Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Human Development Index (HDI), per capita income, and zakat funds on economic growth in Mandailing Natal Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with secondary time-series data for 2014–2025 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, including classical assumption tests, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results show that the HDI has a negative and significant effect on economic growth, while per capita income has no significant effect. Zakat funds also have a negative and significant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, HDI, per capita income, and zakat funds significantly affect economic growth. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.430 indicates that 43% of the variation in economic growth is explained by the three independent variables, while 57% is explained by other factors outside the model. These findings suggest the need to improve human resource quality, expand productive employment opportunities, and optimize productive zakat management to support sustainable economic growth in Mandailing Natal Regency.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of infrastructure development and the entrepreneurial environment on the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan City, with a focus on integrating Islamic economic principles. Using a quantitative correlational design, the research examines the causal relationships between infrastructure (X1), the entrepreneurial environment (X2), and MSME growth (Y). Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 100 MSME owners, and analyzed using multiple linear regression. Findings indicate that both infrastructure and the entrepreneurial environment significantly influence MSME growth; however, the entrepreneurial environment emerged as a more dominant factor, with a significant positive effect. Infrastructure development showed a positive but statistically insignificant impact on MSME growth. The study suggests that while physical infrastructure plays a role, a supportive and ethical entrepreneurial environment, grounded in Islamic principles such as justice, fairness, and sustainability, is crucial for fostering sustainable MSME growth. This study also emphasizes the importance of integrating Islamic economic values to create a competitive and equitable business ecosystem in Medan, aligning with the objectives of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah.

Abstract

This research examines how soybean raw material inventory is control at Kotin Tempe Home Industry by implementing the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) approach to prevent excessive stockpiling and enhance cost effectiveness. Employing a quantitative descriptive methodology that includes observation and interviews, findings reveal that the current inventory management lacks proper structure, with 48 annual orders made without maintaining safety reserves or establishing reorder thresholds. When the EOQ approach is applied, optimal procurement amounts to 350 kg ordered 14 times annually, with safety reserves of 62 kg (2023) and 45 kg (2024), and reorder thresholds set at 89 kg and 72 kg respectively. This approach achieves a 65% reduction in inventory expenses, equivalent to Rp1,300,000 annually, demonstrating how EOQ effectively lowers costs and reduces overstock risks. This study is expected to be able to help this business determine the most appropriate amount of soybean raw material orders to achieve optimal profits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of community participation in Islamic insurance (takaful) in Padang Lawas Utara Regency. The factors examined include Islamic financial literacy, trust, socioeconomic conditions, access to information and socialization, education level, and geographical conditions. This study employed a quantitative approach involving 32 questionnaire indicators. The sample consisted of 160 respondents, determined using a ratio of five respondents for each indicator (32 × 5), which is considered adequate for multivariate analysis. Data were collected through likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results indicate that all independent variables have a positive and significant effect on community participation, both partially and simultaneously. Geographical conditions are the most dominant variable, with Beta = 0.275 and t = 4.517. Simultaneously, the six variables explain 76.7% of the variation in community participation (R² = 0.767; F = 84.007; Sig. 0.000). This study recommends improving islamic financial literacy, expanding digital-based services, and strengthening infrastructure in remote areas to increase community participation in Islamic insurance in padang lawas utara regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the financial resilience and financial performance of PT KAI (Persero) during the 2020–2024 period using Economic Value Added (EVA) and Financial Value Added (FVA) as measurement tools to assess the company's economic and financial value creation. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data obtained from the annual reports and financial statements of PT KAI (Persero) for the 2020–2024 period. The data were analyzed through EVA and FVA calculations to evaluate the company's ability to generate added value while considering the cost of capital and the effectiveness of asset utilization. The results indicate that PT KAI (Persero) experienced a substantial increase in total assets from IDR 53.21 trillion in 2020 to IDR 97.10 trillion in 2024, accompanied by revenue growth during the post-pandemic recovery period, reflecting improvements in financial conditions and operational capacity. These findings support previous studies suggesting that value-based performance measurement provides a more comprehensive assessment than conventional financial analysis because it incorporates the cost of capital and the ability of assets to create economic value. It can be concluded that EVA and FVA are relevant methods for assessing financial resilience and financial performance. Therefore, the company should continuously improve the efficiency of capital and asset utilization, while future studies are encouraged to integrate EVA and FVA with other financial resilience indicators to obtain a more comprehensive evaluation.

Abstract

Background: The agricultural sector, particularly in rural areas like Pakarhumbada in North Sumatra, plays a crucial role in Indonesia's economy. However, despite its potential, the sector faces significant challenges, including low farmer welfare, weak infrastructure, and limited access to modern agricultural practices. This research aims to analyze the development model of agribusiness in Pakarhumbada based on Islamic economics, specifically integrating the principles of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah to improve farmer welfare. Method: The study employs a qualitative approach combined with path analysis to explore the impact of production inputs, agricultural practices, market systems, and supporting factors on both the implementation of Islamic economics and the welfare of farmers. Results: The novelty of this research lies in the application of Islamic economic principles, including musyarakah, mudharabah, and wakaf within an agribusiness context, addressing the structural challenges that have hindered optimal agricultural growth. The study's findings indicate that enhancing the agricultural sector's value chain, improving farmer access to finance, and incorporating local Islamic economic practices can significantly improve economic stability for farmers. The future impact of these findings could reshape agribusiness practices in rural Indonesia, creating a more inclusive and sustainable economic environment for smallholder farmers Conclusion: The implications of this research suggest that for the agribusiness sector to thrive in regions like Pakarhumbada, policies must incorporate a more holistic approach that integrates Islamic economic practices, strengthens local institutions, and provides equitable access to resources. This framework could serve as a model for other agrarian regions in Indonesia, enhancing both economic and social welfare

Abstract

Background: This study investigates the influence of cognitive and emotional biases on investment decisions in the Indonesian Sharia stock market. Method: Using a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory strategy, quantitative data were analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), followed by qualitative insights through interviews, observations, and documentation. Results: The findings reveal that emotional bias indirectly affects investment decisions through investor behavior, while cognitive bias also shows a significant influence. Investor behavior plays a crucial mediating role, reflecting how biases are translated into real investment actions. Sharia-based investors tend to be more cautious and guided by religious values, which function as a filter in decision-making, yet they remain vulnerable to emotional factors such as overreaction and herd behavior. Institutional investors appear more systematic in managing biases compared to individual investors, who are more easily influenced by emotions. The study highlights the importance of behavioral factors in shaping investment decisions in Sharia markets, suggesting that financial literacy, investor education, and long-term strategies are essential to minimize the negative effects of cognitive and emotional biases. Conclusion: These findings contribute to understanding investor psychology in Islamic finance and provide insights for regulators and practitioners to strengthen market stability.
