Abstract

The rapid growth of financial technology has reshaped payment systems, particularly through the extensive use of electronic wallets and their top-up mechanisms. This study aims to analyze the e-wallet top-up framework from the perspective of Sharia Economic Law by examining its contractual structure, legal compliance, and potential Sharia-related issues. The analysis is grounded in fiqh muamalah, emphasizing core principles such as the permissibility of transactions (al-ashlu fil mu‘amalat al-ibahah), contractual clarity, and the prohibition of riba, gharar, and maysir. This research employs a qualitative juridical-normative approach supported by comprehensive library research. Primary data consist of Sharia fatwas, statutory regulations, and classical as well as contemporary Islamic economic literature, while secondary data include academic studies on fintech and Sharia compliance. Data are analyzed descriptively and analytically to assess the conformity of e-wallet top-up practices with Sharia principles, particularly referring to DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 116/DSN-MUI/IX/2017 and relevant Bank Indonesia regulations. The findings indicate that e-wallet top-up systems generally involve multiple contractual arrangements, with qardh functioning as the dominant contract, as user funds are treated as loans to e-wallet providers. Although the mechanism is fundamentally permissible, potential Sharia concerns arise from promotional incentives such as cashback that may lead to riba al-qardh, as well as refund delays that could create gharar. Nonetheless, Sharia-compliant e-wallets that place funds in Islamic banks, ensure real-time taqabudh, and operate under Sharia Supervisory Board oversight largely comply with Sharia requirements. The originality of this study lies in its comprehensive examination of the top-up mechanism as a complex Sharia contractual structure, offering normative legal recommendations to strengthen Sharia compliance in digital payment systems.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in education presents ethical challenges that require attention, especially in the context of Islamic education. This study aims to formulate a model of AI literacy curriculum that integrates Islamic ethics, based on the principles of maqāṣid al-sharl'ah, tawhid, and akhlak. Using a descriptive-conceptual qualitative approach, this study shows that AI literacy in Muhammadiyah educational institutions should go beyond mere technical skills, but also include the development of moral character aligned with Islamic values. The proposed curriculum model aims to build critical awareness, digital etiquette, and social responsibility among students in using technology. The study also suggests gradual implementation at the primary and secondary education levels, with the hope of creating a generation that is not only skilled in technology but also moral and ethical. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for developing an ethical technology-based education curriculum in Muhammadiyah institutions and Islamic education in general.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to provide the first comprehensive bibliometric mapping of Islamic local wisdom research to identify publication trends, intellectual structures, thematic evolution, and future research directions within this emerging field. Methodology: Using a bibliometric approach, data were retrieved from the Scopus database on 9 December 2025, resulting in 191 English-language journal articles published between 2009 and 2026, which were analyzed using Biblioshiny, Microsoft Excel, and VOSviewer. The analysis examined publication growth, leading authors, institutions, journals, citation patterns, and keyword co occurrence networks. Results: This study contributes original value by conceptualizing Islamic local wisdom as a dynamic and integrative epistemological framework rather than a static cultural construct, offering both theoretical insights and practical implications for education, law, social cohesion, and policy development, while providing a structured agenda for future interdisciplinary and comparative research.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the concepts of halal and haram as an ethical foundation in the practice of selling food in Sushi Hiro restaurants that do not have official halal certification, reviewed from the perspective of sharia economic law. The theoretical framework of this research is based on the concepts of halal and haram in Islamic fiqh, the principles of sharia economic law, and maqasid al-sharia, especially the protection of religion (hifz al-din), soul (hifz al-nafs), and property (hifz al-mal). The framework is used to assess the ethical responsibility of business actors as well as legal certainty in modern culinary business practices. The literature review refers to previous research on halal certification and the protection of Muslim consumers, especially generation Z. The literature shows that halal certification plays an important role in building Muslim consumer trust, although generation Z's consumption decisions are often influenced by lifestyle and social trends. Studies on non-halal certified Japanese restaurants from the perspective of sharia economic law are still relatively limited. The research methodology uses a normative-descriptive qualitative approach with case studies. The type of research is in the form of library research that utilizes secondary data, such as laws and regulations, fiqh muamalah literature, sharia economic law books, and relevant journal articles. Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive-analytical manner by linking legal norms and sharia principles to the practice of selling food at Sushi Hiro. The results of the study show that the absence of halal certification puts Sushi Hiro products in the category of syubhat and has the potential to contain gharar elements due to the unclear ingredients and production process. In addition, the consumption of Generation Z Muslims is more influenced by trends than by halal certainty. These findings affirm the importance of transparency, ethical responsibility of business actors, and halal certification as an instrument of consumer protection and increasing public trust.

Abstract

The transformation of contemporary Muslim consumption behavior is a phenomenon that cannot be separated from the influence of globalization, modernization, and consumerism culture. This condition poses its own challenges for the application of the distributive justice paradigm which is a fundamental principle in the sharia economy. Objective: This study aims to examine the distributive justice paradigm in sharia economics and explore its relevance to the transformation of modern Muslim consumption behavior. Methods: This study uses a qualitative method with a library research type, through analysis of normative sources and relevant scientific literature. The data analysis technique was carried out in a descriptive-interpretive manner by examining the concepts, values, and dynamics of consumption from the perspective of sharia economics. Results: The results of the study indicate that distributive justice in the sharia economy is not solely oriented to the mechanism of wealth distribution, but also demands the internalization of consumption ethics that are fair, balanced, and benefit-oriented. However, the consumption behavior of modern Muslims tends to shift towards excessive and symbolic consumption, potentially creating a gap between the normative values of Islamic economics and real consumption practices. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening awareness of consumption ethics as an integral part of efforts to realize distributive justice in the context of modern Muslim society.

Abstract

Objective: To reveal gaps in understanding the application of fatwas in Islamic fintech, obstacles such as low literacy and weak supervision, and proposals for digital adaptation innovations. Theoretical Framework: Based on sharia principles (prohibition of usury, gharar, maysir) with the evolution of the concept of electronic money from the Islamic empire era to modern regulations such as Law No. 21/2008 and POJK No. 28/2019. Literature Review: A review of previous studies reveals gaps such as a lack of analysis of the implementation of DSN-MUI fatwas (No. 116/2017, 117/2018), protection of sharia e-wallet data, the role of OJK, and DSN-MUI supervision, as well as the potential of sharia fintech despite low literacy. Methods: A normative legal qualitative approach with secondary data from literature, journals, PBI No. 23/6/2021, DSN-MUI fatwa, literature review, evolutionary synthesis, and case studies of Islamic fintech banking. Results: Sharia banking assets grew to IDR 980.30 trillion (2024, +10%), but market share remained at 7 8%; opportunities for BSI and LinkAja Syariah to reach the unbanked 50%, challenges of real-time DPS supervision and BASYARNAS MUI arbitration compared to non-sharia (OVO, GoPay). Implications: Strengthen regulations (mandatory arbitration clauses, AI DPS), literacy education via the BSI LinkAja platform (increase inclusion by 20%), global harmonization of AAOIFI for competitiveness and sustainability of the Islamic economy. Novelty: The first normative digital integrative approach synthesizing the evolution of sharia electronic money up to POJK 28/2019, a process-oriented compliance model proposed by the BASYARNAS-MUI cross-sector case study and the QRIS/PayLater halal filter, has not yet been comprehensively analyzed.
