Abstract

This study analyzes changes in built-up areas in Kabila District, Bone Bolango Regency, using the Normalized Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI) derived from Landsat 8 imagery from 2017, 2020, and 2023. Multitemporal satellite data were processed using ArcGIS to calculate NDBI values and map the spatial distribution of built-up land. NDBI values increased from 0.143 in 2017 to 0.132 in 2020, and continued to rise in 2023. Built-up areas expanded from 512.35 hectares (40.96%) in 2017 to 546.18 hectares (43.62%) in 2020, and reached 570.35 hectares (45.6%) in 2023. The expansion mainly occurred in the central and southern areas, indicating urban growth and land conversion from agricultural to residential use. This shift potentially contributes to higher surface temperatures and reduced thermal comfort. The study highlights the importance of spatial data in monitoring urban development and provides essential input for sustainable and adaptive spatial planning in response to increasing development pressures.

Abstract

Pain is a very common problem in pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. Pain, defined by the International Society For The Study Of Pain as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience arising from actual or potential tissue damage”, causes fear and anxiety that can increase stress and drastic physiological changes during pregnancy. A common problem experienced by pregnant women in the third trimester is lower back pain, with around 70% of women complaining of some form of lower back and back pain at some point during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. This is caused by the burden of the stomach and changes in the spine and ligaments. If not treated properly, this pain can reduce the quality of life of pregnant women. Therapies that can be given to mothers with lower back pain are Acupressure and ginger water compresses. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparative effectiveness of acupressure techniques with ginger water compresses as pain reduction techniques in overcoming complaints of back pain in pregnant women in the third trimester in the Cibeber Health Center work area. This study was a quasi-experiment with a post-test only design, statistical tests using one way ANOVA. Samples were taken by accidental sampling, with research subjects being pregnant women in the third trimester who visited PMB "K" and PMB "R" in November - December 2023. The results of the study at PMB in the Cibeber area showed that the average pain scale results in the acupressure group on days 2, 4 and 6 were 4.25; 2.35; 1.50 with a p value of 0.0001; while in the ginger water compress group on days 2, 4 and 6 were 4.15; 3.35; 2.50 with a p value of 0.006. In conclusion, there is a difference in the scale of lower back pain in mothers before and after being given a combination of Acupressure massage and ginger water compress therapy. This therapy is expected to be taught by health workers, especially midwives, to the patient's family so that it can be done independently, provide a strong psychological effect, and support a safe, smooth, and enjoyable delivery process. The output produced in this study is publication in a national journal with ISSN. Keywords: pain reduction; waist of pregnant women trimester III; acupressure; ginger water compress

Abstract

Abstract

Urban waste is a complex environmental issue, particularly in mid-sized cities like Gorontalo City, where the increase in generation is disproportionate to the capacity of management infrastructure. This study aims to analyze household waste management patterns and evaluate the distribution of waste infrastructure. A descriptive quantitative approach was used through a stratified sampling survey of 400 households in nine sub-districts. The results showed that 46.5% of respondents rely on Government Environmental Agency services, while 15% still burn waste and 6.3% dispose of it in rivers or vacant lots. Thirty-three percent of respondents assessed irregular collection, with service disparities clearly visible between central and outlying sub-districts. An analysis of infrastructure distribution revealed uneven distribution of recycling waste management units, with Kota Selatan sub-district lacking such facilities. Community suggestions emphasized the addition of fleets, segregated recycling waste management units, education, waste banks, and the use of digital technology. This study concluded that successful waste management is determined not only by technical aspects but also by regulations, institutions, education, and community participation.

Abstract

Vaginal delivery is often accompanied by anatomical changes in the perineum, one of which is perineal laceration, experienced by approximately 85% of women who give birth spontaneously. This laceration can affect the mother's recovery and quality of life during the postpartum period. Perineal massage can help prevent tears by increasing the elasticity of perineal tissue, preparing it for stretching during childbirth, and reducing the risk of tears. This study aims to provide comprehensive care using perineal massage techniques from pregnancy to prevent perineal lacerations. The method used is descriptive with a case study approach, data collection through interviews and physical examinations. The study subject was Mrs. "Y" G3P2A0, who received perineal massage from 36 weeks of pregnancy until childbirth. The results showed that perineal elasticity improved from the rigid category to the elastic category after regular perineal massage for 4 weeks prior to childbirth, with a frequency of 5 times per week. During childbirth, a contraction timer was used to monitor progress. During the postpartum period, mothers complained of sore nipples and were given breastfeeding techniques. Perineal massage had a significant effect in preventing perineal lacerations with a frequency of 5 times a week for 4 weeks before delivery. Perineal massage increased tissue elasticity, improved blood circulation, and trained relaxation during labor. Success is supported by the mother's compliance and proper massage technique. This care is expected to be applied to pregnant women up to the postpartum period.

Abstract

The West Sumatra - Riau toll road is expected to generate a favourable influence on the local economy, thereby enhancing the overall wellbeing of society. However, this progress does not eliminate some of the potential negative impacts, because the construction of toll roads will divert some of the public's transportation movements, thereby posing a threat to business activities along the diverted transportation routes. To anticipate these potential impacts, it is important to conduct a study that focuses on anticipating the potential socio-economic impacts of the construction of the West Sumatra – Riau toll road. A Focus Group Discussion was conducted with delegates from several Payakumbuh Municipal Government. A total of nineteen participants, comprising ten males and nine females, participated in the focus group discussion. The discussion remarks were methodically categorised and analysed. The study findings elucidate many potential ramifications of the construction of the West Sumatra - Riau toll road on Payakumbuh City, as well as proposed measures that might be implemented to mitigate these ramifications. The research findings can serve as a foundation for developing a regional development strategy for Payakumbuh City. The objective is to optimise the effects of toll road construction on the social and economic well-being of the community, ensuring equitable and balanced outcomes.
