Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of kiai in implementing prophetic educational values at the Nahdhatut Ta'limiyah Islamic Boarding School, Pamekasan Regency, and analyze the function of kiai as a cultural broker in maintaining a balance between religion, local culture, and the demands of modernity. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods in the form of participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that KH. M. Musleh Adnan applies prophetic educational leadership based on three main pillars, namely humanization (amar ma'ruf), liberation (nahi munkar), and transcendence (faith in Allah). These three pillars are internalized through educational strategies that include exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), habituation (ta'wid), and continuous mentoring (muraqabah). In practice, kiai not only act as educators and spiritual leaders, but also as cultural mediators capable of integrating Islamic teachings with local Madurese traditions, such as tahlilan (religious gatherings), haul (haul), and public religious studies (pengajian). This integration demonstrates a contextual form of prophetic education, where local culture is positioned as a medium for da'wah (Islamic preaching) and a means of character formation for students. Furthermore, KH. M. Musleh Adnan encourages students to have a critical, adaptive, and open attitude towards technological developments and social change, without losing the foundation of Islamic spiritual and moral values. With this approach, the Nahdhatut Ta'limiyah Islamic Boarding School has developed as a humanistic, transformative, and moderate educational space, and functions as a center for the culturalization of prophetic values relevant to the context of contemporary society.

Abstract

The phenomenon of buying and selling money bouquets in Tanjung Hilir, Pontianak, is increasingly developing as part of the gift-giving trend that prioritizes aesthetic value, uniqueness, and flexibility for various celebratory events. The growing demand for money bouquets raises questions regarding the conformity of this practice with the principles of Islamic Economic Law, particularly concerning price determination and the use of money as an object of transaction. This study aims to describe the practice of buying and selling money bouquets in Tanjung Hilir, Pontianak, and analyze it from the perspective of Islamic Economic Law. This research employs a qualitative method with a normative-empirical approach through data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model, including the stages of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the practice of buying and selling money bouquets is conducted both directly and through social media, with the use of real money as part of the bouquet based on mutual agreement between the seller and buyer. Price determination includes components of material costs, the nominal value of the money, and the creative service of the arranger. Based on the analysis of Islamic economic law, this practice is permissible as it does not contain elements of usury (riba), uncertainty (gharar), or gambling (maisir), and the price difference is considered as ujrah or compensation for the arranging service. In conclusion, the buying and selling of money bouquets in Tanjung Hilir, Pontianak, is deemed valid and in accordance with sharia principles as long as it is conducted transparently, fairly, and based on the mutual consent of both parties.

Abstract

This study explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) with Natural Language Processing (NLP) language management in collaboration with Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) which produces modern language modeling techniques such as Word Embeddings, N-Gram, Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Transformer Models, Generative Pre-trainde Transformer (GPT) and its variants, such as Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) in carrying out Quranic understanding activities. The success of AI with its NLP has been proven to be able to understand the Quran well. However, there are several challenges and limitations that cannot be done while still requiring the role of humans because they are dealing with the text of the Qur'an in classical Arabic with its morphology, syntax and semantic complexity. As well as concerns that algorithms may not be able to understand the cultural, historical, and theological nuances that often affect the interpretation of the verse. Therefore, it is appropriate to conduct research to measure the level of understanding of the Quran carried out by AI using the Bloom taxonomy instrument. Using a qualitative approach and literature study related to AI features with its NLP, Bloom's taxonomy combines the two. The results of this study show that AI capabilities when measured with Bloom's taxonomy are fully achieved at level 1, namely Remembering, while at the level of Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, the ability is limited. And not able to do it at the level of Evaluating and Creating.

