Abstract

Fourth graders' low learning engagement in elementary schools can hinder learning, especially in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects that require contextual understanding. We need innovative learning techniques and media to engage pupils. Thus, this study examines how the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) methodology and Explosion Box media affect fourth graders' IPAS learning in elementary school. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in a nonequivalent control group posttest-only format. The sample consisted of 40 students divided into experimental and control classes at elementary school 3 Way Galih. Learning activity data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using an independent sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference in learning activity between the experimental and control groups, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value = 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-count value of 4.965 > t-table 1.685. These results show that the CTL model with Explosion Box media boosts student learning. This medium creates an interactive, contextual, and engaging learning environment, encouraging student participation. Effective learning model recommendations come from this research. IPAS teachers can use the CTL model and Explosion Box media to motivate, engage, and contextualize elementary school pupils, supporting holistic educational goals.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low activity and learning outcomes of students in natural science subjects at state elementary schools. This study aims to test and analyze the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model on increasing the engagement and learning outcomes of fifth-grade science subject students at State Elementary Schools. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with a post-test-only nonequivalent control group design. The sample consists of two groups: the Experimental Class (n=27), which applies the TPS model, and the Control Class (n=26), which uses conventional learning at State Elementary School 3 Bandar Lampung. Data was collected through questionnaires, observation of learning activities, and learning outcome tests (post-test). Learning outcome data was analyzed using the independent sample t-test (Welch's t-test) after normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the study show: (1) Student learning engagement in the Experimental Class is in the High category with an average of 78.7%, while the Control Class is in the medium category with an average of 59.9%. (2) The average post-test score of the experimental class (88.52) was much higher than that of the control class (69.04). (3) The results of the hypothesis test indicated that there was a statistically very significant difference between the two groups (p-value = 0.000000019), which indicated that H_0 was rejected. The contribution of this study is to provide empirical evidence that the TPS learning model is a very effective and significant intervention in improving learning activities and cognitive learning outcomes among science students in elementary Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in strengthening the religious character values of students at MTs Negeri 1 Pesawaran through various strategies implemented in a planned manner. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation of five key informants. The results showed that PAI teachers and guidance and counseling teachers implemented a number of strategies such as Al-Quran literacy before learning, a tahfiz program, the habit of congregational prayer, the implementation of 3S (smile, greet, say hello), the culture of shaking hands, and monitoring student behavior. These strategies have proven effective in shaping students' religious character, discipline, and responsibility. However, several obstacles were found, such as the school's location close to a busy center, low parental involvement, and negative peer influence. Overall, the role of teachers is very significant in creating a madrasah environment that is conducive to the formation of students' religious character.

Abstract

This study investigates the correlation between learning independence and active participation among students in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at MAN 2 Bandar Lampung. Preliminary observations showed that only 15% of students demonstrated adequate self-confidence in independent learning, while responsiveness to questions reached merely 12%, indicating reduced engagement and growing reliance on AI during learning activities. Using a quantitative correlational design with an ex-post facto approach, the study involved 160 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The findings show a significant positive relationship between learning independence particularly students’ self-confidence and their responsiveness in classroom learning. These results underscore the importance of strengthening students’ confidence in autonomous learning as a primary strategy to enhance classroom responsiveness. Educators are encouraged to implement approaches that intentionally build self-confidence to improve active participation in IRE learning.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 7E instructional model in enhancing learners’ motivation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), specifically on the topic “Emulating the Role of Ulama in Spreading Islamic Teachings in Indonesia” at SMK Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. The research was conducted in response to the low internal drive of learners, which was associated with lecture-dominated instruction and limited interactive learning media. A quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed, involving two randomly selected classes: one experimental group taught using the Learning Cycle 7E model and one control group taught through conventional methods. The instrument utilized was a validated and reliable motivation questionnaire (α = 0.876). Although Hamzah B. Uno identifies six dimensions of learning motivation, this study focused exclusively on the dimension of learning drive and needs, as it corresponds directly with the objective of analyzing students’ internal impulses and perceived necessity to learn during the application of the 7E model. Restricting the measurement to this single dimension enabled a more precise and in-depth examination of internal motivation. The t-test results revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), demonstrating that the Learning Cycle 7E model effectively increased learners’ motivation, particularly in internal drive and learning needs. The study contributes novelty by implementing the 7E model within vocational-level religious education, offering an innovative and interactive approach to support meaningful and sustainable learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between learning motivation and learning autonomy in Fiqh learning at Al Hikmah Islamic Boarding School, Bandar Lampung. A quantitative correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 32 third-grade Wustho students, representing the entire population (N = 32). Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results revealed a very weak correlation between learning motivation and learning autonomy (R = 0.030), with a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.001. The significance test yielded a Sig. value of 0.873 (> 0.05), indicating that the relationship between the two variables is not statistically significant. These findings suggest that learning motivation explains only a negligible proportion of the variance in students’ learning autonomy within the context of Fiqh learning in a pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of low moral awareness among students in using artificial intelligence, despite the fact that some of them possess a high level of spiritual quotient. This condition raises the question of whether spiritual intelligence is truly related to moral awareness in the digital era. The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship between spiritual quotient (SQ) and students’ moral awareness in the use of AI. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 30 Islamic Education students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung, selected through a simple random sampling technique. The instrument, in the form of a five-point Likert scale questionnaire, was tested for validity, reliability, and prerequisite analyses including normality, homogeneity, and linearity, and subsequently analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The findings reveal that there is no significant relationship between SQ and moral awareness; spiritual intelligence does not influence moral responsibility in the use of AI (sig. 0.986). This indicates a gap between students’ internal spirituality and their digital moral behavior. In conclusion, fostering digital morality cannot rely solely on strengthening SQ, but requires AI ethics literacy, self-regulation, and a supportive academic culture. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse on digital morality and highlights the importance of integrating spiritual values with technological ethics in higher education

Abstract

Students’ learning activeness, particularly in the form of oral participation, constitutes a key indicator of the successful implementation of interactive and meaningful learning processes. However, empirical conditions in schools indicate that such activeness remains relatively low, largely due to instructional practices that are still dominated by one-way communication patterns. In response to this issue, the present study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model integrated with Wordwall media in enhancing students’ learning activeness in Islamic Religious Education. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Padang Ratu using a quasi-experimental design involving two classes, namely Class VIII C as the experimental group and Class VIII F as the control group. Students’ oral activeness was measured using a questionnaire instrument that had undergone validity and reliability testing. The collected data were subsequently analyzed through normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using an independent samples t-test. The results revealed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0,039, which is lower than the threshold of 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two research groups. Furthermore, the mean score of learning activeness in the experimental class was found to be higher than that of the control class. These findings suggest that the implementation of the STAD model supported by Wordwall media is capable of creating a more active and collaborative learning environment while encouraging students’ oral engagement during the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the STAD model assisted by Wordwall is effective as an alternative innovative instructional strategy for improving students’ learning activeness.
