Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease that has recently become more common. We also often refer to diabetes mellitus as diabetes or blood sugar disease. This disease is a type of chronic disease whose initial sign is an increase in blood sugar levels as a result of a disturbance in the body's metabolic system. The organ that is disturbed is the pancreas, which no longer functions as it should. The pancreas is no longer able to produce the hormone insulin to meet the body's needs. Good management of diabetes mellitus requires 4 main pillars, namely education, meal planning, physical exercise and pharmacological intervention. One of the recommendations for managing diabetes mellitus is to use physical exercise. One exercise that can be done by diabetes mellitus sufferers is diabetes mellitus exercise. Diabetes melltus exercises are carried out using rhythmic movements 3 times a week for 1 month with an exercise duration of 30-60 minutes Exercise or physical exercise is an initial effort to prevent, control and overcome diabetes. Physical exercise can directly cause increased use of glucose by active muscles, and more open capillary beds so that more insulin receptors are available to become more active, which will have an effect on reducing blood glucose in diabetes mellitus patients. One exercise that diabetes sufferers can do is diabetes gymnastics. Physical exercise can directly cause an increase in glucose usage so that more insulin receptors are available and become more active, which will have an effect on reducing blood glucose in DM patients, resulting in changes in blood sugar levels. Physical exercise in type 2 DM plays a major role in regulating blood sugar levels. Exercise can reduce anxiety about the disease, create a feeling of joy and more self-confidence and ultimately improve the quality of life even though he suffers from a chronic illness. Diabetes exercises are often done because these exercises can work all the organs of the human body, from the brain to the toes. Because the impact of diabetes attacks the entire body. The lightest impact is tingling in the feet. Meanwhile, the worst thing is suffering a stroke. The varied movements make the brain work to memorize them. Getting the brain used to working can improve memory and strengthen concentration. This is a therapy for mild strokes and prevents dementia. The importance of controlling blood sugar levels for diabetes sufferers is to avoid complications that can cause death.

Abstract

Numeracy skills in the 21st century are essential because these skills not only support data analysis and number-based problem solving but are also needed in various aspects of life that affect the global community. The numeracy literacy of high school students has not been optimally trained, even though both abilities are needed to solve conceptual and contextual daily life problems in working on PISA and AKM items. This study was conducted to assess the numeracy literacy level of high school students in one of the cities in Central Java Province. As a survey with a quantitative approach, this study involved 150 high school students as respondents. The entire population became respondents in this study so the purposive sampling technique was applied. 24 out of 30 test items are empirically valid with a reliability value of 0.89. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to answer the numeracy literacy category of students. Based on the results, 35.60% was obtained which is included in the knowing level of numeracy literacy. The results of this study suggest more interactive and contextualized learning strategies to facilitate the transition to deeper understanding and application level.

Abstract

Cocoa beans (Theoborma cacao L.) are one part of the cocoa plant that is believed to contain high levels of polyphenol compounds that act as antioxidants. Cocoa beans are said to contain high polyphenol and flaovonoid compounds, which play an important role in the formation of antioxidants. Fermented cocoa beans have better quality in terms of taste, aroma, and color, but the fermentation process can cause a decrease in the content of polyphenol compounds in cocoa beans, causing a decrease in antioxidant activity. In the fermentation process, adding fermenters such as yeast tape can shorten the fermentation time. This study aims to determine the optimization of fermentation time to produce higher antioxidant activity of cocoa beans (Theobroma cacao L.) using the DPPH method. The results of the cocoa bean antioxidant test showed the IC50 value in the unfermented cocoa bean sample was 15.360 ppm, in the 1st day fermentation sample was 23.757 ppm, in the 2nd day fermentation sample was 3.574 ppm, in the 3rd day fermentation sample was 7.985 ppm, in the 4th day fermentation sample was 27.70 ppm, in the 5th day fermentation sample was 33.111 ppm, in the 6th day fermentation sample was 2.456 ppm, and in ascorbic acid as a positive control was 2.463 ppm. The data showed that the most optimum antioxidant value was found in the sample fermented for 6th days.

Abstract

Stunting is caused by various factors, primarily nutritional intake during the first 1,000 days of life. Stunting has significant impacts on children's health and can hinder Indonesia's demographic bonus in the future by affecting the competitiveness of its productive human resources. All parties are expected to care and take action in the effort to prevent stunting in children, including adolescents, who are part of Generation Z and the successors of the millennial generation. This topic was chosen to educate Gen Z about the relationship between stunting and the risk factors for non-communicable diseases. The method used involved administering questionnaires to assess participants’ understanding before and after the educational intervention. The results showed an increase in Gen Z's knowledge from 14% to 74%. In terms of health screening outcomes, 90% had normal blood pressure and 72% had normal blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Agarwood is a resin formed in plants that belong to the Thymelaeaceae family, including Gyrinops Versteeg, as a result of damage or microbial infection. The content of sesquiterpenes in both the wild and cultivated agarwood indicates its quality. Nevertheless, information regarding the comparison between the content has not been provided. This study aimed at identifying the sesquiterpenes in G. versteegii inoculated using the simpori technique with various dosages of inoculants (3; 9; and 18 mL/porous nail) and harvested at 18 months after inoculation. The harvested agarwood was extracted using n-hexane solvent. The chemical compositions were subsequently analyzed using the GC-MS. Compounds with a similarity index above 80% were analyzed, including their presence and percentage in the agarwood. The statistical significance test was carried out with a 5% level of significance. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed a P-value <0.05, indicating the significant differences between the inoculant dosages on the percentage of sesquiterpenes. Agarwood with F. solani at a dosage of 9 mL/porous nail shows the best result with a Mean Rank of 16 and 23.69% of sesquiterpenes. It contains aromadendrene; α-selinene; (1aS,4aS,8aR)-4a,8,8-trimethyl-2-methylene-1,1a,2,4a,5,6,7,8-ctahydrocyclopropa[d]naphthalene; 6-Methyl-2-(4-methylcyclohex-3-en-1-yl)hepta-1,5-dien-4-ol; alloaromadendrene; and eremophilene. Therefore, this dosage is recommended for optimizing agarwood production.

Abstract

This research aims to design and develop an audio-based Android application, Listen to Me app, specifically designed to support the learning needs of visually impaired children. The application seeks to enhance accessibility to educational content by providing audio-based materials, enabling users to engage with learning resources independently. The study adopts a Research and Development (RnD) approach, utilizing the Waterfall Method development model. This structured approach consists of four main stages: conducting a user needs analysis, designing the application, developing a prototype based on inclusive design principles, and testing the usability of the application with visually impaired children. Each stage is meticulously aligned with the goal of creating a user-friendly and effective learning tool. The findings reveal that the app significantly improves learning accessibility through its interactive features, such as voice-guided navigation and customizable audio content tailored to user preferences. These results highlight the potential of Listen to Me app to empower visually impaired children by fostering their independence in accessing and engaging with educational content. The primary contribution of this research is the development of an innovative and inclusive audio-based learning platform. It provides a technological solution that addresses the unique learning challenges faced by visually impaired children, offering them greater autonomy and opportunities in education.
