Abstract

The low levels of cooperation and honesty among Group B children at TK Rejosari, where 80% of students achieved only the One-Star level in developmental outcomes. The lack of group learning activities that incorporate local wisdom values further exacerbates this condition. This study aims to enhance children’s character traits of honesty and cooperation through the implementation of the traditional game Cublak-Cublak Suweng. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over two cycles involving 20 Group B students. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed descriptively. The results show a significant improvement in cooperative behavior, increasing from 7.5% in the initial condition to 35% in Cycle I, and reaching 80% in Cycle II. Honesty also improved, rising from 13.75% to 36.25% in Cycle I, and reaching 86.25% in Cycle II. The study concludes that the traditional game Cublak-Cublak Suweng is effective in fostering honesty and cooperation among early childhood learners. It recommends the integration of traditional games as a character education medium in early childhood education (ECE) settings.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The rapid expansion of digital technology has fundamentally reshaped adolescents’ social interactions, raising concerns regarding the formation of social attitudes within educational settings. This study aims to examine the interplay between parenting styles and the intensity of social media use in shaping students’ social attitudes at the junior secondary school level. Methodology: Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with students and parents, systematic classroom observations, and documentation analysis, and were validated using data triangulation techniques. Main Findings: The findings reveal that authoritative (democratic) parenting, characterized by a balanced combination of behavioral demands and emotional responsiveness, plays a crucial role in fostering positive social attitudes, including self-regulation, empathy, and collaborative skills. Students raised within a democratic family climate demonstrate internalized moral reasoning, enabling them to maintain socially appropriate behavior without reliance on external supervision. In contrast, excessive social media use is associated with social withdrawal, fragmented attention, and diminished quality of face-to-face interactions in school contexts. High levels of digital engagement were found to displace opportunities for direct interpersonal communication, leading to what can be described as social atrophy and alienation. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the protective function of authoritative parenting in mitigating the negative social effects of intensive digital media use. The results underscore that the family remains a critical socialization arena in the digital era, capable of strengthening adolescents’ social resilience when supported by effective communication and guided autonomy.

Abstract

Early exposure to various professions is essential. The effects can make it easier for children to recognize what they want for the future. It is also essential to teach them the value of the profession. The study studied the concept of grade iv elementary school students in the South Petojo region's profession. The study was conducted to discover misconceptions about the architectural profession among elementary school students in the research environment. This study aims to know if students understand the differences in the professions of architects, interior design, and construction workers. The method used in this study is qualitative. In all, the study of the fourth-grade architect's conception of 14 students suggests that most students already understand the difference between the profession of architect, builder, and interior design. The finds indicate that students already understand the third order of professions within construction (development). Students understood that the first order in the construction sphere was the architect, the second order was the construction worker, and the last order was interior design. The benefits of this study are that students can distinguish between architecture, interior design, and construction workers through the construction applications which belong to the ICT students' literacy.

Abstract

This research targets geopark's two potentials in education and tourism by introducing and inculcating the Sapta Pesona character values using infographic teaching materials. Infographic book media is deemed a medium appropriate to the concrete thinking stages of elementary school students, which displays information visualization in an interesting and structured way. Therefore, this study intends to develop an infographic book introducing geopark and instilling Sapta Pesona character values for elementary school students, implemented in the local content curriculum in several elementary schools closest to the Bayah Dome Geopark area. Through research and development (R&D) methods with three main stages: (1) preliminary study stage, (2) design and development stage, and (3) product testing stage, this research produced an infographic book product to recognize the potential of geoparks and their character values that can be used as supplementary media for elementary school local content. The results of this study are expected to be an alternative introduction to the potential of geopark as a medium of learning and instilling character values targeting elementary school-age students. In addition, this research is a follow-up to the Lebak Regency MoU with UPI Serang Campus to optimize UPI's role in contributing to the sustainable development goals of potential areas in Indonesia. The development of Sapta Pesona-based infographic teaching materials in the Bayah Dome Geopark area, Lebak Regency, could be carried out properly; likewise, the teaching materials created could be adequately implemented. Many students in the Bayah Dome Geopark area of Lebak Regency were interested in teaching materials with pictures in infographics, where not-too-much reading and visualized through pictures made this ‘Asyiknya Bayahku' teaching material book more attractive and liked by students in elementary schools. Moreover, the teacher's enthusiasm for new teaching materials regarding independent curriculum learning has brought this research to further development due to much help from teachers waiting for these books and materials to be implemented in schools. Furthermore, the implementation of this book also positively impacted the application of character values in schools where this teaching material was implemented.

Abstract

Not all elementary school students possess good communication skills, necessitating the use of a learning medium to enhance their abilities. One such medium that may be employed is ClassPoint media. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of ClassPoint learning media in improving the communication skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Total Persada. The study utilized a quantitative research approach, specifically employing a pre-experimental design with a single group pre-test and post-test. The researchers employed a purposive sampling strategy to gather a study sample consisting of 28 students from fifth grade C. The data were obtained by observing full observers by two researchers (raters) and documentation. The observation sheet consisted of 25 observations and had been declared fit for use by experts. The Cohen's Kappa test was used to assess the level of Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR). The pre-test findings yielded values of 0.875 and 0.872 in the post-test, indicating a high degree of agreement, approaching perfection. The data analysis methods employed in this study encompassed descriptive statistics and parametric inferential statistics. To ensure the validity of the parametric tests, normality and homogeneity tests were conducted. Additionally, paired sample t-tests and One-way ANOVA testing were used to examine the relationships and differences among the variables of interest. The paired sample t-test and the One-Way ANOVA test yielded a significance value of 0.000, which is less than the predetermined alpha level of 0.05. As a result, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, whereas the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Consequently, a notable enhancement in the effectiveness of ClassPoint educational technology was seen in relation to the development of communication skills among fifth-grade students at SDN Total Persada. This study has the potential to offer up-to-date information and insights for educational institutions, schools, instructors, and readers in the elementary school setting.

Abstract

Maize is the second staple food and a major cereal crop in Pakistan, but its actual yield is 25-30% less than the potential because of high soil bulk densities. Three exotic maize varieties (Baber, Pioneer-30P45, and Syngenta-6621) were evaluated under the three different soil bulk densities of 1.00 - 1.30, 1.30 - 1.60, and 1.60- 1.90 g.cm-3. Nine treatments were replicated three times, making 27 pots experiments under complete randomized design were tested. Results showed that bulk density significantly (α < 0.05) affected all the parameters of the crops except the number of days to emergence. The fewest number of days to emergence (8.4), tasseling (60.9), silking (66.9), maturity (91.9), leaves per plant (6.3), as well as the lowest shoot thickness (0.49 cm) were obtained under the 1.00 - 1.30 g.cm-3 density. This density also produced the tallest plants (174.7 cm), highest stover (5938.7 kg ha-1), grain yields (1551 kg ha-1), and harvest index (21.9 %). Conversely, most days to emergence, tasseling, silking, and maturity occurred at the bulk density of 1.60 - 1.90 g.cm-3, which also produced the shortest plants and the lowest grain stover and grain yields as well as the harvest index. It was concluded that increasing bulk density levels increase the number of days to tasseling, silking, maturity, and leaves per plant and shoot thickness. Syngenta 6621 was found late in maturity among the hybrids but produced superior stover and grain yields.
