Abstract

This article explores three main perspectives in Islamic educational philosophy: conservative, liberal, and democratic, by revealing how each of these views interprets the values and goals of education. The conservative approach to Islamic education, represented by the essentialist and perennialist schools of thought, emphasizes the preservation and protection of existing traditions and customs. The concept of conservative education is more static and less open to new views or ideas. In contrast, liberal education, influenced by classical and modern liberalism, places more importance on the individual and freedom of thought, and seeks to adapt to global economic and social changes by prioritizing rational approaches and open discussion in the teaching and learning process. This model has undergone significant evolution along with historical and ideological dynamics. Meanwhile, democratic education, in the context of Islam, focuses on providing fair and humanizing educational services to each individual, by paying special attention to the development of each child's potential according to their abilities. This concept also supports academic freedom and prioritizes equal rights in obtaining education without discrimination. This study uses a literature review method to analyze these conceptions based on sources such as books, articles, and the thoughts of Islamic educational figures, both classical and modern.

The research utilizes a research and development (R&D) approach, employing the 4D model by Thiagarajan and Semmel, which includes defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The study involved three key stages: defining the needs and objectives, designing the module, and developing it, followed by validation by experts and piloting with students. The findings indicated that the module achieved high validity, with a mean score of 4.916, and proved effective in enhancing learning outcomes, demonstrated by a learning completeness rate of 94.11% and a positive response from students, which was 97.64%. The implications of this study suggest that careful analysis and rigorous validation are crucial during the module development process to ensure the production of high-quality educational materials. This approach not only validates the content but also ensures the effectiveness and receptiveness of the educational tools among students, thereby enhancing their learning experiences and outcomes.

Abstract

The concept of learners in education is often understood normatively and psychologically, without placing it within a complete philosophical framework. In fact, educational philosophy plays an important role in defining the essence of learners, their relationship with educators, and their purpose in the education system. This study aims to examine two main issues: how the essence of learners is understood from the perspective of educational philosophy, and how this viewpoint impacts the relationship between learners and the educational process. The type of research in this article is qualitative research with an educational philosophy approach. Data sources are obtained from literature studies on the works of classical to contemporary educational philosophy figures. Data collection techniques use documentation, while analysis is conducted through content analysis and philosophical interpretation. The results of the study indicate that learners in educational philosophy are viewed not merely as objects of learning, but rather as active, autonomous subjects who develop through interaction with values and life experiences. In addition, the philosophical perspective encourages the need to transform the relationship between educators and learners from an instructional relationship to a dialogical and humanistic one. The implications of these findings emphasize the need for a reorientation of the curriculum and educational approaches that are more student-centered as thinking and meaningful beings.
