Abstract

Spatial ability constitutes a critical cognitive skill that facilitates students' capacity to comprehend and manipulate spatial information. In recent years, the integration of technology—particularly interactive multimedia tools such as GeoGebra—has garnered increasing attention as a means to enhance spatial ability among elementary school students. This study presents a literature review examining the effectiveness of GeoGebra in fostering spatial abilities in elementary education between 2020 and 2024. A total of eleven peer-reviewed articles were identified using Harzing’s Publish or Perish software in conjunction with Google Scholar. Each study was systematically analyzed, and pertinent data were synthesized into a table summarizing the title, authorship, year of publication, and principal findings. The review indicates that, relative to conventional instructional methods, the use of GeoGebra significantly enhances students’ mathematical comprehension. Key trends identified include notable improvements in visualization, mental rotation, and spatial problem-solving abilities among students engaged in GeoGebra-based instruction. The findings underscore the potential of GeoGebra as an effective pedagogical tool for promoting spatial reasoning and conceptual understanding in elementary mathematics education. These insights carry important implications for curriculum development, suggesting that technology-enhanced learning environments can foster greater student engagement and a deeper grasp of geometric concepts.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to develop an augmented reality based ecosystem pop-up book for elementary science learning and to evaluate its validity and practicality as a hybrid instructional medium integrating physical pop-up structures with digital augmented reality visualization. Methodology: This study employed a Research and Development approach using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The augmented reality based media were developed using Unity 3D and Vuforia Software Development Kit (SDK) with marker-based tracking. The development process involved needs analysis, expert validation, revision, and practicality testing involving 139 fifth-grade students, five media experts, and five subject matter experts. Data were analyzed using percentage scores, mean scores, standard deviation, and Aiken’s V coefficients. Main Findings: The developed media achieved a validity score of 92.6% from media experts (M = 4.63; Aiken’s V = 0.89) and 92.2% from subject matter experts (M = 4.61; Aiken’s V = 0.90), both categorized as very valid. The practicality test obtained 95.67% (M = 4.78), categorized as very practical. The AR system also demonstrated stable technical performance with marker detection accuracy of 96.4%, tracking stability of 93.8%, response time of 428 ms, rendering performance of 29–32 fps, and an SUS score of 87.2. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces a hybrid instructional medium integrating three-dimensional pop-up book structures with augmented reality technology in ecosystem learning for elementary education, providing combined tactile and digital learning experiences through a marker-based augmented reality visualization system optimized for classroom use.

Abstract

Juvenile justice systems worldwide face persistent challenges in balancing accountability, rehabilitation, and the protection of children’s rights. Traditional punitive approaches often fail to address the underlying existential and psychosocial needs of adolescents, contributing to high recidivism rates and social marginalization. This paper proposes an Integrated Existential Education Model as a transformative framework for juvenile justice reform within the context of international human rights, with a case study conducted at the Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak Kelas I (LPKA) Kutoarjo, Central Java, Indonesia. Drawing on existential psychology, the model emphasizes self-awareness, personal responsibility, and meaning-making, empowering adolescents to reflect on their life choices and develop authentic identities. It integrates human rights education and restorative practices to foster empathy, respect for others, and adherence to legal and ethical norms. Methodologically, the study employs a qualitative approach, including interviews with adolescents, educators, and staff, as well as analysis of international child rights frameworks, to examine the feasibility and potential impact of the model. The findings suggest that implementing existential education within juvenile rehabilitation programs can enhance psychological resilience, reduce recidivism, and promote social reintegration while ensuring compliance with global human rights standards. This integrated approach offers a practical, rights-based strategy for policymakers and practitioners in Indonesia and beyond.

Abstract

Digital technology transformation, changing labor market demands, and the diversity of student characteristics require higher education institutions to continuously innovate their curricula and renew their learning design. Curriculum can no longer be understood merely as a list of courses, but as a structured learning experience that connects learning outcomes, graduate competencies, instructional strategies, assessment, and the needs of society and the labor market. This article aims to analyze the integration of curriculum innovation and adaptive learning design in promoting meaningful learning in higher education. This article employs a conceptual literature review approach by examining relevant publications from the last five years on competency-based curriculum, outcome-based education, adaptive learning, student-centered learning, blended learning, and artificial intelligence in higher education. The findings indicate that curriculum innovation should be directed toward learning flexibility, competency strengthening, alignment with labor market needs, and continuous evaluation. Meanwhile, adaptive learning design is needed to adjust learning strategies, media, activities, and assessment to the diverse needs of students. The integration of these two aspects can promote meaningful learning because students do not only understand concepts, but are also able to connect theory with real-life experiences, think critically, solve problems, and develop professional competencies. This article offers a conceptual framework suggesting that meaningful learning can be achieved through an integrated relationship among curriculum innovation, adaptive learning design, digital technology, and student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of LAPKIN administrative workload and principal leadership on the performance of PPPK junior high school teachers, both directly and indirectly through work motivation as a mediating variable. This research employed a quantitative approach involving 83 PPPK teachers from junior high schools in Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang, selected using total sampling. Data were collected through validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis, multiple regression, and Sobel test. The findings showed that LAPKIN administrative workload had no significant effect on teacher performance or work motivation. In contrast, principal leadership had a positive and significant effect on both teacher performance and work motivation. Work motivation also significantly influenced teacher performance. Furthermore, work motivation was unable to mediate the relationship between LAPKIN administrative workload and teacher performance. However, work motivation successfully mediated the relationship between principal leadership and teacher performance. These findings indicate that participative principal leadership plays an important role in improving teachers’ motivation and performance. Therefore, school principals are encouraged to strengthen leadership practices that support teacher productivity and effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of academic supervision and work discipline on teacher performance through organizational commitment as a mediating variable at SMP Negeri 2 Sosopan. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. The population consisted of 54 teachers, and all were selected as respondents using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4.1. The results indicate that academic supervision and work discipline have a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment. Organizational commitment also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. However, academic supervision and work discipline do not significantly affect teacher performance directly. Furthermore, organizational commitment significantly mediates the relationship between academic supervision and work discipline and teacher performance. These findings imply that strengthening teachers' organizational commitment is essential to optimize the impact of academic supervision and work discipline on improving teacher performance.
