Abstract

Studi Islam sebagai disiplin keilmuan berkembang melalui beragam pendekatan yang digunakan untuk memahami teks, doktrin, dan realitas keberagamaan umat Islam. Dua pendekatan yang sering dipertentangkan adalah pendekatan normatif-teologis dan pendekatan keilmuan tasawuf-spiritualitas. Permasalahan utama penelitian ini adalah adanya ketegangan epistemologis dan metodologis antara kedua pendekatan tersebut, yang kerap melahirkan sikap keagamaan yang eksklusif atau, sebaliknya, spiritualitas yang lepas dari kerangka normatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara kritis karakteristik, keunggulan, dan keterbatasan kedua pendekatan, serta mengkaji kemungkinan integrasi keduanya dalam kerangka studi Islam kontemporer. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka (library research) dengan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif dan analisis kritis terhadap literatur klasik dan kontemporer yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan normatif-teologis memiliki kekuatan dalam menjaga ortodoksi, kepastian hukum, dan identitas keagamaan, namun cenderung formalistik dan kurang menyentuh dimensi batin. Sementara itu, pendekatan tasawuf-spiritualitas menawarkan kedalaman makna, transformasi moral, dan ketenangan batin, tetapi rentan terhadap subjektivitas dan penyimpangan jika tidak dikendalikan oleh syariat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kedua pendekatan tersebut bersifat komplementer dan tidak seharusnya dipertentangkan. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah pentingnya pengembangan paradigma integratif dalam studi Islam yang memadukan keteguhan normatif dengan kedalaman spiritual guna merespons tantangan keagamaan dan kemanusiaan di era modern.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the specific difficulties experienced by Grade X students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu in writing descriptive texts in English. More specifically, the study seeks to examine students’ understanding of the generic structure of descriptive texts, their use of vocabulary, and their application of grammatical rules in writing. A qualitative descriptive research design was employed to provide a detailed picture of students’ writing problems based on their own responses. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to Grade X students who had learned descriptive text writing in their English classes. The findings reveal that students face several challenges when writing descriptive texts. Many students had difficulty distinguishing between the identification and description parts of the text, which often resulted in unclear or incomplete descriptions. Students also reported limited vocabulary, making it difficult for them to express ideas clearly and vary their word choices. In addition, grammatical problems, particularly in the use of tenses and sentence structure, were frequently identified as major obstacles in their writing. These results are consistent with previous studies that report similar difficulties among EFL learners in writing descriptive texts. Limited mastery of vocabulary, grammar, and text organization has been widely recognized as a key factor affecting students’ writing performance. The findings suggest that students need more structured guidance and practice to develop these skills. Therefore, this study recommends that English teachers provide focused instruction and targeted training to help students better understand text structure, expand their vocabulary, and improve grammatical accuracy in descriptive writing.

Abstract

Students of the Muhammadiyah University of Kuningan's Community Service Program (KKN) conducted a community service activity called the MADINA Program (Advancing in Faith and Children's Knowledge) in Kertayasa Village, Panawangan District, Ciamis Regency. Through Islamic religious education implemented consistently, participatory, and contextually, this program aims to improve the formation of children's morals. Three Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (DTA) institutions served as research locations, and a qualitative approach was used to collect data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The Miles & Huberman model was used to conduct data analysis, which included presentation, verification, reduction, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the MADINA program not only teaches the Quran, but also teaches Islamic behavior such as discipline, politeness, and what children should do in everyday life. Success in creating a religious and enjoyable learning environment depends on the active involvement of parents, DTA teachers, and the community. The MADINA program offers scientific developments in a religious community-based service model that integrates faith and character education through sustainable and participatory learning activities at the village level.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the perceptions of students at SMAN 5 Palu regarding the impact of using song lyrics to improve English reading comprehension. This study focuses on the role of song lyrics in increasing reading motivation and the challenges faced by students in their use. Although reading comprehension is an essential skill, international assessment results such as PISA show that Indonesian students' reading literacy is still below the global average, causing students to often feel bored and have difficulty understanding conventional texts. This study used a descriptive qualitative design with 25 students from class X Merdeka 1 of SMAN 5 Palu selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through open questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results showed that students had positive perceptions of the use of song lyrics. Song lyrics increase learning motivation through a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and help improve vocabulary, contextual meaning comprehension, and grasping main ideas. Challenges found include the use of slang, figurative meanings, fast pronunciation, and distractions for some students. This study concludes that song lyrics are effective authentic material in EFL reading learning.

