Abstract

The background of this research is that there are many trade banners in Pekanbaru City that have implied meanings in them. Merchants use implicature in their banners to make the banners more different and interesting for the readers. However, the use of this implicature often violates the principle of maxim of cooperation, which is not conveyed by the implied message between the speaker and the speech partner in the speech on the trade banner. The trade banners have directive implicature functions that contain persuasion, invitation, order and request. This research focuses on the function of directive implicature in trade banners in Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this research is to identify and explain the function of the directive implicature found in banners in Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted in 12 sub-districts in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. This research lasted for 3 months, starting from June-August 2022. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative research. This data was obtained by taking data using image capture. The data are in the form of sentences contained in banners that have implications. The techniques used in analyzing the data are, (1) Identifying, (2) Classifying, (3) Analysing Data, (4) Presenting, (5) Concluding. Based on the results of the research on implicature in trade banners in Pekanbaru city, there are directive implicature functions intended to instruct, intended to request, intended to persuade, and intended to instruct. The findings of this research are, the function of directive implicature means invitation is the most data, which is 30 data.

Abstract

This research seeks to investigate Jang Ja-yeon's suicide note. The focus of this research is the suicide letter written by Jang Ja-yeon. This study employs a descriptive a qualitative approach. The data collecting technique used is to use the procedure of observing, recording and analyzing it using the equivalent method with the sorting process and then describing it. The data source in this research is Tribun News. The data in this study is Jang Ja-yeon's suicide note. The results in this study are to show that the letters are not relevant with Jang Ja Yeon's real handwritings. Grammatical errors go hand in hand with those written by Jun in her personal letters. Jang Ja Yeon's death case will also be investigated again.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the study of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) about the transitivity process system and the state of the news text situation. The source of data in this study is the news text in the Indonesian textbook published in 2021 at the junior high school /MTs class VII level. Data collection is carried out by reading and recording. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Based on the findings and analysis of the study, several conclusions can be made. First, researchers found transitivity consists of five types of processes, namely material processes, mental processes, relational processes, verbal processes, and existential processes. Second, participants consist of recipients or clients. Third, circumcision consists of range, location, way, cause, environment, problem, role, inclusion, view. Fourth, the context of the situation consists of the terrain of discourse, the involvement of discourse, and the means of discourse.

Abstract

Language is a communication tool owned by humans to interact or collect. From a language humans can exchange information orally and in writing. The development of technology is growing in various countries, including Indonesia, resulting in the process of communication and exchanging information between people from various regions and parts of the world. A speaker must use courteous or good language when communicating through mass media for speech partners who are intended recipients of the message to be able to interpret and comprehend the message. This study aims to describe the utterances of social media users in the Anies Rasyid Baswedan Instagram comment column, which allegedly contain the principle of language politeness. This is a type of qualitative descriptive research. The method used in this study is data analysis, according to Miles and Huberman, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing or verifying conclusions. The results of this study found that there were 16 maxims of wisdom, 20 maxims of generosity, 13 maxims of appreciation, 10 maxims of moderation, 18 maxims of consensus, and ten maxims of sympathy.

Abstract

Banyaknya jumlah kafe yang ada di kota Medan khususnya di kawasan pemancingan membuat sebagian orang kesulitan untuk memilih kafe dengan kenyamanan yang baik untuk menghabiskan waktu bersama teman dan keluarga, baik itu untuk mengerjakan tugas maupun menghabiskan waktu bersama orang tersayang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membantu pengunjung khususnya di area pemancingan yang kesulitan menemukan kafe terfavorit dengan kriteria dan bobot tertentu dengan melakukan observasi langsung di lapangan. Pada penelitian ini mengembangkan sistem pendukung keputusan yang menerapkan metode Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) untuk menentukan kafe favorit di area pemancingan, dari hasil wawancara dengan beberapa pengunjung dan pihak terkait, dengan ini peneliti memperoleh beberapa dari data yang akan dibutuhkan seperti, kriteria dan bobot serta alternatif apa yang digunakan melalui penilaian dalam penelitian, sedangkan kriteria dan bobot yang digunakan sudah ditentukan sesuai dengan selera pengunjung, seperti kualitas pelayanan, harga, fasilitas, suasana, dan kepuasan pelanggan serta 25 alternatif yang akan dipertimbangkan dalam pemilihan kafe favorit di area pemancingan. Hasil pemeringkatan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah kafe Labasta dengan skor tertinggi yaitu 16.00 dipilih dan juga direkomendasikan sebagai kafe terfavorit di kawasan pemancingan. Sehingga penelitian ini dapat membantu menyelesaikan permasalahan di daerah pemancingan dengan menghasilkan keputusan penentuan kafe favorit melalui sistem pendukung keputusan dengan metode SMART.

