Abstract

This study aims to produce a technology-based innovation product in the form of an Arduino-based Waste ATM that can automatically receive and manage plastic bottle waste to help increase public awareness and participation in recycling waste management. The research method used is research and development or Research & Development (R&D) which adapts the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 (five) stages, namely 1.) Analyze; 2.) Design; 3.) Development; and 4.) Implementation; and 5.) Evaluation. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it was found that the Arduino-based waste ATM system has been successfully designed and tested as a solution in automatically managing plastic bottle waste. The implementation of this system uses a capacitive proximity sensor and an ultrasonic sensor that functions to detect the type of material and the volume or size of the waste. In its application, there are several obstacles that need to be considered, such as the setting of the capacitive proximity sensor in recognizing non-plastic waste which causes the system to sometimes be able to process it. Therefore, to improve the effectiveness of the system in supporting public awareness of waste recycling, further optimization is needed such as the integration of additional sensors or the development of more adaptive algorithms.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of students’ conceptual understanding on colloidal materials by applying the flipped classroom integrated with peer-instruction. The research method used is qualitative method. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 8 Depok in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 3 which amounted to 39 students. Research data were collected from observation sheets, reflective journals, researcher notes, conceptual understanding sheets, conceptual understanding test, and interviews. In this study, to analyze the categories of students’ conceptual understanding level used categories adapted from Abraham et al. (1992), namely understanding, lack of understanding, misconceptions, not understanding, and no response. Learning was conducted face-to-face used flipped classroom integrated peer-instruction. The flipped classroom integrated peer-instruction learning model consist of three stages, namely pre-class learning, in-class learning, and after-class learning. During in-class learning, students were given a ConcepTest. The percentage of ConcepTest results was 30% - 70% so that learning continued with group discussion. In all colloidal sub-materials, the majority of students were in the “understand” category with an average percentage of 60,17%. The conclusion of this study is that the flipped classroom learning model integrated with peer-instruction can help students develop students’ conceptual understanding of colloidal material. The integrated flipped classroom and peer instruction can be an alternative in learning activities to develop students’ conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the scholarly literature on the impact of social tech hubs on social innovation and local economic development. Using data from the Scopus database and analytical tools such as VOSviewer, the study explores co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrences, citation patterns, and thematic clusters. Results indicate that “social innovation” is the central concept in this domain, frequently associated with themes such as sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, and digital transformation. The field demonstrates a shift from earlier emphasis on open innovation and corporate responsibility to more recent interests in digital social innovation and sustainability goals. Leading contributors are concentrated in Europe, North America, and Australia, though there is growing representation from Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The findings highlight both the growing complexity and interdisciplinarity of the field, as well as its structural gaps—particularly in rural development, governance, and Global South collaboration. This study provides valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to understand the evolving role of social tech hubs in advancing inclusive and sustainable innovation ecosystems.

Abstract

Small islands possess considerable ecological and economic potential, particularly in the management of forest resources. However, unsustainable forest management practices frequently undermine the integrity and resilience of these ecosystems. Implementing zoning strategies, specifically through the establishment of utilization zones, presents a viable solution for promoting the sustainable use of forest resources. This study analyzes the vegetation structure within the utilization zone of Nusalaut Island, which is located at elevations ranging from 0 to 100 meters above sea level and is characterized by intensive activities such as forest resource exploitation and plantation development. The primary objectives of this research are to assess the Importance Value Index (IVI) and evaluate species diversity across different vegetation strata within the utilization zone. A combined transect and grid sampling method was employed, and data analysis utilized standard vegetation assessment techniques to calculate IVI and species diversity indices. The results reveal that the forest vegetation in the Nusalaut utilization zone comprises four growth stages: seedlings, saplings, poles, and mature trees, with species composition varying across strata and villages. The highest species richness was observed in the seedling stage (16 species in Ameth and Akoon), sapling stage (17 species in Abubu and Ameth), pole stage (18 species in Titawai), and tree stage (20 species in Akoon). The calculated IVI values varied significantly across growth stages, indicating a heterogeneous distribution of dominant species. Overall, species diversity within the utilization zone of Nusalaut Island is classified as moderate, reflecting a relatively balanced yet potentially vulnerable ecosystem that necessitates careful management to ensure the sustainability of its ecological functions.
