Abstract

The low literacy skills of elementary school students remain a fundamental problem in learning. One effort that can be made to overcome this problem is to apply the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This study aims to: (1) describe the application of the CTL learning model in improving the reading and writing literacy skills of elementary school students, and (2) identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in the application of the CTL learning model. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data were obtained through the collection and analysis of various relevant literature sources, such as books, journal articles, previous research results, and other supporting documents related to CTL learning and reading and writing literacy in elementary schools. The results of this study indicate that CTL learning can improve students' reading and writing literacy skills through the relevance of learning materials to real-life contexts, meaningful learning activities, and active student involvement in the learning process. The supporting factors for the implementation of CTL are teacher readiness, availability of learning resources, and a conducive learning environment, while the inhibiting factors are time constraints, low teacher understanding of the CTL learning concept, and a lack of supporting facilities. Thus, the CTL learning model has the potential to be an effective alternative in improving the reading and writing literacy skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

Background. The role of public relations is at the forefront of an agency/organization to optimize and manage all forms of activities to create, build, improve, maintain the image and publish all forms of information to the public, as well as establishing cooperation with both internal and external media and all the public so that it can helps facilitate the process of good public relations work in providing information to the public. Because the public and media are supporting tools that encourage public relations work programs. Purpose. This research aims to analyze how internal media is used by organizations in maintaining effective communication with employees, management and other internal stakeholders. Method. The research method we use in writing this article is a literature review or approach used in research to identify, evaluate and synthesize literature from sources (books, sources and articles). Results. The results of this research show that the role of public relations is to increase the positive image of higher education institutions in the eyes of the public, to establish cooperation with internal and external media, as well as the role of bridging all forms of information, both academic and non-academic. The public relations work program includes all campus events or activities related to departments, faculties, or university level to be made into news that is published to the public using internal and external media. Conclusion. Internal media is media owned by an organization or company that is used by public relations to convey messages to the internal public. External media in public relations are public relations activities directed at audiences outside the Company, such as the public, agents, consumers, government and mass media. The purpose of internal and external public relations media is to communicate information and increase awareness and understanding between internal and external parties of the organization.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian in elementary schools or madrasah ibtidaiyah requires an effective approach to comprehensively assess students’ abilities. One method that can be applied is authentic assessment, which emphasizes evaluation based on real-world contexts and students’ practical skills. Authentic assessment is becoming increasingly relevant in the context of Indonesian language learning. The Merdeka Curriculum encourages a more flexible and contextual approach, so authentic assessment can play a significant role in enhancing students’ understanding. The objective of this study is to identify authentic assessment strategies to improve Indonesian language learning in elementary schools/madrasah ibtidaiyah. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach employing library research. The results of the study indicate that authentic assessment has great potential to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. Realistic and contextual implementation encourages students to think critically and creatively. Support from various parties is needed so that authentic assessment can be implemented effectively and bring about positive changes in education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The implementation of Hajj and Umrah rituals requires professional guidance due to the procedural complexity of manasik and the increasingly diverse socio-demographic backgrounds of Indonesian pilgrims. This community service project therefore aims to strengthen the professional capacity of prospective mutawifs among East Java youth representatives through a structured and participatory training model. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, engaging participants as active collaborators in needs assessment, training design, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through pre- and post-training assessments, observation during manasik simulations, reflective discussions, and performance evaluations. The findings indicate a significant improvement in participants’ mastery of fiqh al-manasik and ritual procedures. Participants also demonstrated enhanced communication competence in guiding elderly pilgrims and managing group dynamics. Conflict resolution and crisis-response skills improved through scenario-based simulations. Moreover, the training strengthened ethical awareness, service orientation, and spiritual responsibility as mutawifs. Participants reported increased self-confidence and readiness to serve in real pilgrimage contexts. This program contributes a replicable youth-based mutawif capacity-building model that integrates technical, interpersonal, and spiritual competencies. It is recommended that religious institutions and Hajj service providers adopt sustainable, competency-based training frameworks to prepare future professional mutawifs.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the head of administration's strategy in improving the performance of educational staff. Even though the role of administrative staff has been widely studied, there are still gaps regarding the strategy of heads of administration in facing real challenges in madrasas, especially in the context of changing administrative needs and digitalization. This research uses a qualitative phenomenological approach through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions, with validity testing using triangulation and member checking. The research results show that the strategy of the head of administration includes performance planning, division of tasks according to skills, regular coaching and training, as well as periodic evaluations which contribute to increasing the discipline, effectiveness and professionalism of educational staff. Key challenges include the resistance of some staff to job rotation and limited external training. The solutions taken include routine coaching, personal motivation, open communication, and collaboration with external institutions in organizing training. The implication is that this strategy can be adapted by educational administration managers through strengthening organizational communication and external collaboration in order to improve the performance of educational staff in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Speaking skills are basic skills that are important to develop early on because they play a major role in the communication process, academic success, and social development of students. However, teaching speaking skills at the elementary school level is still less than optimal and tends to be monotonous. This article discusses innovative approaches in teaching speaking skills in elementary schools, such as aesthetic speaking, conversation, purposeful speaking, and drama activities. Through a literature review, it was found that the application of creative learning strategies can increase students' active participation, self-confidence, and verbal expression skills. Teachers act as facilitators in creating a fun, interactive, and communicative learning atmosphere. Innovation in teaching speaking skills is a strategic step in strengthening students' communication competencies as a whole.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in Indonesia is one of the challenges the government must solve. The ability to think critically about caring for the environment and disaster response is a significant issue. Students must master it because it will impact various aspects of life, such as social attitudes and religious tolerance. One solution is to provide the material using the innovative learning media, FlipBuilder. This study aims to determine the influence of critical thinking on social attitudes, assess the impact of essential thinking skills on religious tolerance attitudes, and find out the influence of critical thinking skills on students' religious tolerance attitudes when using flipbuilder learning media with the theme of environmental care and disaster response based on Islamic values. The research was conducted through a quantitative approach with an associative research design. The research was conducted on grade VII students of MTsN 1 Tulungagung. Data analysis was carried out using inferential statistics. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant influence between critical thinking skills and social attitudes, there was a positive and significant influence between essential skills of thinking and religious tolerance attitudes, and there was a significant relationship between social attitude variables and students' religious tolerance attitudes.