Abstract

Animal welfare-based training on livestock handling techniques during sacrificial animal slaughtering is a crucial effort to reduce stress levels and bruising in cattle carcasses post-slaughter. This training, conducted at Al-Ma'ruf Mosque in Samarinda Ulu District, Samarinda City, involved 40 sacrificial animal handlers (stockmen) from various local mosques and prayer rooms. Participants were trained using the Rope Squeeze and Burley methods to enhance technical skills in livestock handling, particularly in reducing the risk of animal injury and work-related accidents. The training results demonstrated increased participants' understanding of livestock behavior and psychology and the application of the flight zone concept, contributing to safer and more effective livestock handling. The evaluation indicated the training's success in reducing livestock injuries and improving meat quality. Additionally, the training positively impacted the sacrificial animal slaughtering practices in the local area.

Information technology has developed very rapidly and covers various fields. The education sector is one area that is influenced by information technology. Both in the formal learning process at school and non-formal in the form of training outside of school. The form of participation from universities, especially the Computer Science study program FST UIN North Sumatra Medan in this community service activity is providing skills training in the field of Augmented Reality to create learning media for teachers at the Mamiyai Al-Ittihadiyah Medan College Foundation. The activity was held with the theme "Workshop on Making Teaching Media Based on Augmented Reality.

Abstract

As a cultured human being, it certainly requires communication, as for the communication that is established, namely intercultural communication. Singkil sub-district has a variety of ethnic groups, languages and different cultures, the tribes in the area are Javanese, Acehnese, Singkil tribe, Jamee / Minang tribe and Nias tribe. The object of research is the Singkil tribe and the Jamee / Minang tribe, because among the tribes in Singkil District the most dominant are the two tribes, so that the differences of opinion between the two. Therefore, this research was conducted to examine how Acculturation, Assimilation and also Enculturation exist in these two tribes, especially in Singkil District, and what are the problems or problems between the two tribes. The type of research used is qualitative research, the data collection techniques used are: observation in the field, interviews, and documentation, the respondents are the people of the two tribes in Singkil District. The results of this study prove that the Minang people find it difficult to understand the language of the Singkil tribe so that there are differences of opinion and perception between the two.

Abstract

Research on the influence of product design, product quality and brand awareness on purchasing decisions for Grand Batam Mall Starbuck’s product is an experiment based on the researcher’s  experience and other Starbucks consumers which refers to the influence of design, quality and brand awareness of Starbucks products. This research aims to describe the influence of product design, product quality, and product brand awareness on a decision to purchase Starbuck’s product. This research uses quantitative research methods with the treatment of determining the population and samples that will be collected through distributing questionnaires. There is a total sample of 100 using the Lemeshow formula and it is determined that product design has a positive influence on buyer decisions (t count 2.927 > t table 1.985 and Sig. 0.004 < 0.05), product quality has a positive influence on buyer decisions (t count 4.675 > t table 1.985 and Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), and brand awareness has a positive influence on buyer decisions (t count 3.719 > t table 1.985 and Sig. 0.002 < 0.05). So it can be concluded that the design, quality and brand awareness of the product really influence the decision results of Grand Batam Mall Starbucks consumers.

Abstract

Lighting from lamps plays an important role, but manually controlling lamps often makes users forget to turn off the lights when leaving home. This research introduces smartlamp, which is a lamp integrated with IoT system. In this research, smartlamp is designed to provide automatic control by recognizing the habit data of home occupants using the C5.0 Algorithm method. This system focuses on recognizing data on the habits of home residents using the C5.0 Algorithm method with the use of 864 training data conducted for 20 days and 48 testing data for 2 days resulting in system implementation with an accuracy of 98.61%, recall 98.47%, precision 98.47%, and an error rate of 1.39%. The results of this study show the ability of the C5.0 Algorithm method to recognize user habit data. Suggestions for further research are to build a system that uses a bluetooth connection so that it can be used when there is no internet network and add several sensors to measure the level of efficiency of power usage at home
