and the most abundant species was Clerodendrum paniculatum. Butterflies were recorded at 687 individuals, comprising 35 species and 3 families, with an H’ value of 3.183; the dominant family was Nymphalidae, and the most abundant species was Catopsilia pamona. The correlation analysis showed a very weak but positive relationship between food plant diversity and butterfly diversity (r = 0.028), while the relationship between food plant abundance and butterfly abundance was positive and very strong (r = 0.972). These findings indicate that butterfly occurrence in the study area is more strongly influenced by food plant abundance than by food plant diversity.

Abstract

Dragonflies (Odonata) are bioindicators of environmental quality that are sensitive to changes in habitat conditions. This research aimed to analyze the dragonfly species found in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park, analyze their distribution patterns, and determine their diversity level. The research was conducted in three observation blocks, namely utilization, rehabilitation, and protection blocks. Sampling in this study was conducted using the line transect method with direct field observation. Distribution patterns were analyzed using the dispersion index, while diversity was measured using the Shannon–Wiener index (H’). The results showed that 18 dragonfly species belonging to 8 families were identified. The distribution patterns of dragonflies, both overall and within each block, tended to be clumped. The dragonfly diversity index (H’) in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park was 2.12, indicating that the ecosystem is relatively stable. In addition, damselflies (Zygoptera) were only found in the utilization block, which has water sources, and were absent in the rehabilitation and protection blocks. This finding suggests that abiotic and biotic environmental factors influence the presence and distribution of dragonflies in the study area. This research is expected to contribute scientific information to support enviromental management and conservation efforts in the Kerandangan Nature Tourism Park.

Abstract

The Borg & Gall Research and Development (R&D) model is a methodological framework widely applied in science learning development because it focuses on solving learning problems through empirical data-based evaluation and revision. This study aims to describe and analyze trends in the application of the Borg & Gall model in science learning development, including variations and modifications in stages, evaluation strategies, development outcomes, and challenges reported in previous research. The method used was a literature review using the SPIDER (Sample, Phenomenon of Interest, Design, Evaluation, Research type) approach. A systematic literature search was conducted through Google Scholar, ERIC, and ScienceDirect databases. The results indicate that most studies do not fully implement the Borg & Gall stages, but instead simplify or integrate them with other instructional design models to accommodate the learning context, time constraints, and resource constraints. The dominant evaluation strategies include expert validation, phased field trials, and measuring effectiveness through pre-test and post-test designs. In general, the developed science learning products were declared valid, practical, and effective, although they still face challenges in terms of time, cost, technical competence, and generalizability of the results
