Abstract

The quality of vocational education is closely related to the effectiveness of school management and data-based governance. This study examines the effect of RMD, a regional education data management system, on the quality of public vocational schools in Bandar Lampung City. An explanatory quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data were collected from 263 teachers selected through proportional random sampling across nine public vocational schools. A Likert-scale questionnaire was used to measure RMD utilization and school quality, and the data were analysed using prerequisite tests and simple linear regression. The results indicate that RMD utilization has a positive and statistically significant effect on education quality. The coefficient of determination shows that RMD explains 46.8% of the variance in school quality. These findings confirm that effective use of data management systems contributes substantially to planning, monitoring, and evaluation processes in vocational schools. Strengthening data utilization practices is therefore essential to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in vocational education.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore mathematical concepts embedded in six traditional cultural objects and to examine how these concepts can contribute to contextual mathematics learning through an ethnomathematical perspective. Method: This research employed a qualitative ethnomathematical approach to identify mathematical elements contained in selected cultural artifacts. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and literature analysis of six traditional cultural objects. Each object was examined to identify implicit mathematical structures, including geometric forms, symmetry, spatial relationships, numerical patterns, and proportional reasoning. The analysis focused on interpreting how these mathematical ideas are represented within the design, structure, and functional aspects of the cultural objects. Findings: The results reveal that the six cultural objects contain various mathematical concepts such as geometric shapes, symmetry, measurement, patterns, and proportional relationships. These concepts are reflected in the structural composition, decorative motifs, and spatial arrangements found within the artifacts. The analysis demonstrates that cultural objects can represent mathematical ideas in a concrete and meaningful way, making them relevant resources for mathematics learning. Significance: This study provides evidence that cultural artifacts contain valuable mathematical knowledge that can support culturally responsive mathematics education. The findings highlight the potential of ethnomathematics to bridge cultural knowledge and formal mathematics learning, thereby enhancing students’ conceptual understanding while fostering appreciation for local cultural traditions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how transformational leadership of school principals contributes to improving educational quality within the framework of Child-Friendly Schools (CFS). A literature review method was employed by systematically analyzing relevant national and international scholarly sources that discuss transformational leadership and child-friendly education. The findings indicate that the application of the four core dimensions of transformational leadership—idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation—supports the development of high-quality school policies aligned with the fundamental principles of child-friendly schools. These leadership practices encourage the creation of safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that respect and fulfill students’ rights. Furthermore, the implementation of child-friendly educational practices contributes to students’ character development and enhances the overall quality of schools. The study implies that transformational leadership is a strategic approach for school principals in fostering sustainable educational improvement through child-friendly school policies and practices. Strengthening leadership capacity in this area is therefore essential to ensure the successful implementation of child-friendly education.
