Abstract

Dual-career student-athletes must be supported by rigorous training and academic processes that suit their needs. Unfortunately, student-athletes' academic performances are not as satisfactory as their sports achievements. Their sports training and the academic process are needed. This qualitative study aimed to analyze the academic services student-athletes receive from faculty and their expectations. A total of 30 studentathletes who had achieved sports achievements at regional, national, and international levels were interviewed about academic services ranging from planning, materials, learning processes, assessment, and expectations. The data were analyzed using the NVivo application. The findings of this study are that student academic services are stated to be the same between student-athletes and non-athletes. The faculty has provided special licensing services for student-athletes; there needs to be a better alignment of faculty and lecturer-level licensing. Student-athletes feel that the allocation of academic activities needs to be lowered, assignments are not by theconditions of student-athletes, and students need special athlete classes that are flexible to rigorous sports activities

Abstract

This study is a systematic review that aims to evaluate the effect of exercise on mental health, especially in overcoming stress and anxiety. By reviewing a number of studies selected through strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, the review gathered data from a variety of sources including peer-reviewed journals, articles. The data analysis method used is meta-analysis. The results showed that physical activity can significantly reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. This applies to different types of sports, from aerobics, yoga, to strength training. This therapeutic effect is associated with the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters that play a role in improving mood and reducing tension. In addition, exercise also improves sleep quality and aids in the regulation of circadian rhythms, which directly affect the management of stress and anxiety. The study also found that exercise intensity and duration played a role in its tiveness. Light to moderate exercise, performed regularly, is more effective in reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety compared to sporadic high-intensity exercise. Consistency and continuity in exercise routines prove to be more important than the intensity of exercise performed. However, the study also acknowledged variations in individual responses to exercise. Factors such as age, gender, initial health conditions, and personal preference for the type of exercise can affect how effective exercise is at coping with stress and anxiety in a particular individual. Taken together, these findings provide strong evidence supporting the use of exercise as a non-pharmacological strategy in managing stress and anxiety. The study encourages health practitioners to recommend exercise as an integral part of mental health treatment plans, as well as suggesting further research to explore specific mechanisms behind the psychological benefits of physical activity.

Abstract

Climate change is a definite, indisputable, clear, firm, and imminent reality, and has the potential to become a serious threat and challenge for the agriculture and fisheries sector. Climate change not only has an impact on the economy but also the health of farmers and fishermen. Farmers and fishermen must have health adaptation behavior to anticipate the adverse effects of climate change. This study aims to look at the individual's adaptive behavior and the factors that influence it. This study uses a cross sectional design on the heads of families of farmers and fishermen affected by climate change in the Province of West Sumatra, Indonesia. The number of samples as many as 150 samples were taken by probability proportional to size (PPS). Collecting data using primary data with interviews method. Data processed by computer and multivariate analysis with logistic regression testThe results of this study found the influence of husband's education, family income, self-efficacy, self-awareness, attitudes, perceptions, life skills, health care support, access to information about climate change together on health adaptation behavior. The most important determinants of health adaptation behavior are husband's education and self-awareness. There is a need for non-formal education in the form of socialization and training on adaptation of public health in the face of climate change. The government must integrate health and climate programs, climate socialization for health workers and provide compensation for people exposed to climate change.

Abstract

This research highlights the strategic role of sports in improving the quality of human resources, focusing on Wushu as a branch of achievement. There is a dominant attack technique, Tengkong Bailian, which requires strength, speed, and precision. Plyometric exercises, such as Split Squat Jump and Jump To Box, are recognized as methods to increase muscle power. Flexibility is also considered crucial in sports activities, and the technical development of Wushu athletes requires the integration of plyometric training with a focus on strength, speed, and flexibility. This study tried to reveal the difference in the influence between the two plyometric exercise methods on the ability of Tengkong Bailian, taking into account the degree of flexibility. Results showed that both methods were effective, with Split Squat Jump superior at high flex, and Jump To Box more effective at low flex. The implication is that the integration of both training methods can promote optimal results in coaching Wushu athletes, with emphasis on individual characteristics and degree of flexibility. These findings provide guidance for Wushu trainers to develop effective exercise programs

Abstract

Diarrheal disease remains a persistent public health challenge in Indonesian municipalities despite substantial improvements in basic sanitation infrastructure. This comprehensive review synthesizes epidemiological data, microbiological water quality assessments, and environmental health risk factors to elucidate the complex pathways linking water safety, sanitation practices, and disease incidence. Examining municipal surveillance data from Payakumbuh City, West Sumatra (2020–2024), we document a 24.3% reduction in reported diarrheal cases concurrent with modest improvements in municipal water quality metrics. However, critical sanitation vulnerabilities persist, with 10.8% of households maintaining reliance on microbiologically contaminated wells (mean E. coli: 3,367 CFU/100mL), and 65.2% of septic tank systems never receiving professional emptying. Spatial risk mapping reveals that 85.1% of municipal subdistricts face high-to-very-high wastewater management hazards despite 78.4% coverage by piped water systems. This investigation demonstrates that the discrepancy between aggregate infrastructure coverage and micro-level sanitation quality represents the principal challenge in tropical urban settings. Targeted interventions addressing critical gaps in septage management, household-level water treatment, and behavioral hygiene transformation are necessary to accelerate disease reduction. The integration of Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA) methodologies with epidemiological surveillance provides an evidence framework for prioritizing resource allocation in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Keberadaan rawa menunjukkan hubungan signifikan dengan kejadian malaria (p = 0,041; OR = 4,36; 95% CI = 1,02–18,55).
