Abstract

The durability of concrete can be determined from mixing coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, cement, water, with or without additives. The properties of concrete can be influenced by several things, such as the ratio of the mix, how to mix, how to transport, how to print, and how to compact. To analyze the compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength of concrete submerged in sea water with variations in fineness modulus. The compressive strength results were 35.67Mpa, 31.63Mpa, 29.30Mpa respectively while the compressive strength of concrete with seawater immersion was 36.94Mpa, 36.52Mpa and 30.15Mpa. The split tensile strength results were 2.71Mpa, 2.65Mpa and 1.91MPa respectively, while the split tensile strength of concrete immersing in seawater with the same variations were 3.29MPa, 2.76MPa and 2.12MPa, respectively. The results of flexural strength were 4.22Mpa, 4.21Mpa, and 4.14MPa respectively, while the flexural strength of concrete with seawater immersion with the same variations were 4.27MPa, 4.22MPa, and 4.18MPa, respectively. The effect of fine grain modulus on compressive strength, split tensile strength and resulting flexural strength is very significant, the higher the fineness modulus of the coarse aggregate, the smaller the resulting value.

Abstract

Abstract

This research presents the design and implementation of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based environmental control system for optimizing the growth of Cabai Katokkon, a local chili variety from Toraja. The system integrates ESP32, pH sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, mist-based irrigation, and smart lighting (red and blue LEDs) to maintain optimal environmental conditions inside a greenhouse. Real-time monitoring and control are achieved through a mobile application, allowing remote management of temperature, humidity, soil pH, and lighting intensity. Over a four-month observation period, the system maintained soil pH within 5.3–6.5, temperature between 22–30°C, and humidity levels of 70–77%, all within optimal ranges for Cabai Katokkon growth. Automated misting and lighting systems responded effectively to sensor data, ensuring consistent environmental conditions. Results indicate that plants grown under this system showed improved growth rates, with increased stem height and diameter compared to traditional methods. This demonstrates that controlled environmental parameters significantly support photosynthesis and accelerate plant development. The system also proved efficient in reducing manual labor and minimizing human error. Overall, this IoT-based solution offers a modern, scalable approach to precision agriculture, especially in areas with limited natural light and space.

Abstract

Bipolar disorder is a chronic psychiatric condition marked by alternating episodes of mania, hypomania, and depression, often with psychotic features. Treatment resistance and adverse metabolic effects from long-term antipsychotic use pose significant challenges. This case report presents a 31-year-old male in Indonesia with bipolar disorder and metabolic comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. Initially treated with clozapine, the patient experienced metabolic decompensation, prompting an urgent switch to quetiapine. Post-switch, he exhibited improved mood stability and remission of psychotic symptoms, though residual depressive symptoms persisted. Lithium and sertraline were introduced to address these, with careful monitoring. The case highlights the importance of individualized switching strategies in bipolar disorder, particularly in patients with metabolic risks. Antipsychotic selection should consider both psychiatric efficacy and metabolic safety. Despite pharmacological improvement, functional recovery was incomplete, emphasizing the role of psychosocial interventions and culturally informed care. The integration of religious values and family support proved essential in this context. Although effective in symptom stabilization, the switch strategy remains limited by the lack of long-term follow-up and generalizability. This report underscores the need for structured protocols for antipsychotic switching and holistic treatment models, especially in resource-limited settings. Future research should explore integrative approaches that address both psychiatric and physical health dimensions, ensuring continuity of care beyond pharmacological intervention.
