Abstract

Self-directedness is a crucial skill for prospective science teachers, and the Think-Pair-Project-Share (TP2S) model has shown promise in fostering collaboration and critical thinking. This aim study to investigates the effectiveness of TP2S in promoting self-directed learning among these future educators. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the think-pair-project-share (TP2S) learning model in facilitating the self-directedness of prospective science teachers. This quantitative research uses a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were second semester students, while the research sample consisted of 72 students. The self-directedness data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a scale. Based on the results of the paired sample T test, it can be seen that both experimental classes obtained a Sig value. (2-tailed) 0.000. It can be concluded that the paired sample T test value in the experimental class is 0.000<0.05 so that there is a significant difference in results between the pretest and posttest scores (H0 is rejected). It can be concluded that there is a difference in self-directedness between students who study human and environmental subjects using the think pair project share model and those who use the conventional model. It is known that the application of the TP2S learning model has an effect on the self-directedness of prospective science teachers. The implications of this research support and strengthen the results of theoretical studies that the TP2S learning model is a student-centered learning model that utilizes the ability to manage learning strategies independently.

Abstract

Theoretical and less contextual biotechnology learning often hinders students' problem-solving skills. This research aims to develop and test the feasibility and practicality of an eco-enzyme production e-module with a SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, and Society) approach oriented toward problem-solving skills. Development followed the ADDIE model, but evaluation was limited to expert validation and practicality testing, without conducting a full experimental effectiveness test. The participants consisted of 3 science teachers and 64 ninth-grade students from a public junior high school in Baki District, Sukoharjo. Data were collected using a needs analysis questionnaire, expert validation sheets (for materials and media), user response questionnaires, and problem-solving skills instruments adapted from Polya and Santrock. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively to determine the feasibility and practicality percentages. Validity testing was conducted using item-total correlation, and reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Qualitative input from experts and users was analyzed descriptively for product improvement. The results show that the e-module is highly feasible, with scores of 91.1% from content experts and 86.9% from media experts. The practicality test was also very high, with 94.5% from teachers and 86.9% from students. These findings suggest that the e-module is both valid and practical, and is designed to enhance problem-solving skills in biotechnology learning.Abstrak. Abstract

Spirulina is a microalga with spiral or linear trichome shapes that has potential in industrial and food sectors due to its rich nutritional content. Spirulina can live in various aquatic habitats with different environmental conditions. Differences in cultivation environments can affect the morphological characteristics of Arthrospira due to phenotypic plasticity, making morphology-based identification prone to errors. Therefore, molecular identification using the 16S rRNA gene for phylogenetic analysis is necessary. This study aims to identify and analyze the genetic relationships of Spirulina from freshwater and brackish water based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. Freshwater Spirulina samples were taken from Bogor (BGR) and Yogyakarta (MRP), while brackish water Spirulina was taken from Jepara (JPR). DNA extraction was performed using the Zymo Research Quick-DNA Fungal/Bacterial Miniprep Kit, amplification of the 16S rRNA gene was conducted through PCR, followed by DNA sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis was carried out using MEGA11 to construct the phylogenetic tree. The morphology of strains BGR and MRP showed straight and thin filaments, whereas JPR had spiral and relatively long filaments. Sequencing analysis results showed that strains JPR and MRP had the closest homology similarity to Arthrospira sp. IAQUASC-C0001 with percentages of 99.34% and 99.12%, respectively. Meanwhile, Spirulina from BGR had the closest homology similarity to Arthrospira fusiformis strain AICB 668 with a percentage of 99.78%. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that strains BGR, JPR, and MRP are more closely related to Arthrospira than to Limnospira.
