Abstract

Background: Kidney dysfunction causes disruptions in the body, necessitating long-term treatment to replace the kidneys' role and function. This can lead to lifelong dependence on dialysis machines. These changes in patients can trigger stress, such as withdrawing from others and suicidal thoughts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between stress levels and health-seeking behavior. Methods: This study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population used was hemodialysis patients at a hospital in Mojokerto City, meeting the inclusion criteria. Respondents in this study were 83 hemodialysis patients selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using the DASS questionnaire and the Health-Seeking Behavior Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using the Rank Sperman statistical test. Results: The results of the study concluded that respondents experienced moderate stress levels of 49.2%, mild stress of 38.1%, and severe stress of 12.7%. The behavior of seeking health assistance for CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis was 26% going to the hospital, 225 going to the doctor/clinic, 21% going to the community health center, 17% taking medication purchased at the pharmacy, 4% taking medication purchased at the shop, 4% taking herbal medicine/medicine, 4% resting/sleeping and 2% just left alone. There is a weak negative relationship where the lighter the stress level, the better the behavior of seeking health assistance Conclusion: There is a weak negative correlation, where lower stress levels lead to better health-seeking behavior. It is hoped that the management of Mojokerto City Hospital can plan or develop a program to reduce stress levels for patients and their families by providing health education about CKD and appropriate health-seeking behavior to prevent complications

Abstract

Taxpayers bear additional burdens beyond the nominal amount of tax paid, commonly referred to as tax compliance costs. Drawing on information asymmetry theory, this study aims to explore factors that affect tax compliance costs. This study uses convenience sampling techniques to get 122 respondents, entrepreneurs, and independent professionals around Indonesia. Questionnaire sent by word of mouth and social media, using an online questionnaire platform. This study applies Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) the results indicate that tax knowledge, tax information, and tax complexity are significantly associated with tax compliance costs. These findings suggest that low levels of tax knowledge have the potential to increase tax compliance costs. In addition, the complexity of the tax system and unequal access to tax information may further increase the compliance costs. The results of this study provide a basis for policymakers to design a more efficient tax system.

Abstract

Schools play a critical role in enabling students to discover, develop, and express their creative potential. However, instructional practices that explicitly promote students’ creative thinking skills in mathematics learning remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine and describe the creative thinking processes of junior high school students in solving mathematical reasoning problems. This study employed a qualitative case study design involving 35 eighth-grade students. A mathematical reasoning test was administered to identify students’ levels of creative thinking. Based on the results, four students representing different categories of creative thinking (imitative, routine, creative, and very creative) were purposively selected as research subjects. Data were collected through students’ written work, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that each category demonstrates distinctive characteristics in terms of problem-solving strategies, flexibility of ideas, and originality in constructing solutions. Students in the higher creative categories tended to generate multiple strategies and more original solution processes. These findings emphasize the importance of designing mathematics learning activities that encourage exploration of diverse strategies, idea generation, and reflective thinking.

Abstract

Mathematical argumentation is important for developing students’ reasoning abilities. This study aims to analyze junior high school students’ written and oral argumentation abilities when solving reasoning tasks. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, involving 31 ninth-grade students from SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. The study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research instruments consisted of a mathematical reasoning test, interview protocols, and documentation. The mathematical reasoning test included three questions. The results of the tests and interviews were analyzed using the main components of Toulmin’s argumentation model, which consist of claims, data, warrants, backing, qualifiers, and rebuttals. Based on the test and interview results, students’ argumentation abilities were categorized into five levels, from Level 1 to Level 5. The findings show that 31 students (100%) reached Level 1, 15 (48.38%) reached Level 2, and 9 (29.03%) reached Level 3. No students reached Level 4 or Level 5. These findings indicate that students can construct claims, data, and warrants when solving mathematical reasoning tasks. However, students still need to be trained to develop backing, qualifiers, and rebuttals in order to complete the argumentation process appropriately in both written and oral forms.

Abstract

Background: Herbal milk formulated with avocado oil and turmeric is a functional beverage with potential health benefits, but its microbiological safety requires evaluation to determine appropriate storage conditions. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effects of storage temperature and duration on total bacterial count (Total Plate Count/TPC) as well as the presence of Escherichia coli, coliforms, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterobacteriaceae. Methods: A laboratory experimental design using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, involving two factors: storage temperature (4°C, 25°C, and 40°C) and storage duration (0, 3, and 7 days). Results: The results showed that storage at 4°C effectively affected microbial growth, indicated by a decrease in TPC from 5.51 log CFU/mL to 2.57 log CFU/mL on day 7. In contrast, storage at room temperature (25°C) and elevated temperature (40°C) led to increased microbial activity during the first three days. Conclusion: Overall, storage at 4°C is recommended as the safest condition, with a maximum storage duration of seven days to maintain the microbiological safety and stability of the avocado–turmeric herbal milk.