Abstract

Background: Startup entrepreneurs are entrepreneurs who are just starting a business. Startup entrepreneurs need a good understanding of digital technology to manage and market their products. Having good digital literacy is a necessity for running a business in the digital age. Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this community service is to provide digital understanding to 35 entrepreneurs who are member of the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Association of Tulungagung Regency and the Business and Technology Incubator of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. Methods: The method used in this service program is to use Participatory Action Research combined with technical training (experience learning). Results: The results of the training and mentoring showed a 13.33% increase in digital literacy understanding. All 35 participants successfully created promotional brochures, despite differences in time and trial success. Participants' satisfaction with the training and mentoring program was satisfactory. The assessment of the impact of the training and mentoring on participants' businesses fell into the "sufficient" category, indicating that participants were beginning to feel the benefits of the program, but the impact was not yet optimal.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning interest and motivation of students, which was reflected in minimal active participation and lack of attention to teacher explanations, affecting their understanding of the material and achievement of the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). The study aimed to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL)-based learning module that is valid and effective. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall model, modified into seven stages: data collection, planning, product development, design validation, product revision, small-scale trial, and large-scale trial. The research subjects consisted of 31 fourth-grade students of SDN Merjosari 3. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the module was highly valid (media 96%, material 84%, language 84%). The small-scale trial indicated effectiveness of 88% with a teacher response rate of 96%, while the large-scale trial reached 90% effectiveness with a teacher response rate of 98%. The average learning outcome score of 87.84 indicated an improvement in students’ understanding. The module is considered feasible for use as it supports active, contextual, and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive PowerPoint-based learning media for Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS)  at  third-grade elementary school and to examine its validity and effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using a simplified Borg and Gall model. The subjects of this study were 29 third-grade students of SDN Merjosari 1 Malang. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The results showed that the developed media achieved a high level of validity, with material expert validation at 93%, media expert at 96%, and language expert at 80%, categorized as valid to highly valid. The trial results indicated that the teacher response reached 94% (very good category), while student responses reached 80% (good category). Furthermore, the implementation of the interactive PowerPoint-based media effectively improved students’ learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in posttest scores compared to pretest scores. In addition, the media enhanced students’ motivation, engagement, and participation in the learning process. In conclusion, the developed interactive PowerPoint-based learning media is valid, effective, and feasible for use in IPAS learning at the elementary school level.