Abstract

This article explores John Haught’s model of the science–religion relationship, comprising four main approaches: conflict, contrast, contact, and confirmation. Using library research and descriptive–comparative analysis, the study examines how Haught’s framework offers a dialogical paradigm that enables constructive integration between modern science and religious teachings. The findings reveal that Haught’s “contact” and “confirmation” models hold significant relevance for the development of Islamic education, particularly in designing curricula that respond to scientific progress while maintaining theological integrity. Haught’s thought helps bridge the dichotomy between science and religion, fosters a religiously grounded scientific attitude, and promotes learning that is more critical, open, and holistic. Thus, Haught’s model of the science–religion relationship provides an epistemological foundation for strengthening the integration of knowledge within contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the symptoms of a mixed soul, namely the integration of the functions of reason ('aql), heart (qalb), and desire (nafs), and the formation of student character within the framework of Islamic Educational Psychology. The study was conducted using a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, examining Islamic literature, contemporary educational psychology, and character education in Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that when these elements of the soul are out of balance, for example, when reason fails to control desires, or the heart fails to act as a moral guide, symptoms of a mixed soul emerge, including unstable motivation, inner conflict, and immature character behavior. Conversely, Islamic religious education, which consciously instills spiritual, emotional, and moral values, and effectively integrates the functions of reason, heart, and desire, contributes positively to the strengthening of student character. As psychological beings, humans possess complex and interacting mental functions. In psychological studies, mental functions generally encompass cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. These three functions do not operate in isolation but often appear in a mixed form, influencing an individual's behavior, emotions, and learning process. This article aims to examine the concept of mixed mental functions, the various forms of human mental symptoms that arise from the interaction of these functions, and their application in education. The method used is a literature review of psychological and educational theories. The results of this study indicate that understanding mixed mental functions is crucial for educators in designing holistic, humanistic learning strategies that are oriented towards the overall development of students.

Abstract

Drying coffee beans with a solar dryer is a sustainable solution to improve quality and production efficiency. However, its implementation in the field faces challenges such as high material costs, design complexity, and the gap between physical principles and farmers' socioeconomic conditions. This article analyzes the physical concepts underlying coffee drying using solar dryers, including heat transfer dynamics, numerical modeling-based design optimization (CFD and FEM), and technology integration such as IoT and hybrid systems. A literature review of 20 related studies showed that while solar dryers are theoretically effective, for example through thermal efficiency improvements of up to 40% with vacuum collectors, the use of expensive materials, reliance on fossil energy in hybrid systems, and lack of technical education hinder the adoption of this technology at the farm level. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of local material-based designs such as bamboo, participatory education, and holistic policy interventions to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and field realities.

Abstract

Culture is a reflection of the values, traditions, and local wisdom of the community that develop in everyday life, as well as being a medium for the expression of various mathematical and philosophical concepts. This study aims to explore the concept of spatial shapes and the mathematical and philosophical values contained in the Joglo Pencu Traditional House in Kudus Regency through an ethnomathematics perspective. The study uses an exploratory method with an ethnographic approach to reveal the relationship between local cultural elements and geometric forms of spatial shapes. The subject of the study was Mr. P, the caretaker of the Joglo Pencu Traditional House located in the Kudus Kretek Museum area. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the structure of the Joglo Pencu Traditional House contains various simple spatial shapes such as cuboids, cubes, rectangular pyramids, cylinders, and spheres, which represent mathematical values. In addition, each spatial shape also implies philosophical values, such as balance, order, and the outlook on life of the Kudus community. This finding confirms that the Joglo Pencu Traditional House contains mathematical and philosophical values that can be analyzed through the geometry of the spatial structure.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the digital transformation phenomenon carried out by the Great Mosque of Asy-Syuhada’ Pamekasan in developing its educational and da’wah functions. The use of digital media such as YouTube, Radio 88.6 FM, and social media has created new opportunities for urban communities to remain connected to religious activities amid busy modern life. This research aims to reveal how the Asy-Syuhada’ Mosque develops Islamic education through digital media and how the community responds to this innovation. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the mosque’s digital learning activities are well-organized and participatory, involving administrators, lecturers, youth organizations, and congregants. Digital media play an essential role in expanding the scope of da’wah, strengthening religious literacy, and fostering a sense of belonging among the congregation. Therefore, the mosque’s digitalization can be regarded as a form of socio-religious innovation that maintains spiritual continuity while reinforcing the mosque’s role as a modern Islamic learning center in the digital era.
