Abstract

Online product reviews play a major role in the success or failure of an e-commerce business. In a transaction, buyers will usually find out information on the use of the product or service from online reviews posted by previous customers to get detailed product recommendations and make purchase decisions. Many reviews are created by users who often include strong sentimental opinions. This review of data is very promising and can be used by both customers and the Company. Customers can read reviews to know more about the quality of a product. However, due to the large number of reviews, it is difficult to see and read all consumer evaluations personally to get useful information. One effective approach in providing such recommendations is using Collaborative Filtering (CF) algorithms. This research aims to improve e-commerce platforms by applying Collaborative Filtering algorithms to provide more accurate and relevant product recommendations to users.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the perceptions of students at SMAN 5 Palu regarding the impact of using song lyrics to improve English reading comprehension. This study focuses on the role of song lyrics in increasing reading motivation and the challenges faced by students in their use. Although reading comprehension is an essential skill, international assessment results such as PISA show that Indonesian students' reading literacy is still below the global average, causing students to often feel bored and have difficulty understanding conventional texts. This study used a descriptive qualitative design with 25 students from class X Merdeka 1 of SMAN 5 Palu selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through open questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results showed that students had positive perceptions of the use of song lyrics. Song lyrics increase learning motivation through a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and help improve vocabulary, contextual meaning comprehension, and grasping main ideas. Challenges found include the use of slang, figurative meanings, fast pronunciation, and distractions for some students. This study concludes that song lyrics are effective authentic material in EFL reading learning.

Abstract

Life expectancy (LE) is one indicator of development success, especially in the health sector. A healthy nation is characterized by a longer life expectancy. With increasing age, physiological changes will occur, especially in the elderly, and various health problems will arise (Berlian et al., 2022). The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) found the prevalence of hypertension in West Sumatra to be 24.1%. The highest prevalence of hypertension in West Sumatra was in Padang City, at 35.6%. Meanwhile, the lowest prevalence of hypertension was in West Pasaman Regency, at 19.8%. The 2022 Padang City health profile data shows an estimated number of hypertension sufferers aged 15 years and above, amounting to 165,555 people. The qualitative descriptive method used was observation, interviews, and documentation, with face-to-face meetings involving 25 participants. The program included blood pressure checks, outreach, material presentations, discussions, questions and answers, and pre- and post-test evaluations. Prior to the counseling session, blood pressure was checked and a pre-test questionnaire provided by the counselor was completed. Following the counseling session, participants' understanding significantly improved. This was evident in their post-test scores. Seventy-five percent of participants answered the post-test questions correctly.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini adalah untuk meningkatkan motivasi guru dalam menulis sebuah karya tulis ilmiah. Melalui tulisan guru dapat membagikan pengalaman berharga terkait pengajaran seperti metode, teknik, serta media pembelajaran efektif yang dapat diterapkan di dalam kelas. Kegiatan PkM ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober tahun 2023, dimana pesertanya adalah guru-guru yang berasal dari Arsyad Islamic School, kota Pekanbaru. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan cara penyampaian materi serta demonstrasi singkat terkait langkah-langkah yang perlu dilakukan dalam penulisan karya ilmiah. Pada pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM ini, tim juga menyebarkan angket terkait pengalaman menulis karya ilmiah yang dilakukan oleh guru-guru. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari penyebaran angket, hanya sekitar 31% guru di sekolah tersebut yang pernah menulis karya ilmiah yang dipublish pada sebuah jurnal. Selebihnya, pengalaman menulis karya ilmiah guru masih terbatas pada skripsi/tesis dan makalah, dengan persentase masing-masing sebesar 100% dan 81%. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan rendahnya jumlah tulisan ilmiah para guru yang diterbitkan di jurnal adalah karena guru kurang memahami langkah-langkah penulisan karya ilmiah.

