Abstract

There is a scarcity of empirical studies that specifically examine the integration of Hypothetical Inquiry Learning (HIL) in e-modules to enhance students' critical thinking skills, particularly within the context of digital learning. This study aims to develop an e-module based on HIL to improve students' critical thinking abilities and the overall quality of learning in the digital era. The e-module is designed to facilitate students' understanding of complex concepts through an interactive Hypothetical Inquiry-based learning approach. The study employs a Research and Development (R&D) model based on Alessi and Trollip's framework, encompassing the Planning, Design, and Development stages. The study involved a population of 160 students, with a sample of 81 students from a senior high school in Sukoharjo regency, Central Java, Indonesia, and 5 validation experts, with validity assessed using the Aiken’s V index. The results of the practicality test demonstrated that the e-module based on HIL is highly practical for use as a digital learning tool, achieving a practicality score of approximately 98.32%. Furthermore, the effectiveness test revealed that the e-module significantly improves students' understanding of concepts and critical thinking skills, with an N-gain score of approximately 95.23%. Thus, the e-module based on Hypothetical Inquiry Learning represent an innovative and highly effective educational resource for enhancing student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Since the beginning of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has occurred, Indonesia has implemented distance learning. Higher education also conducts learning with a hybrid learning model. The hybrid learning model applied is of the full type, meaning that it is carried out fully online. Geography learning that is carried out online is still trying to equip students to increase spatial citizenship skills. This study seeks to find out how the challenges of implementing the hybrid learning model in geography learning in the geography education study program are FKIP UNS. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were second semester students, geography education study program FKIP UNS. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observations and FGD. The result of this research is that geography learning, which is carried out using a hybrid learning model, can effectively achieve mastery of students spatial citizenship skills. The hybrid learning model that is applied must be combined with other platforms such as Zoom Meeting, Moodle, WhatsApp and Open Course Ware.

Abstract

Penelitian ditujukan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pengembangan usaha masyarakat non produktif melalui UMKM berbasis bahan dasar bekatul. Kegiatan pengabdian yaitu pemberian materi tentang kandungan bekatul, cara pengolahan bekatul sebagai pakan ternak berkualitas dan makanan bergizi, pengemasan dan pemasaran produk. Jumlah peserta yang diikutsertakan dalam program ini yakni sebanyak 35 masyarakat dengan teknik pengumpulan data penelitian dengan cara: observasi potensi, wawancara, analisis data sekunder, dan dokumentasi. Metode kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dengan cara pemaparan materi oleh ahli, fact finding (analisis kebutuhan), discussion (diskusi antara pemateri), asking and answering (tanya jawab dan diskusi), dan recitation (resitasi atau pembagian tugas), practice and experiment (praktik dan eksperimen). Hasil kegiatan ini berupa temuan bahwa saat ini masyarakat memiliki pemahaman pengolahan bekatul terbatas pada produk olahan untuk pakan ternak. Kegiatan diskusi memberikan paradigma baru terhadap masyarakat untuk mengolah berbagai macam produk makanan berbahan bekatul. Pelatihan ini memberikan bekal kepada masyarakat untuk menganalisis produk berbahan bekatul untuk dikembangkan menjadi produk olahan makanan sehingga memiliki nilai jual yang lebih tinggi. Kegiatan pengabdian membekali masyarakat untuk memiliki pengetahuan dasar pengolahan makanan hingga ke tahap pemasaran sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat.

Abstract

Updates are not yet available for media learning based on electronic learning, which loads creative learning on biotechnology material and has an impact on boring lessons. Therefore, this study aims to: 1) Determine the validity of e-modules on biotechnology material to improve students' creative thinking skills; 2) determine the effectiveness of e-modules on the material to improve students' creative thinking skills; 3) determine the practicality of e-modules on the material to improve students' creative thinking skills. Development research e-modul with using google site on this biotechnology material using model procedures development of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) with a sample size of 95 students to test its effectiveness. The research results show that: 1) Products E- Module Biotechnology use google sites are very valid for improving students' creative thinking skills semester 3 Program Studies Education Biology with proven mark validity as big as 86.36% from media expert, 93.75% from the expert material, And 81.94% from the test try group scale small. 2) Product E- Module Biotechnology use google very sites effective For increase skills think creative student semester 3 Program Studies Biology Education is proven by the significance value of the Wilcoxon test of 0,000 in lower 0.05; 3) Products E- Module Biotechnology use google very sites practical For increase skills think creative student semester 3 Program Studies Biology Education with proven mark its practicality as big as 88.18% of the questionnaires were filled out by students in the group scale large. So, in general, the Google Site-based e-module product on biotechnology material is worthy of use and dissemination. Further research recommendations to be able to research Google Sites based E-Modules using different materials and variables.

