Abstract

In the world of education only glorify intelligence alone, there will be a crisis of national character values. With changes in the educational curriculum, character values can be instilled in learning in schools. This study aims to describe the character values of students in science learning in pesantren-based schools. In this article, the research researcher applies a qualitative descriptive method by means of observation and interviews. Based on the data obtained in this article, there is a significant change in character values in science learning at the Islamic boarding school-based MTs Nurul Falah. In the 2013 curriculum character values with the Core curriculum (known with KI 1) about spiritual attitudes with religious character values and (KI 2) about social attitudes with seven-character values, namely, honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, courtesy, mutual cooperation and self-confidence. obtain positive changes, so that the cultivation of character values must always be applied in the social attitudes of students

Abstract

The development research carried out intends to develop an Archimedes Law Material E-Module on the Motion System to improve the understanding of the Learner's Concept. Product development uses the ADDIE model. Validation of material experts, media experts and testing the responses of teachers and students is a product trial design carried out. The validation of the material and the E-module media was carried out by five peer reviewers, the teacher response questionnaire was carried out by four teachers from several schools in Yogyakarta and Central Java. The E-Modul trial was tested on 25 class VIII students of SMPIT Bakti Insani with a quasi-experimental pretest posttest control group design. The results of the material expert validation data showed an average of 96.67% in the "very good" category, the media expert validation data showed an average of 96.83%, and the teacher's response results showed an average of 86.64% with the "very good". Trials were also conducted on students by obtaining an average presentation on each component aspect, namely according to the criteria, language, graphics and usability with an average proportion of e-modules of 82.03% with the criteria of "very good". The results of understanding the concept of students were carried out pretest posttest control group design with experimental and control classes. The results of the increase are quite effective with an average N-Gain of 62.9%. In addition, the acquisition of students who completed the Minimum Passing Criteria was 100 percent, while only 83.33% had completed the Minimum Passing Criteria in the control class. On the whole it can be guaranteed that the E-module is very feasible and effective enough to be applied in learning

Abstract

In the science learning process especially sound waves concept, experiments are needed that can help someone in gaining a meaningful learning and using technology. In this study, the aim is to analyze and compare the bird sound frequency assisted by Audacity software. The subjects used are three different bird sound (Murai Batu’s sound as the main subject while the Love Bird and Kenari’s sound as the compared subject). The implementation of this study uses several tools such as a microphone, Audacity software on a laptop and bird sounds. This experiment was carried out by bringing the microphone closer to the bird with 15 cm, so that the sound was captured by the microphone, then transferred to the laptop and read by the Audacity software. Furthermore, the data recorded in Audacity were analyzed. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that combination of bird sounds and audacity tools can be used in practicum, can read and capture bird sound waves effectively in analyzing and comparing the bird sound frequency and spectrum in the software. Thus, it tends to be utilized as one of the learning media in practicum on sound wave material at secondary school.

Abstract

Learning is now gradually recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with the start of limited face-to-face learning. This makes educators need to innovate so that students still have independent learning. Less than optimal online learning causes students to be too passive when learning offline. To overcome this, research was carried out through the development of science module based on flipbook about physics in the respiratory system. This study aims to determine the feasibility level of the module, to determine the responses of students, and to find out whether the module can increase students' independence in science learning. This study uses the Thiagarajan 4D (Four-D Model) development model, consisting of four stages, namely the definition stage, the design stage, and the development stage. The dissemination stage was not carried out, this research was only limited to product feasibility testing. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The sample in this study is class VIII A totaling 10 people. The collection technique used is a questionnaire and documentation. The results showed that: (1) science module based on flipbook was feasible, judging from the percentage of the feasibility of the module 96.73% (very feasible), (2) student responses to the module were in the very good category, seen from the percentage of interest in the module 90.00% (very interested), and the students' independence in learning science using flipbook-assisted science modules were included in the high category, with a percentage of 86.25% (high science learning independence).

Abstract

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and collaboration skills are critical for all students, starting from early to senior high school. This study aimed to describe HOTS and collaboration skills in online learning according to gender, type of school, and grade level. This research was descriptive quantitative by explaining and comparing the results of the questionnaires given to students. The respondent of this study was 331 students who were obtained randomly from junior and senior high school in Indonesia. The results showed students’ HOTS in online learning; the mean score of the students was 3.82 (moderate). While collaboration skills, the mean score of the students was 3.95 (moderate); collaboration skills domains are positively related to HOTS. According to gender, type of school, and education level, there was no significant difference between students’ HOTS and collaboration skills. Based on these findings, teachers can teach to maximize learning, even though it was online, to improve HOTS and collaboration skills in online learning. This can also influence the policies to be taken by higher education to equip prospective educators to adjust themselves in providing learning to students in different conditions and situations.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the development of instruments for science communication skills as part of 21st Century skills at the higher education level. The instrument was developed from indicators of communication skills, namely understanding the key ideas of other people's utterances and presenting or reading data in the form of tables or graphs. The development carried out with the Borg and Gall model produces valid and reliable instruments. The test subjects were 94 students who were selected by cluster sampling. The tests carried out included construct validation tests, empirical validation tests, and testing the use of instruments to measure science communication skills. The results of construct validation show that the instrument is considered very good and suitable for use. The results of empirical validation show that the instrument is valid and reliable so that it can be used. The trial results show that the instrument for the assessment of the results of this development can be used to measure science communication skills.

Abstract

Science learning is a learning process that emphasizes natural phenomena and their relationships. This development research aims to determine the feasibility of a flipbook-assisted practicum guide that has been made, and to determine students' learning motivation using flipbook media on measuring physics material which is associated with measuring ideal body weight. The instrument used was 20 students from SMP Negeri 5 Jombang Class VII F. The results obtained were validation of media experts and material experts with a summary of aspects obtained by an average of 84.25% with a very good category. For the validation of the student response questionnaire the average percentage of 89.75% in the very good category. And the results of the student learning motivation response questionnaire with 3 aspects of the assessment averaged 84.60% in the very good category, so this flipbook-based media can be used to increase the motivation of junior high school students in measuring practicum
