Abstract

This study aims to reveal the urgency of developing artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital skills for art educators as a key requirement for the successful integration of art and technology in creative learning in the digital age. Through a systematic literature review of recent sources (2019–2025), the results show that generative AI has been proven to play a role as a collaborative partner that changes the paradigm of arts education to “post-human art education” (Pavlik & Pavlik, 2024; Mayo, 2024). AI is capable of objectively analyzing students' work (visual patterns, musical composition, dance movements), providing instant feedback, creating interactive simulations, and personalizing learning through the 5E model (Engage-Explore-Explain-Elaborate -Evaluate) model, thereby significantly improving students' understanding of the concepts of form, space, tone, movement, and composition while strengthening their creativity, critical thinking, and visual-spatial problem-solving skills. However, the success of this transformation depends entirely on the digital competence of art educators in AI. Without mastery of AI, educators will only become passive consumers of technology, and students risk losing their competitiveness in the global creative industry. Therefore, this study recommends three concrete steps: (1) integrating the compulsory course “Artificial Intelligence for Art Education” into the art teacher education curriculum, (2) implementing national AI skills certification for art educators, and (3) developing a locally-based AI platform for inclusive art learning. Thus, art educators will not only be able to survive technological disruption, but also become pioneers in the birth of a generation of Indonesian digital artists-creators who are competitive at the global level.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores the effect of culturally responsive teaching (CRT) and learning motivation on numeracy achievement among elementary students in coastal West Papua, Indonesia. It investigates how integrating local cultural contexts into mathematics instruction and fostering student motivation can enhance learning outcomes. Method: A quantitative ex post facto design was applied, involving 30 third-grade students from SD Negeri 35 Kimindores. Data were gathered through a culturally responsive teaching scale, a learning motivation questionnaire, and a contextual numeracy test. Multiple regression analysis was used to assess the relationship between these factors. Finding: The analysis revealed that both culturally responsive teaching and learning motivation significantly impacted numeracy achievement, explaining 69% of the variance in students' performance. Students exposed to culturally relevant lessons showed greater motivation and improved numeracy skills. Significance: The study highlights the value of culturally responsive pedagogy in improving student engagement and achievement in mathematics. By aligning lessons with students' cultural contexts, educators can make learning more meaningful and inclusive. This research emphasizes the need for culturally grounded teaching strategies, particularly in remote areas, to ensure educational equity and foster deeper learning.

Abstract

Abstract This article analyses the effectiveness of ethnomathematics-based geometry learning using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach supported by mobile devices on junior high school students’ mathematical disposition. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 30 eighth-grade students selected through a cluster random sampling technique from a public junior high school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The instrument used was a mathematical disposition questionnaire comprising 16 validated statements. Data were analysed descriptively and inferentially using the Shapiro–Wilk test, one-sample t-test, and one-population proportion test. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ mathematical disposition after implementing ethnomathematics-based geometry learning through the PBL approach assisted by mobile devices. The average questionnaire score increased from 48 (poor category) to 59 (good category), with 90% of students achieving or exceeding the good category threshold. These findings indicate that integrating ethnomathematics into problem-solving activities facilitated by mobile technology can foster students’ confidence, persistence, interest, and comfort in discussing and learning mathematics. Abstract

The commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday at the Sangatta Islamic College was an important moment to strengthen morals and knowledge among the academic community, especially in facing the challenges of the era of information disruption 5.0. This activity aimed to instill religious spiritual values through motivational lectures that inspired students to emulate the Prophet's morals in their daily lives, especially on campus. The research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, involving participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the implementation of the activity. The results showed that participants understood the concept of morals as part of the practice of religious spiritual values and had a strong motivation to apply them in campus life. The positive responses and enthusiasm of the participants marked the success of this activity in strengthening the character and intellect of students. Therefore, it is recommended that various stakeholders collaborate to promote character development programs through similar activities on an ongoing basis, with an emphasis on strengthening spiritual intelligence (SQ) as the key to preparing an excellent young generation ready to face the dynamics of the era of information disruption.

Abstract

Teachers’ emotional intelligence has become an important part in students’ learning outcomes and experiences especially in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. This study focuses on high school students’ perceptions of their teachers’ emotional intelligence and its impact on their speaking skills and classroom engagement.  This is a case study. Eight third-grade students in different senior high schools who have known of their teachers’ personalities during the educational process were interviewed.  The findings showed that teachers’ positive emotions can increase students’ self-confidence and motivate them to improve their English speaking skills.  Conversely, when teachers expressed impatience or anger in front of the classroom, it could decrease students' learning engagement, as they experienced stress and fear about making sounds in the classroom.  This study revealed that emotional intelligence is very important in creating a positive learning environment, making English classes much more effective, and helping students improve their speaking skills.
