Abstract

Plant growth-promoting bacteria are well known as biostimulants, biofertilizers, bioprotectants, and biodegraders. The Pulang Pisau Food Estate is an Indonesian government program aimed at increasing rice crop production to achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency. Research on rhizobacteria in the Pulang Pisau Food Estate area is still relatively limited. In this study, we conducted in vitro assays to evaluate the potential of indigenous bacterial isolates from the Pulang Pisau Food Estate as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). The study focused on four bacterial isolates, which were tested for plant growth-promoting traits including phosphate solubilization, indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, effects on rice seed germination, and detached leaf assays to assess the ability of rhizobacteria to inhibit bacterial pathogens. The results of 16S rRNA gene identification suggested that isolates UNS-P1, UNS-P3, and UNS-R1 were closely related to Bacillus cereus, while one previously identified isolate (UNS-R2) was confirmed as Bacillus subtilis. All bacterial strains were able to produce IAA, while only one isolate demonstrated the ability to solubilize phosphate. In the germination test, no significant differences were observed in root length, but a significant difference in shoot (plant) height was detected. Bacillus subtilis (UNS-R2), at a 10³ dilution, resulted in significantly greater plant height compared to other treatments. Among the four bacterial isolates, only one showed the ability to inhibit the pathogen Pantoea ananatis. These results suggest that indigenous bacterial isolates from the Pulang Pisau Food Estate have potential as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and may contribute to enhancing plant growth and serve as biocontrol agents against P. ananatis.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents are residents aged 10–19 years. The number of Indonesian adolescents aged 10–19 years reaches around 43.5 million people, equivalent to 18% of the total population. It was recorded in 2014 that there were around 1.2 billion adolescents in the world, which also includes 18% of the global population. Adolescents are more vulnerable than adults to unplanned pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. The level of adolescent knowledge about healthy lifestyles and information on various diseases is very minimal. In 2021, it was recorded that 650,000 people died from HIV, while around 1.5 million people were infected with the virus. To prevent the worst-case scenario, namely 7.7 million HIV-related deaths in the next ten years, a significant increase in prevention efforts is needed. Purpose: To determine factors related to adolescent knowledge and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS. Method: Quantitative research with cross-sectional design to analyze factors related to adolescent knowledge and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS. Information in this study refers to secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS). For analysis purposes, researchers combined three datasets, namely IDBR71FL (Birth Code), IDCR71FL (Couple Code), and IDHR71FL (Household Code) to find relevant variables. Based on the inclusion criteria with stratified random sampling technique, the number of samples used was 168 respondents. The collected data were analyzed using chi square. Results: The majority of respondents had high school education as many as 96 (57.1%), lived in urban areas as many as 117 respondents (69.6%), did not get knowledge about HIV/AIDS as many as 132 (78.6%), did not get information about HIV/AIDS as many as 119 (70.8%), and most respondents did not get HIV/AIDS School as many as 110 (65.5%). Based on the chi square test, the most dominant variable was age (p value = 0.000). Conclusion: There is an increase in adolescent knowledge and attitudes about HIV-AIDS through school-based education programs (HIV/AIDS Schools). Age factors have the most dominant influence on adolescent knowledge and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS. Suggestion: It is hoped that further researchers can conduct analysis and interventions with more specific factors to see the increase in adolescent knowledge and attitudes towards HIV/AIDS.   Keywords: Adolescents; Attitude; HIV/AIDS; Knowledge. Abstract

The background of this research is the weakness of the marine product supply chain which reduces the interest of the Indonesian people to consume abundant fish. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of UTAUT and IRT factors on digital fishery platform acceptance. The study was conducted in the provinces of Banten and West Java using a convenience sampling technique. The data collected were 240 samples, consists of 151 samples from Banten province, and 89 samples from West Java province. The results of the study prove that three UTAUT factors, namely performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence significantly affect the intention to use digital platforms. Three IRT factors have a significant effect on resistance to using digital platforms. However, this study also shows low resistance and high acceptance on the digital fishery platform, so that the effect of resistance on the intention to use digital fishery platforms is proven to be negative and significant. The novelty of this research is the combination of UTAUT and IRT theory on digital platform acceptance. The practical benefits of this research can be used as a basis for decision-making to build a digital fishery platform that will benefit marine fish consumers and fishermen.

Abstract

Werkudoro Road in Tegal City is classified as a Class III road functioning as a secondary collector with a design speed of 40 km/h. One of the accident-prone locations along this route is at the Ketiwon Bridge. This study aims to assess the conformity of geometric road elements, specifically the horizontal and vertical alignments, with applicable technical standards, and to analyze their relationship with vehicle speed and driver behavior. A quantitative approach was applied, involving data collection through GNSS-based geometric measurements, vehicle speed surveys, and observations of traffic violations. The analysis revealed that the average operational speed reached 44 km/h, exceeding the designated design speed. The curve radius on the observed segment is 94 meters, which falls below the minimum required standard of 159 meters. Although the vertical gradient of 5.28% and the vertical curve length of 68.90 meters remain within the critical slope limit, the available stopping sight distance is only 82.50 meters—significantly lower than the required 182 meters. Based on these findings, several geometric elements of the road do not comply with existing standards and may compromise traffic safety. Therefore, improvements such as the installation of warning signs, enforcement of speed limits, and enhanced driver education are recommended to mitigate potential risks.

Abstract

Among various edaphoclimatic factors influencing coffee bean quality, altitude is one of the primary factors that should be taken into account. This study aims to explore the relationship between altitude, morphological traits, and biochemical composition of robusta coffee in Temanggung Regency, the largest coffee-producing area in Central Java Province, Indonesia. Research sites were purposively selected and categorized into two altitude groups: GS, PS, and GN, located at circa 600 m a.s.l., and GT, WO, and TG, located at circa 900 m a.s.l. A total of 15 morphological traits were observed, consisting of eight vegetative and seven generative traits. Caffeine content was measured following the AOAC procedure using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, while brew acidity was evaluated using a pH meter. Several morphological traits of Temanggung robusta coffee demonstrated significant relationships with altitude. Canopy and stem diameter showed negative correlations with altitude, with correlation coefficients of -0.366 and  -0.408, respectively. Conversely, fruit width               (r = 0.041), bean length (r = 0.049), and bean thickness (r = 0.047) exhibited positive correlations. Regarding biochemical composition, caffeine content stood out by displaying a strong positive correlation with altitude (r = 0.816). Additionally, several morphological traits, including the number of primary branches, the number of productive branches, the number of fruits per bunch, and traits related to fruits and beans, appear to be advantageous for selection and breeding programs. Understanding these relationships provides valuable insights for developing superior Temanggung robusta coffee plants adapted to specific altitudinal conditions.
