Abstract

The objectives of this research were to analyses the rice farming income and the rice marketing system in Karawang district. Primary data were collected in this research involved  34 paddy farmers in Karawang and 12 rice traders and secondary data that is relevant to the research were collected.  The analysis of rice farming was conducted for the first growing season of 2011. Most of rice farmers are the selfowner with an area of between 1 to 5 acres. The selling price of unhusked rice crop received by farmers ranged between Rp 2.200,00 to Rp 3.800,00 with an average of Rp 2.720,54. Value of R / C ratio is 1.50 based on total cost. The actors in rice marketing are paddy farmers, local rice mill, sub-district’s and Cipinang’s market wholesaler and retailer.   The biggest margin obtained by the local rice mill.  The biggest farmer’s share found at the market flows from farmer à sub-district wholesaler à Karawang retailer.  The biggest benefit cost ratio of marketing found at market flow from farmers à local rice mill à Cipinang wholesaler à Jabodetabek’s retailer.  The market structure at farmer level is nearly perfect, however at the other level (rice mill, wholesaler and retailer) the market structure is oligopoly and oligopsony.  The selling price of grain has a significant impact on farmers income, so the role of the Government is expected to overcome this, such as by optimizing the role of the “Lumbung Desa Modern” (LDM), which is the existence still not optimal yet.

Abstract

Efficiency can be used as a measurement for decision making. Technical efficiency is one of them. The objectives of the research are (1) to analyze farming techniques and input usage, (2) to measure the technical efficiency and (3) to identify factors affecting technical efficiency of maize farm in Gunung Malang, Tenjolaya, Bogor Regency. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach and Tobit Regression are used to analyze. The result shows that farmers in Gunung Malang are inefficient in the use of production inputs. Farmers need to decrease manure usage, TSP fertilizer, and outside labor for technical efficiency. Factors that are affecting the technical efficiency are formal education level, number of household member and farmer association membership.

Abstract

For winning the competition, every entrepreneurs have to compete on supply chain. Tani Sejahtera Farm (TSF) is a distributor which cooperates with farmers in distributing organic rice in its supply chain. TSF had problems in coordinating product, financial, and information flows along its supply chain. This research aimed to analyze the condition of organic rice supply chain and its performance. The amount of samples were 14 samples which were all members of organic rice supply chain. FSCN (Food Supply Chain Networking) Framework was used for analyzing the condition of organic rice supply chain. Asset management efficiency approach was used for analyzing its performance. Organic rice supply chain had a network form. From the six elements, the condition of organic rice supply chain had not been good, especially in supply chain management, business processes and its overall performance. Supply chain management had not been implemented well in this supply chain. Its transaction system made TSF difficult to turn its capital back. From its business process, the financial and information flow had not been fluent. Its cash asset management performance had not been well also because it was too long for TSF in collecting its capital.

Abstract

Sweet potato is one of carbohydrat source to support the diversification food program. However, its productivity is still low and decreasing. It is caused by inefficiency in cultivation technique. The purposes of this research are to analyze farming revenue and to analyze factors affecting business and technical efficiency of sweet potato farming. Sampling method was conducted by proportional random sampling and the number of sample used was 30 people. The methods are revenue cost ration (R/C), break event point (BEP) and frontier production function estimated by MLE with Cobb-Douglas production function. The result shows cash revenue to cost ratio of 1.69 and total revenue to cost ratio of 1.23 which confirm the notion of efficient and lucrative. Price BEP is 772.60 rupiahs per kg and unit BEP is 15291.80 kg per hectare. The farming price and production are more than BEP which show profitability. Frontier production function shows all variables are significant and positive except N fertilizer. The results show farming efficiency index of 0.52 to 0.99 averaged on 0.75. One third respondents have efficiency index below 0.70. The results shows positive and significant correlation of farming experience, side job and land ownership to technical efficiency. Farmer’ age, education, revenue of non-farming activities and farming training/counseling have negative and non significant correlation.

Abstract

Prima Fresh Mart (PFM) is one of retails in the form of specialty store in Indonesia, which provides a wide variety of chicken product. This study about analyze the relation between atributes and PFM’s service quality and the relation between service quality with PFM’s customer satisfaction and loyalty; and formulate the managerial implication to impove the PFM’s customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study utilized Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis to evaluate how significant and strong the relation between the existing  variables. The result shows that tangible dimension is the most important variable that has the largest impact on customer satisfaction and loyality.PFM store’s atmosfer (X15) is the most important atribut to have the attention since it has the highest loading factor in tangible dimension. This means, X15 has the largest impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Products variance (X12) has the lowest loading factor since customer feels the products variance that PFM offers do not have much variance as other store offers. This caused X12 has the lowest impact on the customer satisfaction and loyality. On the other side, reliability dimension has the lowest loading factor which means the dimension needs to improve the atribut performance in order to increase the customer satisfaction.
