Abstract

The paper aims to explain how GeoGebra can be used in a differential calculus course to explore the Derivative concepts by providing dynamic-visualizations of the concept. Design research methodology was used in this research by designing an instructional design (hypothetical learning trajectories) in the first phase and conducting the teaching experiment in the second phase. The data collected during the experiment consist of video recordings of the classroom activities, observations, interviews, and students written work. In the third phase of the design research, the data were analyzed retrospectively by comparing the actual learning process and the hypothetical learning trajectory. The results show that the dynamic feature of GeoGebra offers the possibility of zooming in on a graph corresponds to taking infinitesimal when a secant line transforms into a tangent line. This builds a foundation for the understanding of the definition of derivative intuitively.

Abstract

This study deals with improving students™ speaking achievement through public speaking tasks. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class XI AP2 SMK BM Taman Siswa Lubuk Pakam consisted of 32 students.  The research was conducted in two cycles and every cycle consisted of four meetings. The instruments for collecting data were oral test for quantitative data and diary notes and interview for qualitative data. Based on the oral test scores, students™ score kept improving in every test. In the orientation test, the mean score was 55.9, in the first competence test, the mean score was 64.4 and in the second competence test, the mean score was 73. The improvement also can be seen from the percentage of the students™ speaking achievement, in the orientation test only 3.13% (one student) got 65 points. In the first competence test 65.63% (twenty one students) got 65 %. It means there was an improvement about 62.5%. In the second competence test 93.75% (thirty students) got 65 points. The improvement was 31.25%. It can be concluded that public speaking tasks could improve students™ speaking achievement.   Key Words: Speaking, Achievement, Public Speaking, Tasks

Abstract

Conflict between neighbours is a social challenge that often disrupts community cohesion, especially in rural areas with close social interactions. This research aims to examine the dynamics of social conflict in Bakti Makmur Village, Rokan Hilir, Riau, by exploring the causal factors, forms of social disintegration, and a Qur'anic values-based resolution approach. The qualitative case study method was used through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation with residents, community leaders, and religious leaders. The findings show that conflicts are often triggered by unfair business competition, social jealousy, and weak intervention of social institutions. Broken communication, innuendo on social media, and lack of islah facilitation exacerbate social disintegration. Although the values of ukhuwah, islah and itsar are often combined, the actualisation of these values is still low in daily practice. The Qur'an emphasises ukhuwah Islamiyah as the structural foundation of the ummah that must be realised through justice, empathy and social solidarity. This research also found that some residents still uphold the ethics of muamalah and tolerance in competition, representing the praxis of Qur'anic values in social life. However, the dominance of individualistic approaches and the weak role of social institutions hinder the transformation of values into social structures. This study recommends the integration of Qur'anic value-based conflict resolution strategies and local community approaches to build a peaceful, just society and create prosperous conditions

Abstract

Abstract

Foodborne disease refers to a condition when the body is affected by microbial toxins or substances that enter through the consumption of food. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that around 1 in 10 individuals worldwide fall ill and experience 420,000 fatalities annually due to foodborne illnesses or food poisoning. Additionally, these incidents result in a loss of 33 million years of healthy life each year. The objective of the study is to assess the ambient and personal hygiene conditions and their impact on the presence of harmful microorganisms in food during culinary excursions in Kanggano Rajo. This study was employed a quantitative research approach with a descriptive design and a cross-sectional research design. The study population consists of 101 individuals engaged in the street vendors culinary items during the Culinary Tour of Tanggo Rajo. The findings indicated that 68.5% of the respondents needed to fulfill their hygiene preferences. Additionally, study was reported unsuitable environmental sanitation conditions, 57.4% reported inadequate water condition, 77.8% reported improper waste handling, 81.5% reported inadequate waste disposal, and 100% reported insufficient vector control. The microbiological test results revealed the presence of Enterobacter Hafniae in 2 samples, enterobacter aerogenes in 16 samples, and Klebsiella Azaenae in 36 samples. Empowering and enhancing education in all critical sectors is advisable while ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation.
