Abstract

The increasing generation of agricultural waste presents both environmental challenges and opportunities for the development of sustainable materials. This study explores the extraction of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) from cabbage waste using a combination of steam explosion and low-concentration chemical treatments to optimize lignocellulose degradation. The process involved sequential delignification with NaOH, bleaching with NaOCl, and steam explosion applied to samples that had been soaked in oxalic acid at varying concentrations (0%–2%). After drying, the samples were analyzed using FTIR, XRD, and SEM to evaluate the extracted MCC product. The analytical results showed that the applied method significantly increased cellulose purity, from 31.05% in untreated fibers to 69.88% after steam explosion following soaking in 2% oxalic acid. FTIR analysis confirmed the removal of lignin and hemicellulose, while XRD analysis indicated an increase in crystallinity from 39% to 57%, suggesting improved structural integrity. SEM analysis revealed enhanced fiber separation and reduced particle size, indicating efficient defibrillation. These results highlight the potential of an environmentally friendly approach to producing high-quality MCC, supporting green chemistry principles and sustainable development goals (SDGs). eThe extracted MCC holds promising applications, particularly as a biopolymer for drug delivery systems, polymer composites, and food additives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze user sentiment towards the Lokapala game through reviews collected from the Google Play Store. Lokapala is a local MOBA game developed by Anantarupa Studios that integrates Indonesian cultural elements. A quantitative approach is employed using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to classify user reviews into positive and negative sentiments. Data were collected using the google-play-scraper library and preprocessed through several stages, including cleaning, case folding, word normalization using kamuskatabaku.xlsx, tokenizing, stopword removal, and stemming with the Sastrawi library. Reviews were labeled based on user ratings and split into training and testing datasets. Model testing results show an accuracy of 83%, with the highest precision of 0.85 for the positive class, recall of 0.93, and f1-score of 0.89. Additionally, WordCloud visualization revealed frequently occurring words such as "bagus" (good), "main" (play), "tolong" (please), and "banget" (very), reflecting both praise and technical complaints from users. These findings demonstrate that SVM is effective for sentiment analysis of user reviews and can provide valuable insights for developers in improving the quality of local games.

Abstract

Talango District in Sumenep Regency faces a significant public health challenge, recording the highest leprosy prevalence in the region with 17 active cases in 2024. This issue is deeply rooted in patient non-adherence to long-term medication and the limited clinical capacity of newly appointed village health volunteers. To address this gap, this community service initiative empowered local volunteers through an intensive training program centered on the "Active Patient Method" and "Social Support" framework. The intervention utilized interactive educational sessions and clinical discussions led by a multidisciplinary team of dermatologists, public health experts, and clinical pharmacists. We evaluated the program’s impact by measuring changes in participant knowledge using a validated pre-test and post-test instrument. Statistical analysis via the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test yielded a p-value of 0.000, demonstrating a substantial and significant increase in the volunteers' understanding of leprosy management. Furthermore, the program received high appreciation from the community, with 79% of participants commending the material quality and the experts' delivery. These findings suggest that fostering social support through volunteer empowerment effectively bridges the gap in leprosy care and medication management. This initiative provides a sustainable model for community-based health interventions in remote island areas, ultimately aiming to break the chain of leprosy transmission through compassionate and informed local leadership.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to examine in depth the certainty and legal accountability for environmental damage caused by corporate activities, as well as discuss the challenges and obstacles in enforcing criminal sanctions against corporations. This research method is normative juridical with a descriptive-analytical approach to discuss existing legal problems based on laws and regulations and legal norms that apply in society. The results of this study show that the certainty and legal accountability for environmental damage caused by corporate activities in Indonesia have been regulated in Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. Corporations as artificial persons can only carry out legal acts through the intermediary of their representatives, so that criminal sanctions in the form of imprisonment are imposed on the management or directors, while corporations as legal entities can only be subject to sanctions in the form of fines and administrative sanctions. The policy of enforcing sanctions against corporations that destroy the environment is implemented through penal and non-penal approaches. The penal approach is realized through the enforcement of criminal law based on the provisions of the Criminal Code and Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning PPLH. Meanwhile, non-penalties are carried out through the application of the principles of Good Corporate Governance in the company's internal governance, and the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

Abstract

The regulation of witchcraft under Article 252 paragraph (1) of the 2023 Criminal Code represents a criminal law response to a social phenomenon that continues to exist within Indonesian society. Witchcraft is often associated with supernatural practices that may generate fear, social conflict, and potential violence; therefore, the state considers it necessary to establish legal norms to regulate such practices. This study aims to analyze the juridical basis of the article, the elements of the criminal offense as formulated, and its implications for legal certainty and law enforcement practices. The method employed is normative legal research using statutory and conceptual approaches through a literature review. The results indicate that the criminalization of witchcraft in the new Criminal Code does not focus on proving the existence of supernatural powers, but rather on the act of a person who declares or offers services by claiming supernatural abilities that may cause suffering, illness, or death. This formulation categorizes Article 252 as a formal offense, thereby directing proof toward the perpetrator’s observable actions. This regulation is intended to protect society from fraud, psychological manipulation, and social conflict. However, the norm still has the potential to create multiple interpretations if not accompanied by clear interpretative guidelines, particularly in distinguishing between personal beliefs and criminal acts.
