Abstract

Politeness is a communication strategy that involves both positive and negative face, aiming to prevent face-threatening acts and help individuals maintain each other’s social image. Communication that takes place in cyberspace has now become common and accepted by various groups of people, regardless of age, background, or social status. Through social media, individuals can not only communicate and exchange information, but also establish connections, interact with old friends, and find new friends from different across the globe. This study aims to identify types of politeness strategies and the most dominant types of politeness strategies used in the @nikizefanya account Twitter (X) platform. The study uses qualitative descriptive method. The findings reveal that there are six positive politeness strategy and two negative politeness strategies used in the @nikizefanya account Twitter (X) platform. The most dominant strategy is the fourth positive politeness strategy (Use in-group identity markers) with the percentage of usage reached 45,5%. This shows the strong tendency of users to build and emphasize group identity in their interactions. Meanwhile, from the category of negative politeness strategies, the first strategy (Be conventionally indirect) dominates with a much higher percentage of 89,4%. These findings show that the users’ comments in NIKIZEFANYA account use language or references that identify them as part of the same group as their audience, creating a sense of closeness and community. This research contributes to understanding how politeness functions as a tool to maintain harmonious communication and avoid conflict in social media context.

Abstract

Positioning risk tolerance as a mediating variable, this study investigates the extent to which overconfidence, optimism bias, and financial literacy shape stock trading frequency among Generation Z investors in Malang City. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design was employed, with purposive sampling used to select 100 respondents. Data were gathered through a questionnaire instrument and subsequently analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0 software via SEM-PLS method. The results indicate that overconfidence, optimism bias, and financial literacy all bear a positive and significant influence on risk tolerance. Interestingly, not one of these three variables was found to produce a direct effect on stock trading frequency. Risk tolerance was demonstrated to serve as a full mediator in the relationship between the independent and dependent variables, while at the same time yielding a significant positive effect on trading frequency. These findings point to the conclusion that the trading behavior of Generation Z investors in Malang City is governed far more by their individual level of risk tolerance than by psychological or cognitive factors operating in isolation.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing global concern over environmental sustainability and its implications for corporate performance, particularly in carbon-intensive sectors such as energy. As stakeholders demand greater transparency and accountability, companies are expected to manage carbon emissions and adopt green innovation to enhance their value. This research aims to examine the effect of carbon emissions and green innovation on firm value, with additional consideration of carbon emission disclosure and media exposure. The study employs an associative quantitative approach using secondary data from 83 energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2019–2023 period. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using panel data regression, along with model selection tests, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination, supported by EViews 12 software. The empirical results show that carbon emission disclosure does not have a significant effect on firm value. Similarly, green innovation is found to have no significant effect on firm value. Furthermore, the results of the F-test indicate that carbon emission disclosure and green innovation simultaneously do not have a significant effect on firm value. In addition, the coefficient of determination shows a very low explanatory power of the independent variables on firm value. These findings suggest that firm value in the energy sector is more strongly influenced by other factors outside the model, highlighting the need for further research to include additional variables that may better explain firm value dynamics.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of green banking in Islamic banking in Indonesia and Malaysia based on the maqasid shariah framework. Method – This study is a quantitative study. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, resulting in a sample size of 21 banks, comprising 11 Indonesian Islamic banks and 10 Malaysian Islamic banks. The data source used is secondary data in the form of annual financial reports of Islamic banks from 2022 to 2024. The data analysis technique uses the Maqashid Syariah Index approach and the Simple Additive Weighting method. The difference in performance between the two countries is tested with an independent sample T-Test using SPSS analysis tools. Findings – The results of this study indicate that there is a significant difference between the green banking performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia and Malaysia based on the maqasid shariah index. Implications – This study can provide insights and contribute to the literature on green finance performance based on the maqasid sharia framework, particularly in the banking sector in Indonesia and Malaysia. This study can serve as a guide for Islamic banks in Indonesia and Malaysia to understand the extent to which green banking performance contributes to achieving sustainability and social welfare goals and provide recommendations for improving green finance.
