Abstract

The government and schools have tried to strengthen the implementation of character education. However, there is no program to overcome radicalism. Everything returns to each individual, including the successful implementation of character education, which can at least minimize the influence of radicalism on the school environment. This study is intended to obtain a hypothetical model of Character-Based Leadership that can effectively affect the implementation of character education and efforts to combat radicalism. This research was conducted by studying phenomena that are part of the qualitative method. The object of this research is high school-level schools exposed to radicalism. The schools taken were two schools that had been exposed to radicalism. The subjects of this study were the principal, teachers, and students. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interview techniques, complemented by observation and document review. Data collection was carried out by several visits to the research field, cross-checking, primary data, and secondary data, complemented by literature studies and previous research. This study also meta-analyses several leadership models as a theoretical basis in producing character-based leadership components. The data processing of the results of this study was assisted by the NVIVO 12 Software to facilitate researchers in finding research results from so much field data. From the results of data analysis, researchers get many components of character values from character-based leadership, constructs, and frameworks in the implementation of character education. Finally, this study proposes the ideal character values possessed by someone who can be included in the category of character-based leadership who can become a leader in the implementation of character education and a leader who can prevent and overcome radicalism.

Data were obtained through observation, observation, interviews and review of documents with research participants as many as 3 elementary schools representing 3 teacher working groups (KKG). Furthermore, the data were analyzed through transcription, data organization, recognition, coding and triingualization. The results of the study found that the Continuing Professional Development (PKB) program for elementary school teachers had not been effective in terms of planning, implementing, evaluating, organizing, and planning follow-up aspects. The resulting impact is only in the aspect of teacher self-development which has increased, while the teacher research culture is still low. Due to the development of technology and organizational needs, the competence of the State Civil Apparatus has increased significantly, necessitating the adjustment of improvement techniques. Furthermore, the lack of a role for the sending agency in training continues to be an impediment to the intersperity between competence needs and the implementation system. This research focuses on how the competency-based training model is applied, as well as the function and impact of supervisory authorities' training results on enhancing performance. This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to obtain results that are relevant to the needs, and it was conducted at the State Administration Agency's Center for Training and Development and Competency Mapping of State Civil Apparatus with alumni research training supervisory officials in 2018, 2019, and 2020. According to the findings of the study, the training has not taken advantage of technological advancements or maximized the role of the sending agency, so there are still difficulties and limits in its execution, particularly in terms of location and time. To meet these issues, a training model must be developed that focuses on ensuring the organizer's competency.

Abstract

In the era of digitalization of education and economy and the development of artificial intelligence, adolescents appear highly competitive compared with other generations in understanding digital technologies, acquiring expertise, and mastering modern means of communication, which normally causes intergenerational conflicts and the loss of an adult’s personal and functional authority. The aim of this research was to develop and test a model for developing adolescents’ communicative cultures in an institution of additional education. The research emphasizes the significance of personality-oriented, interactive-communicative, and cultural approaches and conducts a comparative analysis of the sources. Methodologically, the study relies on a quantitative method with primary sources. Besides, the findings of the study contribute to the existing limited stress on the importance of adolescents’ communicative cultures from the perspective of the digitalization of additional education. The study finds that the use of digital options in education has reduced social interaction among students. However, the students prefer to use digital methods of learning as they find them more convenient for communication. Therefore, the digital communication culture has high potential in the educational sector. The findings are novel as this study is one of the few recent studies that examined how communicative culture has transformed due to digital means in education. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2022-SIED-019 Full Text: PDF
