Abstract

Dermatoporosis is a chronic skin fragility syndrome common in the elderly, characterized by thinning of the skin that increases the risk of injury, bruising, and delayed wound healing. Chronic hyperglycemia and poor glycemic control have been reported to be associated with an increased risk of dermatoporosis. This community service activity aims to screen blood sugar levels, HbA1c, and dermatoporosis and educate the elderly using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) method at Panti Bina Bhakti, South Tangerang. This activity involved 93 elderly participants aged >65 years. Meanwhile, based on the results of the HbA1C examination, 52 people had moderate glycemic control and 24 people had poor glycemic control. The results of the dermatoporosis examination have not been included. Early intervention through education and monitoring of blood sugar levels can reduce the risk of dermatoporosis, improve the health of the elderly's skin, and reduce the burden of health care.

Abstract

Cholesterol is a lipid compound produced by the body and obtained from food, functioning to build cell membranes, produce certain hormones, and support metabolic processes in the body. Excessive cholesterol levels can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This Community Service initiative aims to enhance the understanding and awareness of staff and employees at St. Yoseph High School, Cakung, regarding the risks of high cholesterol and preventive measures through routine screenings and health education. The program follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, encompassing planning for education and screenings, conducting information sessions and cholesterol measurements, evaluating program effectiveness, and implementing follow-up actions for continuous improvement. Education on a healthy lifestyle, which includes a balanced diet, physical activity, and avoidance of alcohol and smoking, plays a vital role in maintaining normal cholesterol levels. Routine screenings are also essential for the early detection of high cholesterol risks. This initiative is expected to promote healthy behaviors and support improved workplace health by raising awareness about the importance of cholesterol prevention in the work environment.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is one of the health problems that is often experienced by the elderly and has a major impact on their quality of life, especially because it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disorders. This condition often does not show symptoms, but the process of atherosclerosis can develop slowly and cause serious complications if not treated early. The Community Service Program (PKM) implemented at Panti Werdha Hana aims to increase awareness among the elderly of the importance of early detection of Cholesterol and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels as part of efforts to prevent heart disease. This activity applies the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach, including total cholesterol and HDL examinations using the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) method, as well as interactive education about risk factors and healthy lifestyles. The results of the activity showed that out of 76 participants, 38 people (50%) had total cholesterol levels above normal, while 22 people (28.95%) had low or very low HDL levels. Early detection through screening has proven effective in identifying cardiovascular risks earlier and providing a basis for timely medical and educational interventions. Through this activity, it is hoped that the elderly can understand their health conditions better and take preventive steps to maintain lipid levels within normal limits, to improve the quality of life and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications in the future.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia, characterized by elevated serum uric acid levels, is a health issue that has the potential to cause serious complications such as urinary tract stones and kidney disorders, particularly in the productive-age population. This community service program was implemented using the PDCA method in Danau Sunter, North Jakarta, involving 49 adult participants. The activities included uric acid level screening through blood tests, result analysis, and educational sessions on the prevention and management of hyperuricemia. The screening results showed that all participants had uric acid levels within the normal range. The educational intervention aimed to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing long-term complications. This program demonstrates that screening and education can be effective strategies for the early detection and prevention of urinary tract stones and for maintaining kidney health among productive-age individuals. Abstract

Hypertriglyceridemia is a metabolic condition that often occurs in the elderly and contributes greatly to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as stroke, heart attack, and acute pancreatitis. This condition often does not show symptoms in the early stages, so regular triglyceride level checks are an important step for early detection. The Community Service Program (PKM) at Panti Werdha Hana aims to increase awareness of the elderly about the importance of early detection of dyslipidemia through blood triglyceride level screening activities. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach which includes lipid profile examination and educational counseling on risk factors and prevention of hypertriglyceridemia. Of the 76 elderly participants, it was found that 33 people (43.42%) had high triglyceride levels, while 43 people (56.58%) showed normal levels. These results emphasize the importance of routine checks and education to reduce the risk of cardiometabolic disease and support a healthier and more independent quality of life for the elderly.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health, including the phenomenon of academic burnout, has become a critical concern in post-pandemic educational settings. Burnout in teenagers is often triggered by academic pressure, social expectations, and unaddressed emotional burdens, which may impair academic performance and psychosocial well-being. This community service project aimed to conduct early detection of academic burnout and related psychological symptoms—stress, anxiety, and depression—among high school students in the Citra Raya area using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales for Youth (DASS-Y). A total of 145 students participated in the screening using the 21-item DASS-Y questionnaire. The screening process was conducted collectively in the school setting, facilitated by the project team and school counselors. The results revealed that 15.2% of students experienced stress, 26.9% anxiety, and 24.8% showed depressive symptoms, ranging from mild to extremely severe levels—all of which are key indicators of academic burnout. Although the majority of students fell within the normal range, the presence of early psychological symptoms in a considerable proportion highlights the need for prompt intervention. In conclusion, periodic psychological screening using DASS-Y is essential for the early identification and management of academic burnout in adolescents, supported by sustained psychoeducational programs and professional counseling services.

Abstract

Hypertriglyceridemia is an increase in triglyceride (TG) levels in the blood above normal limits, which is often associated with metabolic diseases. High triglyceride levels can disrupt lipid metabolism, causing an increase in atherogenic lipoproteins. This can increase the risk of diseases, such as atherosclerosis and acute pancreatitis. The community service program (PKM) in Grogol was implemented with the aim of increasing awareness of the productive age community regarding the importance of early detection of dyslipidemia through lipid profile screening activities, especially blood triglyceride levels. The target of the activity is productive age people because they are more exposed to the risk factors for hypertriglyceridemia. This activity uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach which includes lipid profile examinations and interactive education about risk factors and prevention strategies for hypertriglyceridemia. Of the 71 participants, it was found that 47 people (66.2%) had triglyceride levels that exceeded the normal threshold, while 24 people (33.8%) had levels within the normal range. These results emphasize the importance of routine examinations and ongoing counseling to reduce the risk of cardiometabolic complications and improve the overall quality of life of the community.
