Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of human resource competency and internal control systems on organizational performance in the Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) of Central Maluku Regency. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 40 respondents, who were civil servants in the OPD of Central Maluku Regency. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis with hypothesis testing using the t-test. The results showed that human resource competency did not significantly influence organizational performance, therefore the first hypothesis was rejected. This finding indicates that individual civil servant competency does not necessarily translate directly into improved organizational performance, which is suspected to be influenced by structural factors such as inefficient work processes, a suboptimal performance evaluation system, and limited work facilities. Conversely, the internal control system proved to have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance, therefore the second hypothesis was accepted. This indicates that the implementation of an effective internal control system, which encompasses the control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication, and monitoring, can improve OPD performance

Abstract

This study examined the development and implementation of clay-based experimental media to support early childhood science learning on the theme of the universe. Although early science education has received increasing attention, young children often struggle to understand abstract astronomical concepts because they lack access to tangible, developmentally appropriate learning materials. This study addressed this issue through the integration of art-based, hands-on inquiry activities that emphasize sensory exploration as a basis for conceptual understanding. A descriptive qualitative design was conducted in an early childhood education setting in Makassar, Indonesia, involving seventeen informants consisting of two early childhood teachers, ten children aged five to six years, and five parents. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The research focused on the process of designing and applying clay-based models of the sun, Earth, moon, and stars to simulate day and night through guided experimentation in a play-based learning environment. The findings indicate that children engaged with concrete representations of astronomical phenomena, demonstrated sustained participation in learning activities, and expressed emerging explanations of light, darkness, and Earth’s rotation. The learning process was also characterized by increased teacher–child interaction during inquiry-oriented discussions. Supporting factors included teacher creativity, the accessibility of low-cost materials, and children’s interest in manipulative activities, while constraining factors involved limited instructional time and variation in teachers’ prior experience with arts-integrated science learning. This study contributes to broader debates on early childhood science education by illustrating how low-cost, tactile learning materials mediate children’s engagement with abstract scientific concepts across early learning contexts in resource-limited educational settings.

Abstract

This research explores how professional skepticism, time pressure, and competence influence auditors’ effectiveness in detecting fraud, with experience functioning as a moderating variable. The study targeted 119 auditors from the Inspectorate Office in the Luwu Raya region, from which 104 were selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Hypothesis testing was conducted through Multiple Regression Analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results indicate that both professional skepticism and competence positively and significantly impact auditors’ fraud detection capabilities. Conversely, time pressure does not exhibit a significant effect. Furthermore, experience moderates the relationships between professional skepticism, time pressure, and competence with fraud detection ability, acting as a strengthening factor. This suggests that auditors with greater experience are better positioned to apply their skepticism, manage time-related challenges, and utilize their competence effectively in uncovering fraud. The study contributes to the existing literature by presenting a framework that highlights the interrelation of these factors in fraud detection, while also supporting attribution theory by emphasizing the role of professional traits and experience in enhancing audit performance

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a major public health problem among older adults and a leading contributor to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) has been recognized as a key preventive strategy for reducing lifestyle-related risk factors associated with hypertension, including unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and poor health monitoring. Purpose: To determine the relationship between clean and healthy living behavior and the incidence of hypertension among elderly individuals at Maccini Sawah Health Center and Tamangapa Health Center. Method: A quantitative analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The study involved 98 elderly respondents recruited from Maccini Sawah Health Center (n=50) and Tamangapa Health Center (n=48). Clean and healthy living behavior status was assessed using a validated 12-item questionnaire, while hypertension was identified through medical records and direct blood pressure measurements. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: The majority of respondents in both locations showed low levels of clean and healthy living behavior (63.3% overall). The prevalence of hypertension was 62.00% at the Maccini Sawah Community Health Center and 64.58% at the Tamangapa Community Health Center. Bivariate analysis showed that elderly individuals with low levels of clean and healthy living behavior had a significantly higher prevalence of hypertension (85.48%) compared to those with moderate (11.29%) and high (3.23%) levels. Statistical analysis revealed a highly significant association between clean and healthy living behavior and the incidence of hypertension (p=0.000). Conclusion: Clean and healthy living behaviors (Health-Based Drug Consumption Guidelines) are significantly associated with the incidence of hypertension among the elderly in Makassar City. Low adherence to clean and healthy living behaviors is a major risk factor, while moderate to high adherence is correlated with a lower prevalence of hypertension. Strengthening health promotion programs focused on clean and healthy living behaviors in primary healthcare settings is crucial to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease and improve health outcomes for the elderly.