Abstract

This study examines the types of English-Indonesian translation errors produced by intern students at Tap Indo Translation Company and identifies the challenges influencing these errors in a professional context. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the data were gathered from translated documents created by five interns, validation results from three professional assessors, and semi-structured interviews with the participants. The analysis applied the Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) framework by Nababan, Nuraeni, and Sumardiono (2012), focusing on accuracy, acceptability, and readability. The results indicate that readability achieved the highest mean score (2.67), suggesting that most translations were generally clear and easy to understand. Accuracy followed with a mean score of 2.60, showing that although some distortions in meaning and inconsistencies in terminology occurred, the main messages were largely conveyed. Meanwhile, acceptability received the lowest score (2.47), indicating that many translations lacked naturalness and did not fully align with Indonesian linguistic norms. Readability was supported by clear sentence structure and logical information flow, despite occasional complexity. Accuracy issues were mainly caused by misinterpretation of polysemous words and limited contextual awareness. Acceptability problems were reflected in literal translation tendencies and unnatural sentence constructions influenced by English syntax. Interview findings reveal that these challenges stem from limited familiarity with specialized terminology, lack of experience with professional text types, and time constraints. Nevertheless, the internship contributed to improving the interns’ translation awareness, decision-making abilities, and use of effective strategies such as revising drafts, consulting references, and seeking feedback.

Abstract

This research aims to conduct a systematic review of the literature regarding the role of musical arts in the development of blind children in elementary schools. The type of research used is a Systematic Literature Review approach with a qualitative approach. A total of 39 relevant articles were found through Scopus, DOAJ and Google Scholar indexing, selected based on the year 2013-2023. The research results show that the art of music has great potential to provide significant benefits for the sensory, cognitive, social and emotional development of blind children. Music has been proven to be able to stimulate sensory development, especially in terms of hearing, kinesthetics and touch, which are important aspects for individuals with visual impairments. Additionally, participation in musical activities can also improve spatial cognition and overall cognitive abilities, as well as provide important social and emotional benefits, such as increased social interaction, self-confidence, and inclusion in the community. Adapted music learning approaches, including the application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and the use of active music methods, have proven effective in supporting the learning and development of blind children in elementary schools. Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving elementary school students’ learning outcomes and problem-solving skills in fraction material through a systematic literature review approach. The method used is a literature review by analyzing 25 relevant scientific articles published between 2021–2026 from various academic sources such as Google Scholar and national journal databases. The findings indicate that the implementation of PBL consistently contributes to significant improvements in students’ learning outcomes, with an average increase in learning mastery and test scores across studies. In addition, PBL has been shown to effectively enhance students’ problem-solving skills, particularly in solving contextual fraction problems, with notable improvements between pretest and posttest results. The effectiveness of PBL is supported by its ability to engage students actively in learning, encourage collaborative discussions, and develop critical thinking skills through real-life problem situations. Furthermore, the success of PBL is influenced by factors such as instructional design, teacher facilitation, and the use of appropriate learning media. This study highlights that PBL is a relevant and effective instructional model for supporting meaningful mathematics learning in elementary schools, especially in fraction topics.

Abstract

This study is based on the results of students' math learning in grade V SDN 24 Selayo. This is due to the fact that learning is still primarily focused on the instructor, the use of concrete media is not being utilized to its full potential, and students' comprehension of the concept is lacking. The purpose of this study is to describe the increase in learning outcomes on data collection materials using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with concrete media support in class V SDN 24 Selayo. Classroom Action Research (CAR) with both qualitative and quantitative methods is the type of research that is used. This study is conducted in two stages using a methodology that includes the phases of perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, and reflection. Data collection techniques are carried out using tes and nontes. This study's subject is the teacher and students in class V SDN 24 Selayo, which has a total of 17 students. The study's findings indicate that: first, Deep Learning Lesson Plan (RPM) increased from 85,71% (B) in siklus I to 96,42% (A) in siklus II. Second, the percentage of guru-related learning activities increased from 78.57% (C) to 82.14% (C). Finally, the percentage of students who completed their education increased from 75% (C) to 78.57% (C). Rata-rata, students' learning outcomes increased from 86.37% (B) in siklus I to 88.76% (B) in siklus II. Accordingly, it can be inferred that the implementation of RME using concrete media can enhance learning outcomes in data analysis materials in grade V SDN 24 Selayo.