Abstract

Al-Kindi merupakan tokoh sentral dalam tradisi filsafat Islam klasik yang dikenal dengan gelar Faylasūf al-‘Arab. Sebagai pelopor filsafat Islam abad ke-9 M, Al-Kindi berperan penting dalam mentransformasikan warisan filsafat Yunani ke dalam kerangka pemikiran Islam serta membangun fondasi epistemologi yang mengintegrasikan akal dan wahyu. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis konstruksi pemikiran Al-Kindi dan relevansinya terhadap pengembangan paradigma pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (library research) melalui penelaahan karya-karya Al-Kindi dan literatur terkait filsafat serta pendidikan Islam, yang dianalisis secara deskriptif-analitis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Al-Kindi berhasil mensintesiskan rasionalitas filsafat dengan prinsip tauhid secara harmonis. Ia menegaskan bahwa kebenaran bersumber dari Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, sehingga tidak terdapat pertentangan hakiki antara filsafat dan agama. Filsafat diposisikan sebagai instrumen intelektual untuk memahami kebenaran wahyu, sementara wahyu menjadi sumber kebenaran tertinggi yang membimbing akal. Dengan demikian, akal dipandang sebagai anugerah Ilahi yang berfungsi untuk menyingkap hakikat realitas, namun tetap berada dalam koridor nilai-nilai ketuhanan. Sintesis ini melahirkan paradigma keilmuan yang menempatkan ilmu agama dan ilmu rasional dalam satu kesatuan yang utuh dan saling melengkapi. Implikasi pemikiran Al-Kindi bagi pendidikan Islam sangat signifikan, terutama dalam merumuskan sistem pendidikan yang menyeimbangkan dimensi intelektual, spiritual, dan moral. Pendidikan tidak hanya berorientasi pada transfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga pada pembentukan akhlak dan kesadaran tauhid peserta didik. Integrasi akal dan wahyu dalam pemikirannya menjadi landasan bagi pengembangan pendidikan Islam yang holistik, integratif, dan transformatif. Oleh karena itu, pemikiran Al-Kindi tetap relevan sebagai fondasi epistemologis dalam membangun paradigma pendidikan Islam yang berorientasi pada pembentukan insan beriman, berilmu, dan berakhlak mulia.

Abstract

This study examines students' motivation to use TikTok as a language-learning medium and explores how the quality of TikTok content influences their motivation to learn English. The focus is on intrinsic motivations such as enjoyment, curiosity, and personal interest, as well as extrinsic motivations such as academic goals, career preparation, and social recognition. A qualitative research design was chosen, comprising interviews with three students in the English Language Teaching program at Tadulako University. The results showed that the participants used TikTok because of its short, engaging, and interactive video format, which made learning more entertaining and less formal. Intrinsically, they experienced increased interest and satisfaction when engaging with creative English content. Extrinsically, they were motivated by the desire to improve their language skills, achieve academic success, and prepare for a future career as an English teacher. Furthermore, the findings indicated that the quality of TikTok content significantly influenced students' motivation. Clear, concise, and well-structured learning content promotes understanding and confidence, while content that was overly entertainment-oriented or unclear can reduce learning effectiveness. Overall, the study concluded that TikTok could serve as a supportive learning medium when students intentionally selected high-quality educational content to support their language learning goals.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a valid tahsin activity model using digital media and differentiated learning. Based on preliminary observation, there are three problems were identified, first, the challenge of implementing classroom management creates a need for differentiated learning. Second, achievement in tahsin that is not yet optimal requires a learning media that can be used repeatedly. Third, madrasas are working to develop the digitalization of extracurricular activities. This was a research and development using the R2D2 development model (Recursive, Reflective Design, and Development). The product of differentiated tahsin digital model was developed using tarteel application through play store. Data sources were observation, interview, validity and practicality sheets. The research setting was MTsN 7 Lima puluh Kota district. The population of this study was grade VII students in 2022/2023 academic year. The research was conducted from February 2023 until February 2024. Data analysis showed that the validity of language aspect was highly valid (0.79) and the validity of content aspect was highly valid (0.84).

Abstract

This study was motivated by the important role of madrasa principals as innovators in improving the quality and competitiveness of Islamic educational institutions amid rapid educational changes. Madrasa principals are not only responsible for managerial functions but are also expected to create innovations relevant to contemporary educational needs. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation at MTsN 2 Deli Serdang. The research subjects consisted of the madrasa principal and teachers. The findings revealed that innovations had been implemented comprehensively in religious programs, academic development, teacher professionalism, learning technology, and extracurricular activities. These innovations were supported by participatory leadership, strong collaboration among school members, and adequate facilities, although several obstacles were found, particularly related to the technological competence of some teachers. Overall, these innovations positively influenced the quality of learning, teacher professionalism, student motivation, the strengthening of Islamic character, and the overall quality of the institution.
