Abstract

The goal of this community service project was to raise the socioeconomic standing of coastal communities whose restricted participation in development decision-making has limited their ability to become self-sufficient. The primary problem identified was low participation in educational programs that promote social and economic empowerment. The initiative adopted a participatory community empowerment approach, making the community the focal point of learning, planning, and execution. Capacity development was achieved through instructional interventions, needs mapping, group-based mentoring, and marine-based entrepreneurship training grounded in religious values and sustainable local practices. According to the findings, community involvement in cooperative fish farming has grown, there is greater collaboration between pesantren youth organizations, and small-scale seafood processing enterprises are using local marine resources. Additionally, the initiative increased public awareness of the shared social responsibility to promote local development. In conclusion, the participatory education-based empowerment model successfully enhanced community capacity and fostered long-term socioeconomic development.

Abstract

Sociolinguistics is the study of the relationship between language and society. Every society has different language styles when they interact with each other. With the many variations they have, it allows them to mix their languages in their speech. The mixing of one language with another, in the field of sociolinguistics is called code-mixing. The use of code-mixing in society has become common. This happened to one YouTuber, Gita Savitri. Therefore, this research focuses on code mixing that appears in Atta Halilintar's YouTube channel videos. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of code mix that appear in Gita Savitri's YouTube video channel. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and humans as the main instruments in this research. In collecting data, this research uses the documentation method. This research uses content analysis which focuses on analyzing the types of code-mixing defined by Musyken. Then, the results of the types are calculated by using Musyken's formula and Hoffman’s theory. As a result, there are 39 insertion utterances, 59 substitution utterances, 25 congruent lexicalization, 60 intra lexical code ming,73 intra sential code mixing utterances in the childfree episode.

Abstract

Abstract. Sari VK, Iriawati NPA, Rusdiana RY, Sa’diyah H, Slameto, Basuki. 2026. Assessment of morphological, molecular diversity, proximate and sensory properties of superior local durian in Jember District, East Java, Indonesia. Asian J Agric 10 (1): g100126. https://doi.org/10.13057/asianjagric/g100126. One of the most valuable fruits in Indonesia is durian (Durio zibethinus). The Panti District in Jember District, East Java, Indonesia, offers an ideal combination of climatic and geographical conditions conducive to durian cultivation. This study aimed to investigate the superior local durian's morphological, molecular, proximate, and sensory diversity. Nine accessions of durian were collected from Panti District. Qualitative characters were evaluated using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, while quantitative characters were analyzed descriptively to assess morphological diversity. Molecular variation was examined using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers, proximate composition was determined for fruit flesh and seeds, and sensory attributes (taste, aroma, color, texture) were assessed. Results showed coefficients of variation for 10 quantitative characters ranging from 11.47 to 43.3% (low to rather low), and diversity indices for 28 qualitative characters ranging from 0.349 to 1.465 (low to moderate). Five superior durian cultivars from the Panti Jember cluster formed two groups with approximately 30% genetic similarity. The proximal content of durian accessions varies due to differences in genetic material. Sensory tests have high diversity in texture and color characters, which are critical factors influencing consumer preference. These findings provide a basic data for developing effective conservation and breeding strategies to support sustainable durian cultivation.

Abstract

The declining interest of communities in langghar as traditional educational institutions has coincided with growing preference for TPQ, which are perceived as more structured and effective in Al-Qur’an instruction, thereby necessitating a comparative study on the effectiveness and relevance of both within the context of community Al-Qur’an education. This study aimed to analyse differences in the effectiveness of Al-Qur’an reading instructional methods between langghar that employ conventional methods and TPQ that apply the Ummi method, as well as to compare the relevance and appeal of both institutions in the community’s socio-religious context. A mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design was employed at Langghar Baitul Amal, Langghar Darun Najah, and TPQ Sahabat Qur’an, involving santri in grades 4–6 of elementary school. Quantitative data were obtained through Al-Qur’an reading ability tests and analysed using descriptive statistics (means) and the Mann–Whitney U test, while qualitative data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and subsequently analysed thematically. The results showed significant differences in tartil and fashohah abilities between TPQ and langghar santri (p < 0.05), with TPQ santri achieving higher outcomes, whereas langghar continued to demonstrate strong relevance in shaping spiritual character and preserving the religious traditions of Madurese society. These findings affirm that TPQ are pedagogically more effective due to their structured instructional system, while langghar are effective in the internalisation of religious values through close emotional bonds between teachers and santri, such that both institutions complement one another within the contemporary Al-Qur’an education ecosystem. This study is expected to enrich the body of knowledge and raise public awareness of the importance of Al-Qur’an education and socio-religious life.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the transformation of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) values in the dynamics of religious moderation at the Nurul Jamal Mosque (Langgar Nurul Jamal). Using a qualitative, descriptive-empirical approach, data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Aswaja values, such as tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), tasamuh (tolerance), and i'tidal (justice), are embodied in the yasinan (recitation of the Yasin), sholawatan (prayer), tadarusan (contemplation), istighosah (religious observance), and the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday, reinforcing four indicators of religious moderation: national commitment, tolerance, non-violence, and acceptance of local traditions. The simple, communal, and tradition-based religious patterns of rural communities make these values easily internalized through repeated social habits. Thus, the Nurul Jamal Mosque represents a peaceful, inclusive, and contextual Islamic practice that addresses social change in rural communities.
