Abstract

Overall, this study aims to assess college students' field-dependent metacognitive skills in mathematics problem-solving. We administered the Group Embedded Figures and Mathematical Ability Tests to 35 future educators from a private school in Sukoharjo, Indonesia. Students' questioning of each group served to gauge their proficiency in solving problems, as shown in the results. Participants also demonstrated partially achieved metacognitive abilities, as measured by the (metacognitive) skills criterion, which encompassed tasks such as planning, monitoring, assessing, and predicting. First, the participants documented and explained the facts given in the question. Second, they checked the results against the plan. Third, they evaluated the success of the objectives by analyzing the results to make sure everything went according to plan. Finally, they predicted and stated the results of the problem-solving process. In light of these findings, researchers and teachers facing comparable obstacles would do well to delve deeper into the function of metacognitive abilities in problem-solving.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of developing and producing high-quality, realistic mathematics learning devices using the REACT strategy at the junior high school level and their effectiveness in training students' mathematical connection skills. This type of research is known as development research. The learning devices developed in this study are the Mathematics Connection Ability Tests. We developed the test using the 4-D development model, which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects for the trial class were 35 students of class VIII-A, and the research subjects for the implementation class were 35 students of class VIII-B. This study used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the tests developed were of excellent quality because they met the criteria of valid, practical, and effective. In addition, realistic mathematics learning with the REACT strategy effectively trains students' mathematical connection skills. This is evident in the aspects of learning quality, the appropriateness of the learning level, the use of incentives, and the amount of time allocated, all of which align with the planning outlined in the learning implementation plan. Furthermore, realistic mathematics learning and the REACT strategy effectively enhance students' mathematical connection skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was determined the correlation among students' reading habits, intrapersonal intelligence, and reading comprehension levels. There was two different types of instruments, namely questionnaires and reading comprehension tests where students' score results identified the correlation between students' reading habits, intrapersonal intelligence, and their reading comprehension levels that focused on inferential level. Quantitative research with a correlation design in this study. The sample of this study was showed to 30 students of the 12th - grade Language Class at Man 1 Bone from the language department who had English language skills was powerfull where the influence of reading habits and intrapersonal intelligence was related to their reading comprehension levels. All of the data in this study measured with SPSS 29 version for windows. In this study, researcher used Pearson Correlation Product Moment to determine the value of both variables. Researcher found that the R value of the correlation between students' reading habits and reading comprehension levels was 0.369 and a significance of 0.045, which means that the variables are interrelated with a moderate correlation level. In addition, the R value of the correlation between intrapersonal intelligence and reading comprehension level is 0.374 and the significance is 0.042, which means that the variables are interrelated with a moderate level of correlation. Then, researcher used Multiple Linear Regression to determine the correlation among students' reading habits, intrapersonal intelligence and reading comprehension levels. The results of the regression analysis of the R value are 0.555 and significance 0.007 which means that the variables are interrelated with a moderate and significant correlation level. Students' reading habits and intrapersonal intelligence are positively correlated with reading comprehension levels, meaning that the more students was accustomed to reading followed by intrapersonal intelligence, the more they are able to concieve the contents of reading.

Abstract

The goal of this community service is to apply the Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) technique in writing scientific articles to improve the writing skills of students in the English Education Study Program. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was used in this study, which was divided into two cycles. Thirty students who took the Introduction to Thesis Writing course were used as research subjects. Direct measurement and observation are used to acquire data. Tests and observation sheets are used as data collection instruments. Data triangulation was utilized as a data analysis tool. The findings revealed that: (1) the TBLT method has been shown to increase student learning activities, interaction in learning, and student independence; (2) the average ability of students in writing scientific papers has increased from 5.21 in the first cycle to 7.1 in the second cycle; and (3) the teaching and learning process of writing scientific papers has become more meaningful, interesting, and fun.

Abstract

Basic English language learning in the community is one of the community service initiatives that try to provide English language learning. This project was overseen by As'Adiyah Sengkang, an English lecturer at FTK IAI. One of the activities carried out during the program was the presentation of basic English material using the lecture method. The lecture method has various advantages, including allowing lecturers to convey material in a more appealing manner, such as by utilizing personal pronouns, greetings, and introductions. Based on the results of this training, it is a new reference for other teachers to use in every program of formal, informal, and non-formal educational institutions. Furthermore, because this strategy is recognized as a simple method of teaching, young people can do peer tutoring with youth who have not yet had the opportunity to participate in the program. The establishment of community cooperation for the learning of advanced and basic English is another result of implementation.

Abstract

The teaching and learning process at all levels of education must continue in the period of the COVID-19 epidemic that is currently sweeping the globe. Both offline and online, a variety of learning methods and tools are employed. Online learning is still limited, and rigorous health standards must be followed. In the meantime, online learning is a viable option. Many online media, such as Google Classroom, WA Group, Zoom, Cisco Webex, Google Duo, and others, can be used. This community service intends to assist teachers in improving their Moodle application skills. It is now the most feature-rich online (distance) learning program available. The teachers were very engaged in this activity throughout the activation process, from socialization to training, as indicated by the large number of invited participants who all showed up. Participants attended the training from beginning to end, actively participated in the training, and the Teacher submitted numerous questions and concerns. Participants used the Moodle application to learn English online after completing the training. Some teachers use their classroom time to create educational materials, online conversations, quizzes, and assignments, as well as to ask questions and motivate students.