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to examine the implementation of Science Integrated Learning Model in improving critical thinking skills of 11 Indonesian high school student in the excretion system and immune system. This research is a Class Action Research (CAR). Subjects were eleventh-grade students in the academic year of 2017/2018 consisted of 31 students, specifically 18 male students and 13 female students. The data was collected from students and teachers. Data collection techniques were conducted by observation, interview, and documentation study. The triangulation technique was used to verify the validity of the data. The data analysis technique employed was a qualitative descriptive analysis. The research procedure used an interrelated spiral CAR model. The experiment was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The result shows that students' critical thinking skills increased from 42.78% before research, become 54.92% in the first cycle, then 78.73% in the second cycle. It can be concluded that the implementation of the Science Integrated Learning Model can improve the critical thinking skills of 11 Indonesian high school students in the excretion system and immune system.

Abstract

The recent value integration of science and religion has become a topic of research in Indonesia, especially in developing critical-thinking skills and students’ personal religious belief. The purpose of this research is to see the results of the implementation of the DBUS (Discovery-Based Unity of Sciences) learning model analyzed in detail at each step of the learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with interactive analysis of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research sample was 101 students and two biology lecturers from UIN Walisongo Semarang, 94 students and two biology lecturers from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The results of the analysis of this research show that, by implementing the DBUS learning model, students learn constructively, meaningfully, and can apply each syntax in the learning process to develop critical-thinking skills and students’ personal religious beliefs. The DBUS learning model becomes a way to integrate the value of science and religion in developing students' abilities to learn constructively and meaningfully so they can develop critical-thinking skills and personal religious beliefs (PRB).

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to know the characteristics of ethnoscience learning in developing creativity and testing its effect on students' creativity. This type of research is a Quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 31-third year students from Physics Education study programs were chosen as the sample of the research through a purposive sampling technique. The data collection methods used were Torrance Test Creative Thinking, creativity questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and documentation. T-test with T-value test by LISREL 8.8 Second-order CFA application was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the ethnographic science learning model is a strategy for creating and designing a learning environment that integrates community culture through environmental studies. Based on the t-test, the indicator of creativity is 4.47, flexibility is 5.22, originality is 4.88, elaboration is 5.96, and redefinition is 6.24, with Ttable of 1,97. It means that ethnoscience learning is effective in increasing student creativity. It is recommended to reconstruct the original science into scientific science to preserve the culture of society which is a challenge in the era of industrial revolution 4.0.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the heat and temperature module based on the Guided-Inquiry Laboratory (GIL) model. The type of this research was a quasi-experimental research with a pretest-posttest control group design.  The samples were the seventh grade of one of junior high school in Kediri, as many as 60 students, with two classes: module as experiment class and existing class as control class. The module class was treated using a GIL-based module and existing class using modules commonly used at school. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling. The instrument used to collect data on scientific inquiry literacy was a multiple-choice test. This study found that there are statistically significant differences between the module and the existing class with an Effect Size (ES) of 0,413. The average score of scientific inquiry literacy N-Gains score calculation in the module class was higher by 0,68 compared to the existing class 0f 0,47. The result indicates that there is a medium impact of applying heat and temperature module to the indicator of scientific inquiry literacy. These findings contribute that employing the GIL-based heat and temperature module proved to be effective in the quality of science learning among module class students.

Abstract

Learning trends in the 21st-century require students to have the ability to sort appropriate information from certain sources. To do this, students must have critical thinking skills. One of the learning models that can facilitate students to think critically is a guided-inquiry lab. Thus, the purpose of this study was to quantitatively analyze the impact of the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model on students' critical thinking skills on mechanics material. A pre-experimental method employing one group pretest-posttest only design was applied to obtain students' critical thinking skills data before and after the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model. A total of 32 students from a junior high school in the city of Karanganyar, Central Java, were involved as the samples in this study. The data obtained were then analyzed using N-gain calculations. Based on the data analysis, there are 81.25% of students have medium creative thinking skills after being taught with a guided-inquiry lab, meaning there is an increase in the average score of students after being taught using a guided-inquiry lab model. It can be concluded that the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model is effective to improve students' critical thinking skills

Abstract

Literacy in the digital era has recently become an exciting topic in education policy, research, and practice because it is believed to be the foundation for dealing with life in the digital era. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of the literacy taxonomy guidebook in the digital era for high school biology teachers. The method used is the Research and Development (R&D) model ADDIE, which is limited to the Development stage. Data collection in this study used interview techniques and validation of literacy taxonomy guidebooks in the digital era for high school biology teachers by five validators using validation sheets and reliability tests using ICC. The validated aspects are material, presentation, language, and graphical aspects. This study found that the literacy taxonomy guidebook in the digital era for high school biology teachers received an Aiken validity value of 0.79 with a High Content Validity category, and the average reliability result using the ICC reliability formula was 0.947, with agreement between validators being on the Very Good criteria index. Thus, the literacy taxonomy guidebook in the digital era for high school biology teachers is suitable for teachers to implement literacy in the digital era in biology learning.
