Abstract

problem of climate change is currently a problem that worries people around the world. Education is considered one way to solve this problem. However, the material on climate change is challenging to understand because the concepts contained in it are complex and require good thinking skills. Therefore, learning is needed that can facilitate this. Immersive Virtual Learning (IVL) analyzes the results of its application to students' understanding and thinking process abilities. The use of a pre-post control group design involving 59 junior high school students showed student learning outcomes in the class were significantly different from the control class. The understanding of the concept of treatment students is better than the control class students. The same results are also shown in the results of data analysis related to thinking skills in the two classes. It is hoped that there will be further research related to IVL to get better learning outcomes

Abstract

One of the exciting topics in the socio-scientific issue is cloning. This issue is seen as a debatable issue in religion and science. In the practice of science learning in class, Biology teachers are required to be able to present this topic proportionally. This research aims to study how the arguments of Biology teachers in Islamic organization-based senior high schools in Indonesia face the cloning issue of sacrificed animals. This research was conducted in three Islamic organization-based senior high schools. This research uses the qualitative method by observation process on the learning of cloning topic in the class, questionnaire, and an in-depth interview with Biology teachers of XII grade from the three different schools in Banten Province, Indonesia. Results of the research show that related to the cloning issue of sacrifice (Qurban) animals is not only related to the religious aspect; there is the existence of specific argumentation patterns in the mind of the teachers. The designs are presented in the frameworks of economic (Organization A), social humanity (Organization B), and knowledge (Organization C). These three frameworks of organization give the primary colors for each teacher's argumentation. Thus, further studies must explore the effects of Islamic organizations on the arguments and the practice of cloning topic teaching at Islamic organization-based senior high schools.

Abstract

Konsep yang disampaikan ketiga guru didominasi oleh konsep-konsep yang seharusnya sudah diajarkan di jenjang SD, namun diajarkan kembali di jenjang SMP.Kata Kunci: kedalaman konsep, keterkaitan antar konsep Depth analysis and relationships between concepts in natural science learning during the pandemic  Abstract: This paper is aimed to show the results of the analysis of the depth and interrelationships between concepts in the topic on interaction of living things with the environment and environmental pollution material that was delivered by the teacher to junior high school students in distance learning. There were three teachers who became the research subjects, all of which used different media in delivering the material. The first teacher uses a combination of WhatsApp and Google Classroom, the second teacher uses a combination of WhatsApp and Zoom, and the third teacher uses a combination of WhatsApp and school E-learning. The research was conducted by analyzing the learning carried out by the three teachers and the material presented, and supported by the results of interviews with teachers. The results of this study indicate that both the first, second, and third teachers are still limited in conveying concepts, both in terms of the duration of concept delivery and the number of sub-concepts delivered. The teacher is only limited to explaining the meaning accompanied by examples without further discussing the concept, as well as its relation to other concepts. It is very rare for teachers to link between concepts, so that the concepts conveyed seem to stand alone and have no connection with other concepts. The concepts presented by the three teachers were dominated by concepts that should have been taught at the elementary level, but were taught again at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The accuracy of the selection of approaches, methods, and media for the characteristics of combined science materials Abstract: This paper presents the results of a video analysis of learning activities to compare the accuracy of the selection of teaching strategies (approaches, methods, and media) by three subjects with different career paths. The three subjects are college students majoring in education conducting simulations in the classroom, final-year college students conducting a Field Experience Program (PPL), and experienced teachers. The results of the analysis show that experienced teachers use the right approach, method, and media that are more varied than both students. Besides, experienced teachers tend to be better at learning material and are able to link learning to everyday life. This was also observed in PPL students who used everyday phenomena as the discussion material. However, the three subjects showed a relatively similar time distribution pattern of the concept presentation, which is more than 90% in core activities and less than 5% for preliminary and closing activities. This paper is expected to present a picture of the reality that occurs in the field as an evaluation material in learning science, both for students, teachers, or all parties involved in the world of education.

Abstract

Students and even teachers, particularly in elementary schools, continue to have misconceptions about free fall. When using traditional learning methods, it is difficult to change these misconceptions. The purpose of this article is to reconstruct elementary school students' conceptions using a reflective conceptual change model (RCCM) aided by visual multimedia. The research design is quasi-experimental. The participants in this study were grade 4 elementary school students, 20 of whom were female and 10 of whom were male. A four-tiered test and an observation sheet were used as research instruments. Using data analysis, the findings revealed that all students had a new perspective on free fall. Male students improved their conceptual revisions better than female students. There are 90% of male students experiencing a conceptual change from misconception to scientific conception, compared to 15% of female students. RCCM assisted by visual multimedia can improve students' conception to a higher level

Abstract

Affective dimension is one that must be assessed. Unfortunately, there is no learning that teaches students specifically how to recognize and control affective. Therefore, this study provides training to students on meta-affective strategies during science learning. The Static-group pretest-posttest design was chosen as the research method because it compares integrated training (facilitated by the teacher) and separate training (independent by students). MATS (Meta-Affective Trait Scale) questionnaire was adapted by adding 34 statements so that the total number is 51 statements. There were two experimental groups, each consisting of 50 students. Statistical tests show that there is no difference in students' meta-affective in integrated training and separate training. However, analysis per statement showed that separate training were better at recognizing and regulating meta-affective. In addition, in both integrated training and separate training, it is equally difficult to reduce negative emotions. This result implies that science learning should also focus on the affective and teacher should not give negative labels to students.
