Abstract

Cintamekar Village in Subang Regency, West Java, is a peripheral village. One of its characteristics is that residents, especially from the pre-prosperous group, have not been able to enjoy the flow of electricity even though the source of electricity through the PLN is available. To overcome this, on the initiative of the non-governmental organization Initiative of People's Business and Economy (IBEKA), a PLTMH was built in the area. The purpose of this research is to analyze factors affecting social entrepreneurship for community empowerment. The research uses a quantitative approach which is reinforced by qualitative data. The method chosen is the case study. The results showed that overall, the formation of cooperatives was able to build social entrepreneurship by creating social benefits (score 3.6), carrying out social innovation (score above 3), and making the economic activities of citizens more diverse (score 4). The results from the data processed using SEM-PLS show that the development of social entrepreneurship is influenced by the characteristics of technology and innovation by 0.281. The communication channel factor is more dominant in influencing the development of social entrepreneurship, which is equal to 0.487. These two factors explained that there was a change of 33.3 percent in social entrepreneurship. The social entrepreneurship practice of the PLTMH program in Cintamekar Village is built on the characteristics of technology, innovation, and communication channels. The characteristics of technology and innovation as well as communication channels are the driving force for residents to change their social entrepreneurship behavior. This means that the technological and innovation characteristics of the PLTMH development and the communication channels used, through cooperative institutions, have a good impact on the development of social entrepreneurship in Cintamekar Village, and as a whole, they are able to build social entrepreneurship in creating social innovation and economic activities.

Abstract

The European Union is one of the world's largest markets for palm oil products. This study used the gravity models theory to analyze the potential changes of palm oil trade flow from Indonesia and Malaysia with a focus destination countries to the European Union. The focus of the study is to analyze the decreasing or increasing trade flow of palm oil due to the biomass regulation changes in the European Union and the export tax on palm oil. The research model involved 85 percent of the global palm oil market which is 61 countries of refined palm oil (RPO) consumers and 23 countries of crude palm oil (CPO) consumers over the period dating from 2006 to 2018. The two types of palm oil export products are clearly distinguished to see the different changes in both types of products trade flow due to the influential factors. The gravity model for analyzing data uses OLS and PPML regression. The results show that the CPO export tax has a significant positive impact on RPO exports but does not have a significant impact on CPO exports. Similar analysis results occur in the variable of biomass regulation change in the European Union, which has a significant negative impact on RPO exports but does not have a significant impact on CPO exports. Keywords: biodiesel, biomass regulation, export tax, gravity model

Abstract

To understand the recent development and to anticipate the future directions and trends of agricultural trade between Germany and Indonesia, this study analyzed the data of agricultural trade between the Germany and Indonesia. The major agricultural commodities that are traded between those countries are crude palm oil (CPO) and skimmed milk powder (SMP). There were public policies and environmentalist group movements that may have influenced the agricultural trade volumes within the period. This study identified those two factors. This study also identified possible future directions and trends of agricultural trade between the two countries. It analyzed the data ranged from 2001 to 2018, which were obtained from ITC Trade Map and analyzed using multiple regression models. The findings were in 2001-2018, the CPO and SMP trade between those countries showed an upward trend. However, it was predicted in the future that the public policies and environmentalist group movements might cause the agricultural trade to decrease. The world production quantity of CPO and the production of CPO in Indonesia had a significant effect on the German import from Indonesia, whereas the production quantity of milk in Indonesia and the GDP of Indonesia had a significant impact on the German export to Indonesia. The future directions and trend of German CPO import from Indonesia and German SMP export to Indonesia show an increase both for quantity and value. Robusta coffee marketing channels involve farmers and marketing institutions such as collecting traders, cooperatives and industries. Marketing channel 1 is relatively efficient where the marketing margin has the smallest value 37,78 percent and the farmer's share value with the highest value is 62,22 percent. Efforts to overcome an inefficient marketing system include disseminating market information through applications and websites, adding value to products, and forming farmer groups. Cooperatives provide credit facilities and enter into a contract system with farmers

The research aims to identify purchasing decisions, as well as to analyze consumer attitudes and preferences towards Gayo Arabica Coffee. This research uses primary data from an online survey using google forms involving 223 respondents who participated. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, fishbein multi-attribute analysis, and conjoint analysis. The research results show that the consumer decision making process goes through five decision stages. The comparison between three variants of arabica coffee, namely Gayo Arabica Coffee, Sidikalang Coffee, and Mandheling (lintong) Coffee show that consumer attitudes towards Gayo Arabica Coffee are more positive by 170.16 points. Gayo Arabica Coffee has advantages in the attributes of taste, aroma, product availability, aftertaste, and product information. This is supported by the results of consumer preferences on the level of attribute importance; the taste attribute has the highest level of attribute importance in Gayo Arabica Coffee products at 30.79 percent. Consumers also prefer Gayo Arabica Coffee, which has a sweet taste, a lingering aftertaste, strong aroma, light viscosity and a price of Rp 35,000/250g. Therefore, producers need to make improvements to product attributes that do not meet consumer expectations, as well as improve and maintain product attributes that meet consumer expectations.

Abstract

Background: The agricultural sector in Indonesia, contributing 13.7% to GDP and employing 30% of the workforce, is critical to the nation's economy. Despite its importance, the country's participation in the agricultural global value chain (GVC) faces persistent challenges, particularly in advancing agro-processing and integrating into high-value production. Purpose: This study analyzes Indonesia's GVC position and participation from 2007 to 2021, using the UIBE GVC Index and ADB ICIO data.Design/Methodology/Approach: Descriptive statistics and linear regression methods are used to assess Indonesia's forward and backward GVC participation compared to that of 62 other countries worldwide.Findings/Result: Findings reveal significant declines in Indonesia's backward participation, reflecting progress toward self-sufficiency, yet limited participation in complex forward and backward linkages underscores deficiencies in technological infrastructure and value-added exports. Moderate engagement in simple forward linkages highlights the need for targeted investments to boost competitiveness. Strategic interventions in infrastructure, advanced inputs, capacity-building, and global collaborations are essential for strengthening Indonesia's agricultural GVC role. Conclusion: To enhance GVC participation, Indonesia must address technological, infrastructure, and policy gaps. Strategic investments in agro-processing, advanced inputs, supply chain modernization, and international partnerships are critical to boosting competitiveness and export performance. Originality/Value (State of the Art): This study provides comprehensive insights for policymakers and stakeholders, emphasizing innovative strategies to enhance Indonesia’s global agricultural presence and achieve sustainable growth. Keywords: Agriculture, GVC Position, GVC Participation, Global Value Chain (GVC), UIBE GVC Index.
